Tyler Perry doesn.t screen his movies for the press. Instead it seems he puts all of his promotional energy into cranking out movie posters. In this case, I approve since it.s resulted in this brand new, sort of sexy Taraji P. Henson disco poster for I Can Do Bad All By Myself. Honestly speaking as a critic I.d rather look at this poster than watch his movie anyway, so thanks Tyler. You.re the best. Click the poster to visit our complete I Can Do Bad image gallery and see more posters and a few brand new stills for the film as well. So what.s it about? While I openly admit that I'm not exactly a fan of Tyler Perry movies, I still have no idea which direction I Can Do Bad All By Myself is heading. The film's teaser trailer was hilarious and all about Madea, but the film's posters are so dramatically pretty, it now feels like the film is pushing Madea to the background and working on drama over comedy.

I know Tyler Perry isn't really a name you see mentioned a lot here, but whether I like his films or not, I respect the fact that this guy has built a niche audience for himself that translates into real freedom to make his films his way. I don't have to be his target audience to admire the way he has reached that audience. I always laugh when I see film nerds freak out because something they don't like is popular with audiences that aren't just like them. It's like when people get crazy about the little "Twilight" girlies. Leave 'em...

I don't generally put up trailers (as you may know), but I'm a bit of a Tyler Perry fan, and since it was conveniently sent to me along with the one sheet, I thought I'd share it. Not a ton of exciting movie posters released over the past week or so, but the first Prince of Persia posters are definitely worth a look, as is the cool motion poster for Saw VI. I like the Prince of Persia posters from a design standpoint but somehow they don't quite suit the material. Also this week, a strange poster for Tyler Perry's latest film I Can Do Bad All By Myself, which pays tribute to Sam Peckinpah's iconic poster [1] for Straw Dogs, a Jim Carrey-esque UK quad for The Invention of Lying, and a completely blank poster for Peter Jackson's The Lovely Bones. Now that's how you sell a movie! [1] http://www.newsday.com/news/custom/offbeat/ktxl-gallery-100movieposters,0,160331.photogallery?index=9For more posts like this visit FilmJunk.com.

Uhoh, it looks like Madea is sad, or mad...or something. The truth is I don't know much about Madea, Tyler Perry's agressive black matriarch that's been featured in many of his films and is something of an icon. Her next appearance will be in Perry's upcoming I Can Do Bad All By Myself, and judging by the looks of the poster, Madea ain't too pleased.

I'm not exactly a fan of Tyler Perry movies. They always have drama that I'm trying to avoid when going to a theater. I Can Do Bad All By Myself, however, is off to the right start. Before she was an Oscar nominee and acting under the direction of David Fincher, Taraji P. Henson was in a Tyler Perry movie-- his most recent one, actually, The Family That Preys. And apparently Henson likes sticking with what she knows; she'll star in Perry's new film I Can Do Bad All By Myself, and is the central figure of the movie's new poster, which has just been released. Though I Can Do Bad features Perry's signature grandma character Madea, the buxom old lady is nowhere to be found on the poster. Instead it's an elegant image of Henson's face within a yellow rose, the kind of image that suggests a drama or at least a psychological thriller. What kind of movie is this going to be? Are the people who go to Perry's movies just to see Madea whip people with her purse going to be totally confused? Not...

You don’t hire Mary J. Blige, if you’re not going to have her sing. Good thing Tyler Perry knew that when he cast her in his upcoming film “I Can Do Bad All By Myself.” The Hollywood Reporter says Blige will play a nightclub manager and singer who is friendly with the character played by Taraji P. Henson.
“Peep World” could have a stellar cast. The talent of Michael C. Hall and Ben Schwartz has already been made official, while the status of Rainn Wilson and Sarah Silverman is in the negotiating stage. This Occupant Films indie is about a dysfunctional family fighting after one sibling writes a novel about the clan.

After bucking Hollywood tradition on the feature side, actor-filmmaker Tyler Perry is preparing to do the same in television. Perry, whose comedy Madea's Family Reunion was No. 1 at the boxoffice this past weekend with a $30 million debut, has signed a deal with indie production-distribution Debmar-Mercury to distribute his original comedy series House of Payne in first-run syndication. The half-hour series revolves around the comical situations that ensue when a multigenerational family lives under one roof. Perry chose to partner with Debmar-Mercury rather than go through a studio or network to ensure he retained creative control while he continued to build his brand, which also includes the film Diary of a Mad Black Woman, such plays as I Know I've Been Changed and I Can Do Bad All by Myself and a home video business, said his agent, WMA's Charles King.
