So very trite
gregmartin-5866724 September 2016
Wish I could be charitable on this but I just can't. The acting is awful and even the sound track is trite. This isn't a big budget production so it was easy enough to forgive the small feel. It is very difficult though to ignore the weak dialog and so predictable action; the writing is so clichéd. The children were a tired mix of adolescent stereotypes and I suppose the young actors might be forgiven for their inability to sell the scenes. I admit that I finally gave up without sticking to the end, but I just couldn't take any more. Perhaps if the families had been eaten by a pair of rabid bears in the first ten minutes it would have at least made an object lesson in wilderness safety.

Rotten. Rotten. Shocker!

I recently watched Nudist Colony Of The Dead which had Christian themes and amusingly cardboard 'acting'.

At first, I thought this film was going to be a jolly spoof until I realised that they were actually trying to act for real. 'Stilted' is a gross understatement.

I wonder how the casting worked for this film as the adults are clearly not cut out for delivering dialogue. Excruciating. The kids show them up pretty badly.

Some of the lines are truly shocking.

There are some strong Christian morals in the film. But I don't think it does much to encourage Christianity. It just makes Christians appear somewhat touched.

Overall, I just wanted them all to die or sell their souls or whatever.

Truly and utterly diabolical. Disturbing, even.

Warning: Spoilers
The kids do great by themselves, not just acting off the adults. The idea was great for a family film, and kids of all ages should enjoy. The interaction between the adults and the kids about some pretty powerful stuff is, well, powerful. Get the tissues out for some parts. The kids are funny and even though of course they know they're acting like they're alone, they do a good job of not goofing it up. There are some pretty funny parts as well, some of the one liners and expressions from the kids are a hoot:) The overall message is of course wonderful, lots of learning life's biggest lesson. I've watched it many times, but the scene always makes me cry. I would recommend it for a great family film, or even for a church to keep in their library.

Great but...

It's great but the kids don't seem to k be what you think. If one of them was a scout then maybe it would have been better.

Re filled fixes:

If this was re filled some fixes would be

1. Once the dog gets back they don't hesitate 2. Walkie talkies and rope 3. When crossing the river the stronger people and in a circle but still the boy gets washed away 4 search and rescue gets called but the parents find them first 5 the young slim boy gets yelled at and help responsible

I do wish I could find more photos of the youngest slim boy. Lastly one more girl and one more boy should have been in it that they meet on the trail.

Watch with an open mind and an open heart.

Hollywood? No. Cannes? No. And if you have high cinematic expectations, you may be disappointed. But if you take in what's going on, and apply some of what happens to your own life or that of others you know, it just might touch your heart. Just sit and relax. And pay attention. I know I did.
