Uproxx is reporting that Lucha Underground will be making its return to the El Rey Network on May 31st for its Season 3 mid season premiere. Lucha Underground, for those that haven't seen it, is a unique blend of wrestling and B-movie intrigue. It centers on corrupt owner Dario Cueto who runs the Lucha Underground wrestling organization and his dealings with wrestlers and various unseemly characters like politicians, police, and Aztec deities. Here is a summary of Season 3 from the Lucha Underground website.
Dario Cueto has been released from prison, the mysterious Lucha Underground Temple is back in business. El Jefe is more confident than ever in his brother, the undefeated Lucha Underground Champion Matanza and his quest for violent domination. Now while one hero must take a dark path, others will have to take even greater sacrifices if they hope to save themselves and the world.

Trejo will give a a firsthand account of everything he faced in his past, to getting a second chance and changing his life, to becoming a movie star and giving back to the community.

Spectre – November 6
Director: Sam Mendes
Stars: Daniel Craig, Christoph Waltz, Léa Seydoux
Synopsis: A cryptic message from Bond’s past sends him on a trail to uncover a sinister organization. While M battles political forces to keep the secret service alive, Bond peels back the layers of deceit to reveal the terrible truth behind Spectre.
Analysis: The question on a lot of people’s minds going into Spectre will no doubt be “is it going to be as good as or better than Skyfall?” Skyfall was certainly an awesome Bond movie, but if there is one thing we can take away from oh say Quantum of Solace, it’s that we should take each Bond movie as a single experience and try not to compare them with each other. That’s what I do anyway and it really takes away from the expectations and makes for a more enjoyable time.

Chavo Guererro is a former WWE Cruiserweight Champion and one of the finest pro wrestlers of his generation. He had a notable run in the 90’s into the 2000’s, finding fame in WCW before transitioning into success with the WWE. Fans will never forget his tag matches with Eddie Guerrero, or some of the stunning efforts he had against Rey Mysterio.
Chavo really was the complete worker. Whether it was mat wrestling or top rope flying, he did everything with speed and smoothness that translated beautifully on screen.
Following his exit from the WWE in 2011, Chavo enjoyed a brief run in Tna, and can currently be seen on the exciting Lucha Underground show. The line-up at this year's Toronto Film Festival has a much different feel than year's past and coming up with a list of most anticipated films isn't nearly as easy as previous years. Not because there's any lack of possible greatness, but in fact perhaps because the possibility is even greater, though in corners we may not expect. This year's fest is without what I would call a "big" film. David Dobkin's The Judge is opening the festival but at 141 minutes and with a trailer that does very little to convince me of its quality I have a hard time expecting much from it. Reese Witherspoon's Wild from director Jean-Marc Vallee is certainly one I will be seeing, but the anticipation level isn't entirely there and the somewhat muted Telluride response of respect with caveats has lessened my anticipation ever so slightly, the same could be said for Jon Stewart's Rosewater,...

Aaa continues to be the talk of the wrestling world following Alberto Del Rio and Rey Mysterio’s participation with the Mexican promotion. The company held their largest event of the year, Triplemania, opposite WWE’s SummerSlam and drew a sellout crowd to the Arena Ciudad in Mexico City. Now, Aaa has officially announced a new television show to air in the United States on the El Rey Network.
The show — which is titled “Lucha Underground” — will premiere on October 8th of this year. Aaa will make their American debut on El Rey — a network started by famed filmmaker, Robert Rodriguez. Together, the two companies are hyping a revolutionary wrestling product, which is to be produced by One Three Media — owned by Emmy-winning reality television producer Mark Burnett.
Burnett, the show’s Executive Producer, stated that, “Not since ‘The Contender’ premiere has a new series combined this level of drama and athletic competition.

The Expendables 3 is debuting this weekend in 40 territories including Russia, the UK, Mexico and Australia — and features a powerhouse ensemble that includes Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Harrison Ford, Mel Gibson, Wesley Snipes, Antonio Banderas, Dolph Lundgren, Kelsey Grammer and Kellan Lutz.
Together, the cast outweighs the sum of its parts, but the parts are actually quite interesting when looked at in terms of international box-office drawing power, especially in mega markets like China, Korea, Russia, Brazil, and parts of Western Europe. Below, I’ve broken out numbers for some of the individual stars across those markets with a nifty slideshow that covers their last three major titles outside the franchise in these key territories.* The first Expendables film did about $274M worldwide, with $171M from overseas. In an unusual turn of events for a sequel, the franchise’s second film saw its earnings drop in the U.

The Expendables 3 has merits, argues Duncan, but the PG-13/12A cuts have done it no favours...
It’s a strange world indeed when a film you were expecting to be an action movie highlight of the year works best as a comedy, which is especially ironic since The Expendables 3 is by far the biggest and most action packed in the series to date, both in terms of its cast and set pieces.
I’d argue that there remain few people out there who remain as invested in The Expendables franchise as this particular writer, with the heady mix of nostalgia and ultra-violence providing some sublimely over the top entertainment. What's more, it taps directly into the 80s action movie fantasy line up, that many of us dreamt of seeing back in the day. However, when Stallone shrewdly pioneered the unique concept behind The Expendables, one of the core...

From Desperado to the Spy Kids franchise and beyond, Robert Rodriguez and Danny Trejo have largely become household names due mostly to the work they’ve done together.
With the sequel to Machete about to hit theaters, Machete Kills expands on their body of work and might remind audiences just why they fell in love with the indie spirit of Rodriguez and the stoic badassery of Trejo in the first place. Shortly before the premiere of Machete Kills at this year’s Fantastic Fest down in Austin, TX, Rodriguez and Trejo sat down with Dread Central for a few minutes before they were rushed out to meet the fans on the red carpet.

HollywoodNews.com: The 2012 Tribeca Film Festival (Tff), presented by American Express®, today announced the World Narrative and Documentary Competition film selections, along with selections for the out-of-competition Viewpoints section—the program established last year that highlights personal stories in international and independent cinema. The Tribeca Film Festival announced half of this year’s movie showcase, the 11th edition of the New York celebration set for April 18-29. James Franco’s behind-the-scenes General Hospital feature, Francophrenia, will have its North American premiere in the Viewpoints section – the program established last year that highlights more personal stories. “He’s kind of constructed this really interesting and well-crafted film about that experience that plays with the boundaries of documentary,” says Genna Terranova, Tribeca’s director of programming. “It’s a bit tongue in cheek, as James himself can be. He’s a bit enigmatic and the film is as well.

With The Five-Year Engagement set as the opening title for the 2012 Tribeca Film Festival, they’ve announced more of the line-up today with World Narrative & Documentary Features as the Viewpoint titles. We’ve got the next film from The Exploding Girl director Bradley Rust Gray, Jack and Diane (as well as a first look about featuring Juno Temple, thanks to Styd).
There is a new Harmony Korine short as well Kate Bosworth‘s While We Were Here and The Girl, starring Abbie Cornish. James Franco also has his latest film, Francophrenia, featuring footage from his performance on General Hospital. SXSW kicks off later this week, but once your done slurping the BBQ sauce off your fingers, pack your backs and head north to Manhattan as the Tribeca Film Festival is gearing up to unspool in April. To whet cinephile appetites, organizers have dropped the lineup for the World Narrative Feature Competition, World Documentary Feature Competition and Viewpoints lineups and there are plenty of titles to take note of.
Among the narratives, the anticipated "Jack And Diane" from Bradley Rust Gray will make its world premiere. Starring Juno Temple and Riley Keough, the film takes a teenage lesbian love tale and twists the formula, with one of them revealing she's a werewolf. Add to that a cast rounded out by Dane DeHaan, Jena Malone and pop star Kylie Minogue (as a tattooed lesbian, of course) and you can see why this will be one of the hottest tickets at the fest.

Having being injured since December, former two time WWE Champion Alberto Del Rio made his return to the WWE at last night’s WWE SmackDown live event house show in San Francisco, California at The Cow Palace.
Del Rio came to the ring and cut a promo on the crowd before he was interrupted by Sheamus. ‘The Celtic Warrior’ then challenged Alberto to a ‘Royal Rumble Winners Match’ but Del Rio declined the offer and suggested an Arm Wrestling contest instead. Sheamus agreed and they started the tussle but it was judged a No Contest when Roberto Rodriguez interfered. Del Rio quickly high tailed it and Rodriguez was the poor recipient of a Sheamus beat down.
Alberto Del Rio has just about been cleared for a wrestling return which is expected to take place at the WWE Elimination Chamber pay-per-view next Sunday night, if not before.
Meanwhile in other news...

I don’t watch professional wrestling, but I often spend a lot of time watching motion pictures that feature wrestlers in prominent roles. Go figure. Former WWE Champion Dave Bautista is one seriously intimidating guy, which may explain why I think he’ll do well in the wonky world of direct-to-video action flicks. His latest feature, Brian Miller’s upcoming actioner “House of the Rising Sun”, has a lot of things going for it, including the presence of both Danny Trejo and Dominic Purcell. Fans of 90′s alternative rock, meanwhile, will be pleased to see that Brian Vander Ark, lead singer for “The Verve Pipe”, is counted amongst the cast. If you don’t remember those guys, don’t feel too bad, as I seriously doubt anyone under the age of 30 has heard of them. But, I digress. Here’s what the film is all about: Ray, an ex-cop, is...

Remember the Stunning Steve Austin, a Texan pro wrestler in the late-80s. Well, he and La Tortuga Danny Trejo, who spent much of the 1960s in California prisons, are finally mixing their powers for the indie action movie titled just Recoil.
John Sullivan, who wrote the horror Fear of the Dark, penned the script for this actioner directed by Terry Miles, who is currently developing thriller Timelock acquired by Im Global.
Jim Harvey of Studio City Pictures will be at Cannes seeking distribution for Recoil.
Austin, who played Dan Paine in The Expendables will portray an ex-cop who’s life is ripped apart when his family is viciously murdered. He then makes it his life’s passion to find those responsible and serve up his own kind of justice. Trejo portrays a cold-hearted killer who is seeking his own vengeance against the ex-cop over the murder of his brother...

Blockbuster – the one-time giant in the home video rental business which went bankrupt last September – was bought at auction this past week by Dish Network for $320 million. According to Dish, it intends to combine its wireless technology with Blockbuster’s brand name recognition, studio relationships and digital rights to re-establish Blockbuster as a player in the direct-to-home market against Netflix and newer contenders like Amazon and a Warner Bros. online rental service to be offered on Facebook.
However this plays out long-term, the auction buy is the last page in a final chapter begun back in September when Blockbuster busted. To trot out the old cliché, it’s the – everybody now — end of an era.
The business Blockbuster used to be in seemed revolutionary in its day, though it seems almost quaint now; come Friday, some delegate from the family would trot to the neighborhood video store hoping to get...

Not every superhero is a gem. They can't all be cool like Iron Man or Wolverine. Such is the case with Pizza Man, which stars Frankie Muniz as a regular guy working at his mom's(Shelley Long) pizza restaurant. After an accident at a lab takes place, he's given a rare tomato(not kidding) which grants him superhuman powers. The film was directed by Joe Eckardt(Champion), and shot mostly in a Los...

What's college without beer, babes, and vampires?!? Campus life (or lack thereof) is about to take on a whole new meaning when the University, and potentially the rest of the world, finds itself in danger from an army of the undead. Alex and Brock are your typical small college jocks dealing with an annoying residence assistant, wacko monster obsessed professor, head case for a coach, and of course lots of drunken women. Their lives get flipped upside down when a suspension from the football team saves them from being turned into blood sucking minions. But with the authorities not buying their story,...

Hitting movie theaters this weekend:
From Prada to Nada – Camilla Belle, Alexa Vega, Kuno Becker (limited)
The Mechanic – Jason Statham, Ben Foster, Donald Sutherland
The Rite – Colin O’Donoghue, Anthony Hopkins, Ciarán Hinds
Movie of the Week
The Mechanic
The Stars: Jason Statham, Ben Foster, Donald Sutherland
The Plot: An elite hit man teaches his trade to an apprentice who has a connection to one of his previous victims.
The Buzz: Jason Statham is kind of cookie cutter, and this looks to be just another of his many action extravaganzas, but he does turn in some good work from time to time. Death Race, for instance, was good, and I enjoyed the first Transporter too. Ben Foster has been on the rise now for quite some time — I imagine a few years from now he’ll be knocking on the door of the household name. I enjoyed him a lot in Pandorum,...

A lot of hay has been made lately about the future of Netflix streaming movies over the Internet for its subscribers as opposed to their original business model of being a mail-order DVD rental service. A good recent article on the subject was written by Chuck Tryon, who waded through all the hype and arguments against to try to figure out what impact Internet streaming of movies has on the movie industry.
Well, forget about the industry for the moment. How is Netflix streaming affecting the underground filmmaker?
Personally, I’m not a Netflix subscriber, so wading through their offerings is a bit more difficult for me. However, I was still curious if the company was streaming any underground movies. To find out if they were, I ended up searching a website called Instant Watcher, which is a company independent of Netflix, but uses a Netflix developer Api to scan...

His face is instantly recognizable. His deft portrayals of characters both noble and ignoble have elevated him from “that guy with the tattoos” status to a bankable commodity.
The parts he’s played are just as memorable as he is: the knife-wielding Navajas from Desperado, the toothy vampire bartender Razor Charlie from From Dusk Till Dawn, Johnny “Johnny-23” Baca from Con Air, Machete from the Spy Kids series, the lovable biker Slim from Bubble Boy, the “Mexican/Mexican’t” Cucuy from Once Upon a Time in Mexico, Rondo from The Devil's Rejects, Cuchillo from Predators, and now … the illustrious Machete. His name is Danny Trejo, and while you may not know his name, you definitely know his face.
Director Robert Rodriguez – a longtime supporter of Danny’s – turned what might have been a gag trailer for a lost biker revenge film into a media and cultural juggernaut. Machete, made for roughly $10 million,...

A lot has been said about Danny Trejo's face (Current TV's Brett Erlich memorably said that "Trejo's face looks like it's wearing another face"), and not just because its leathery crags and valleys make it seem less like human skin and more like something it takes Greg Nicotero two hours to apply every morning. Danny Trejo's face is such a focal point because until Machete it's all that Danny Trejo has ever been to most people. But when I was 11, I thought of him as my favorite babysitter. From Heat to Desperado to From Dusk Till Dawn his grizzled mug would show up in just about everything I would pull from the local video store, and when my parents went out to dinner or worked late, it was often Trejo who was left to tuck me in. So despite usually playing criminals, killers, and rapists (Johnny 23!), he's...

The Messenger - DVD Review
Woody Harrelson is a human litmus test for what the ravages of war can do to an individual.
The Messenger is a movie that defies a conventional critique as the movie unspools in a manner that feels more real than it does made up, more visceral than it does imagined. While Kevin Bacon’s turn in Taking Chance was a heartfelt swan song to one human’s life who died for his country, The Messenger is grittier in its portrayal of a man tasked with delivering the news no family member wants to get about their fallen soldier.
It’s grittier and more immediate thanks to the liberating decisions made by first time director Oren Moverman. The...

What can I say about Sybil Danning that would be a surprise to anyone? Gorgeous, talented, fun to watch. In whatever project she appears, Danning is always completely committed. Watching her as I have over the years, I see not only chops, but a healthy sense of humor as well. I feel like she “gets it,” if that makes any sense. (And after this interview, I’m even more of a fan.) Courtesy of friend Fred Olen Ray, Danning joins all the vampire fun on The Lair in this third season.
Sean Abley: We’ve actually met very briefly—I moderated the Lair panel for the Fangoria Weekend of Horrors in La months ago. I was incredibly intimidated by meeting you. You’re Sybil Danning! Danny Trejo, known for his muscle bound tattooed body and chiselled bad looks, finally gets some real documentation to answer some of the questions audiences have been asking themselves for years. His countless appearances (something over 100 by now) in films and his reputation for tough guy characters, has earned him the well-deserved respect as a hard worker on set and true-to-life actor. It’s clear from the start that the term type-cast shouldn’t even become a question with Trejo, who at the age of 25 had no acting abilities, other than the life experiences he brings with him. His face alone is like a canvas, every crevice a different story, every scar a different tale and it’s for these unique features that he was able to secure a nice spot within Hollywood as the tough guy. In Joe Eckardt’s 2005 release Champion, Trejo recounts his struggle for redemption against his troubled life involving drugs,...

Arnold Schwarzenegger is set to make a cameo appearance in Sly Stallone’s 80s-throwback-actioner The Expendables. Add this to the casting of Mickey Rourke and Danny Trejo (the big, scary Mexican dude in everything from Con Air to Grindhouse), and Stallone finds himself with one of the most anticipated films of the year.
They join the already impressive cast of Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Forest Whitaker, former Ufc Champion Randy “The Natural” Couture and Eric Roberts (replacing Ben Kingsley).
Arnie will only be shooting for one day, and will be playing himself. Presumably in politician mode.
The movie follows a group of “expendable” mercenaries (Stallone, Statham and Li) ordered to South America to overthrow a ruthless dictator.
Van Damme was offered a role too, but (stupidly) turned it down. Here’s what he told Total Film -
