The jokes will extend well past April 1st on HBO and HBO Max.
“Barry” returns for its fourth and final season. After the shocking Season 3 finale which saw Barry (Billy Hader) getting arrested and Cousineau (Henry Winkler) being hailed as a hero, there will be plenty of consequences for both. The dark comedy premieres on April 16 with two episodes.
“A Black Lady Sketch Show” will also bring plenty of laughs when it returns for its fourth season. The sketch comedy series premieres April 14.
On the drama side, the limited series “Love and Death” premieres on April 27. It’s based on the true story of Candy (Elizabeth Olsen) and Pat Montgomery (Patrick Fugit) and Betty (Lily Rabe) and Allan Gore (Jesse Plemons) – two churchgoing couples enjoying their small-town Texas life… until an extramarital affair leads somebody to pick up an axe.

With its list of new releases for April 2023, HBO Max is premiering the final episodes of two major shows.
First up is the continuation of Titans season 4 on April 13. Returning after a four month hiatus, these next six episodes will be the last go around for HBO Max’s gritty live-action DC series. Arriving three days later on HBO proper is the fourth and final season of Barry. Bill Hader and the rest of the Barry team wrote themselves into a fascinating corner with the conclusion of season 3. And judging by the first teasers for season 4, this final batch of episodes will indeed catch up with our favorite actor/hitman in prison.
Other TV shows of note this month include the Pete Davidson-starring animated series Fired on Mars on April 20 (light ’em up) the the Elizabeth Olsen-starring true crime story Love & Death on April 27.

Bill Hader returns for one final season of Barry and the popular sketch comedy A Black Lady Sketch Show kicks off its fourth season on HBO Max in April 2023. Additional highlights of the streaming service’s April lineup include the debut of Love & Death, a limited series starring Elizabeth Olsen and Patrick Fugit; season two of Somebody Somewhere with Bridget Everett; and the return of 100 Foot Wave for a second season.
In addition, the Titans mid-season premiere arrives on April 13. HBO Max offers this description of the fourth and final season’s remaining episodes: “The Titans – with the exception of Gar – are returned to the Temple of Trigon and rush to find Sebastian and Mother Mayhem before Sebastian summons Trigon. Along the way, they come across a prophecy that may require Kory to make a huge sacrifice to save the world.

In the final season of HBO Max’s “Barry,” premiering on April 16, Barry’s arrest for the murder of Cousineau’s girlfriend leads to a shocking conclusion. Barry (Bill Hader), a hitman who stumbles into acting, explores the dark, often comedic underbelly of both LA gangsters and Hollywood. Henry Winkler stars as Cousineau, Barry’s acting teacher and the man forced to confront the reality of his former student.
Watch the “Barry” season 4 trailer:
Another crime story will come to HBO Max in April, although this one is based on a true story. “Love & Death” revolves around the murder of Betty Gore (played by Lily Rabe) in a small Texas town in 1980. Her husband Alan (Jesse Plemons) has an affair with Candy (Elizabeth Olsen), who attends their church. Suddenly, the thrills turn deadly. Candy picks up an ax, whacks her rival over 40 times, and then claims self-defense. The new...

One afternoon in the early aughts, Melissa George found herself in a hotel room with Harvey Weinstein. The mogul, wearing a bathrobe, wanted to discuss two roles in his upcoming films Derailed and Amityville Horror. An assistant waited in the hallway, but then, fortunately, so did George’s ‘entourage’.
“I actually was very well protected back then,” George tells me via Zoom, speaking from a park in Paris, with one of her sons in her lap. “My agent at the time said, ‘You’re not going to that meeting alone.’ And [Weinstein] realized that I came with bodyguards and back-up.”
With her team lurking, he made no inappropriate moves, beyond his choice of attire. But then, a week before shooting on Derailed began, the lead role earmarked for George was mysteriously demoted to a supporting one. She believes this is absolutely because of that tightly-controlled Peninsula hotel meeting.

We’re still a couple of weeks out from The Boys returning with its second season, but based on the footage we’ve seen so far, it certainly looks as if we’re in for another wild ride. One that may even top the first run of the show, which was one of the best things that we’d seen on television in a long time.
Of course, trying to predict how something as crazy as The Boys is going to end up is a fool’s errand, but let’s not forget that it won’t be the only new thing arriving on Amazon Prime in September. Far from it, in fact.
Earlier today, the streaming service announced their entire line-up of new titles for next month and it’s a meaty list, comprising both films and television shows. And though The Boys may be the highlight for many...

An election season is fast-approaching in the U.S. So for its new releases in September 2020, Amazon Prime is bringing back one of its most political shows.
The Boys season 2 premieres its first three episodes on September 4. Though the show on its face is a superhero story, viewers of season 1 will know it’s really about America’s troubling embrace of entertainment with fascism. Sounds fun and not at all terrifying right before a presidential election!
That’s not the only bleak Amazon original on the schedule for September. British TV adaptation Utopia arrives on September 25. This Gillian Flynn-produced series follows fans of a comic book who believe it predicts…world-ending pandemics. Darn it. Amazon’s only original film this month is a…documentary about voter suppression from Liz Garbus called All In: The Fight for Democracy. Yikes.

As one of the weirder “back to school” seasons in living memory rolls out, Hulu is heading back to school in its own way for September 2020.
The biggest Hulu original arriving to the streaming services stream this month is season 2 of coming-of-age comedy Pen15…which of course stars two adults who have already come of age playing their middle school selves.
Speaking of middle school, perhaps the biggest non-original addition to the Hulu library this month is the arrival of all The Twilight Saga movies on September 1. That should prove to be a real nostalgia trip for interested parties. Other library titles of note include Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle, The Terminator, and 2019’s Judy on September 25.
Bookending Hulu’s originals this month is another intriguing comedy, Woke. This series will star Lamorne Morris as a Black cartoonist who gets an unexpected wakeup call.

Cliché: a phrase, expression, or idea that has been overused to the point of losing its intended force or novelty, especially when at some time it was considered distinctively forceful or novel.
With Hollywood producing so many movies ever year, it is no surprise that they are often full of clichés. Jeff Smith created this montage under the Bottoms Up Productions label for acclaimed movie blog FilmDrunk.com, showing clips of some of the biggest movie clichés from a total of 102 films. Take One: Blue Velvet (1986)
“She... Wore... Bluuuuuue Vel-vet.” Indeed she did: bluer than velvet was the night. Ladies and gentlemen, Rossellini was the Blue Lady, Miss Dorothy Vallens, in David Lynch’s mid-eighties masterpiece Blue Velvet. Vallens was a tortured torch singer, a gas-guzzling freakopath Frank Booth’s (Dennis Hopper) late-night inviter and pervy amateur detective Jeffrey Beaumont’s (Kyle MacLachlan) sexual initiation vixen. And yet, behind it all, lay a fretful wife and mother. Rossellini’s introductory scene in the film showed her as a midnight siren, a depressed blue dahlia who, once done with her sad, strange rendition of Bobby Vinton’s titular song, seems to dematerialise into a pair of Lynch’s signature red curtains.
After she finds snooping Jeffrey in her closet she’s both defender of her home and explorer of her own dark thoughts. She’s furious,...

David Logan ("Circus") wrote the script and Steven Sawalich ("Music Within") and Gil Adler ("Superman Returns") are producing the picture. Once again, you've got to hand it to most of the Twilight stars. Taylor Lautner might be doing everything he can to become the next Tom Cruise (without the couch hopping, we hope), but the rest are filling their non-Twilight time with a whole range of indie projects -- and Jackson Rathbone's is surely the most challenging to date. Variety reports that he will star in an indie drama called Truckstop with Jennifer Lawrence.
Written by Tony Aloupis (with revisions by Steve Grabowsky and director Rotimi Rainwater), the indie focuses on a man with cerebral palsy who works at a truck stop while caring for his dying father. There, he befriends "a troubled young prostitute," because in the land of movies, almost any woman, especially one at a truck stop, has to be a prostitute.

Michael Sheen, who portrays Volturi Clan's leader Aro on upcoming movie "The Twilight Saga's New Moon", has been confirmed to join the cast ensemble of Joseph Kosinski-directed film "Tron Legacy". Speaking in an interview with ComingSoon.net, Sheen says he will portray a nightclub host in the Tron world.
"That was amazing, because there's a lot of green screen in that," Sheen told ComingSoon.net about the film, which is planned to be released in U.S. theaters on December 17, 2010. There's always a seriously talented actor making his or her way through the world of cinema, destined for either critical superstardom or complete obscurity. These days, it seems to be Michael Sheen. The man has made his way through the world of film. He's tackled Shakespeare, and other literary names like Reilly and Wilde. He gets many chances to play Tony Blair. He kicked ass in Music Within and the more recent Frost/Nixon.
But he's also the man of werewolves and vampires. The man has got range. After a whopping three Underworld films as Lucian, The Vancouver Sun reports that he's now joining the world of lusty teen vampires with Twilight. In the upcoming New Moon, he'll play Aro, the mind-reading leader of the Italian vamp clan called Volturi -- basically the royal family of bloodsuckers. When it came time to cast the film version of Frost/Nixon, Michael Sheen had one valuable fan in his corner: the show's playwright, Peter Morgan. "Peter had said he would only give the film to someone who would cast me as Frost," Sheen says. "Which is basically blackmail, and not exactly how you want to get a part." Morgan had good reason to lobby for the actor. In addition to Frost/Nixon, Sheen has appeared in three of the writer's works and has consistently hit it out of the park. Their collaboration began with the 2003 TV movie The Deal, in which Sheen portrayed Prime Minister Tony Blair of Great Britain. He reprised the role opposite Helen Mirren as the title character in 2006's Oscar-winning The Queen. And in 2009, Sheen will star as soccer coach Brian Clough in The Damn United, scripted by Morgan. Sheen also plans to play Blair...

Is Jack Black replacing Matt Damon in the Bourne franchise? Thankfully, no, however The Hollywood Reporter tells us the funnyman has teamed back up with Kung Fu Panda writers Jonathan Aibel and Glenn Berger for a live-action comedic take on The Bourne Identity. In the film, Black will play some dude who washes up on the shores of Cuba with no memory of who he is or how he got there. Of course, he automatically believes he's a superspy (thanks Hollywood!), though nothing could be further from the truth. Sounds like a funny premise -- but is Black the right one for the role?

Is Jack Black replacing Matt Damon in the Bourne franchise? While the thesp concentrates on roles that land him 'critical acclaim', Michael Sheen likes to switch things up from time to time. For a perfect example watch The Queen, then Music Within, and wrap it up on Underworld. That's right, one of these films doesn't belong.
Well, Sheen is at it again with two films off his beaten path.
Michael Sheen for Alice in Wonderland
While we haven't been told on what or who Michael Sheen will be playing, it has been confirmed that the actor has landed a last-minute role in Alice in Wonderland. Directed by Tim Burton, the film features Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter.

You need an Erin Brockovich to sock home points about toxic waste. So Music Within will hook the audience up with a supremely cool and witty real-life character, Richard Pimentel (well played by Ron Livingston), who then escorts you through his life as a disabled Vietnam veteran, motivational speaker, author and passionate activist for the disabled community. So what should be a tough, sentimental slog whisks by in a breezy, entertaining 94 minutes like a kind of illustrated stand-up comedy routine.
Of course, the challenge faced by MGM is to persuade an audience to risk seeing a movie about events leading up to the landmark Americans With Disabilities Act. The film opens today in 10 markets and will need strong critical support in tandem with MGM's marketing to create awareness. The film Will More than likely make its mark in cable and DVD markets.
Pimentel literally has written the handbook on how to work with the disabled. He is a pioneer in the civil rights effort to integrate the disabled into normal American life, much of this because of his own personal magnetism.
Livingston and director Steven Sawalich keep the character in constant motion, his dialogue sprinkled with humor and his energy contagious. The film also is surrounded by a crew of ferociously individualistic characters. That starts with Pimentel's mom Rebecca De Mornay), mentally unbalanced and unable to accept or love him. Only to hear him tell it, life with Mom is bitterly funny. Especially those bimonthly suicide attempts, each to celebrate the "birthday" of a different child she lost in miscarriages.
His mother's erratic behavior and father's death produce, against all odds, a deeply ambitious man who finds his true calling in public speaking. But a college speech professor (Hector Elizondo) curtly rejects him for a scholarship because he has no point of view.
Richard joins the military. A bomb blast during a tour of duty in Vietnam robs him of much of his hearing. Returning to the same Portland, Ore., campus, he falls in with his "traveling freak show": Mike Stoltz (Yul Vazquez), a fellow veteran filled with rage, and Art Honeyman (Michael Sheen, just terrific), a wheelchair-bound student afflicted with cerebral palsy and a wicked wit. The lover Richard chooses, Christine (Melissa George), is beautiful, blond and normal but believes in open relationships, so he is forced to share her with another man.
He quits a lucrative job to get disabled people jobs, which he and Mike prove supremely good at. When a restaurant refuses to serve Art a birthday breakfast, their arrest turns him into an activist.
The screenplay by Bret McKinney & Mark Andrew Olsen and Kelly Kennemer does a fine job of shoehorning the events of Pimentel's colorful life into a tight but jaunty structure. It also helps that the film can explore mental illness, war injuries, gross disabilities, suicide, lost love and parental rejection and never loose its optimistic nature. It's the opposite of Pollyanna-ism; this group goes in for naughty, mordant humor that deflects all the negativity and prejudice.
The Vietnam sequences, filmed in the Philippines, give evidence of a limited budget, but all other sequences shot in Oregon yield a rich sense of era and place along with a soundtrack of golden oldies.

Ron Livingston has joined Eric Bana and Rachel McAdams in "The Time Traveler's Wife", New Line Cinema's adaptation of the Audrey Niffenegger novel being directed by Robert Schwentke. Plan B and Nick Wechsler are producing the picture.
The book tells the story of a dashing librarian (Bana) at Chicago's Newberry Library who has a gene that causes him to involuntarily time travel. He must help his wife cope with the many complications of his disorder as the two are often out of sync.
Livingston will play the man's friend, a liberal attorney who works for nonprofit organizations.
A September shoot in Toronto is being planned.
Jeremy Leven and Bruce Joel Rubin wrote the adaptation.
Overseeing for the studio are Richard Brener, Cale Boyter and Michele Weiss.
Livingston recently starred off-Broadway in the Neil LaBute play "In a Dark, Dark House". He starred in the TV series "Standoff" and next appears on the big screen in the fall in the indie film "The Music Within", in which he stars opposite Michael Sheen and Melissa George, as well as the indie drama "Holly", which was shot on location in Cambodia and has screened at several festivals.
