Image Source: Getty / Gregg DeGuire Kit Harington and Rose Leslie, once pretty quiet about their relationship, have become one of our favorite celebrity couples with each and every new story we hear about them. As if it wasn't bad (or great?) enough that Kit once left a Game of Thrones prop of his severed head in the refrigerator to scare his fiancée on April Fools' Day, it turns out that Rose is just as savage as him. Kit recently revealed to Heat magazine that when they were once getting ready for a costume party, Rose had the perfect dress-up idea for Kit: Jon Snow. Should be easy, right? He has all the necessary accoutrements? Well, no. Rose made her man wear a plastic-bagged, knockoff "You know nothing" costume from the store for the "bad taste"-themed party. "She pulled out a Jon Snow costume, and Rose just whispered in my ear,...

You may know Kit Harington as Jon Snow from Game of Thrones, but did you know his real name isn't actually Kit? If you didn't, don't feel bad - because Kit didn't know either until he was 11. While chatting with Interview back in 2013, the 30-year-old heartthrob revealed that he "was called Kit from day one" and that he "only found out my name was Christopher when I was 11. . . . It was very strange, I went to school, and I remember that you had to do these tests to find out what set you're in - how clever you are," he recalled. "I put down 'Kit Harington,' and they looked at me like I was completely stupid, and they said, 'No, you're Christopher Harington, I'm afraid.' It was only then I learned my actual name. That was kind of a bizarre existential crisis for an 11-year-old to have, but...

Ricardo Cortez in 'Ten Cents a Dance,' with Barbara Stanwyck. No matter how unthankful the role, whether hero or heel – or, not infrequently, a combination of both – Cortez left his bedroom-eyed, mellifluous-voiced imprint in his pre-Production Code talkies. Besides Barbara Stanwyck, during the 1920s and 1930s Cortez made love to and/or life difficult for, a whole array of leading ladies of that era, including Bebe Daniels, Gloria Swanson, Betty Compson, Betty Bronson, Greta Garbo, Florence Vidor, Claudette Colbert, Mary Astor, Kay Francis, Joan Crawford, Irene Dunne, Joan Blondell, and Loretta Young*. (See previous post: “Ricardo Cortez Q&A: From Latin Lover to Multiethnic Heel.”) Not long after the coming of sound, Ricardo Cortez was mostly relegated to playing subordinate roles to his leading ladies – e.g., Kay Francis, Irene Dunne, Claudette Colbert – or leads in “bottom half of the double bill” programmers at Warner Bros. or on loan to other studios. Would...

What is it about this big, dumb movie that gets me every time?
You can go ahead and sheathe your Tweets, we are well aware that 1987’s Over the Top is a flawed piece of cinema. It’s called Over the Top for crying out loud; if ever the writing was on the wall. However, there is something about this spectacular failed attempt to take the sport of armwrestling mainstream that continues to delight and inspire this writer and the other hosts of the Junkfood Cinema podcast. If you currently sneer at “that movie where Sylvester Stallone armwrestles for custody of his son,” allow me to offer an argument in favor of Over the Top. Look, just read it, ok? Meet me halfway.

Kit Harington is getting personal. In a recent interview with Elle, the Game of Thrones star opened up about losing his virginity. Unlike his character, Jon Snow, Kit says his first time "was a little less left field than in a cave," adding, "It was a typical sort of teenage thing at a party. I was probably too young." When asked if he was 13 years old when it happened, he responded, "No, but you're not far off. I think the girl and I just kind of wanted to. You either hold on and do it right, or you're young and decide to get the monkey off your back." Of course, Kit isn't the first star to kiss and tell. Since then, she's starred in critically acclaimed films like Ray, For Colored Girls, and Django Unchained and has us completely captivated with her role as Olivia Pope on the ABC hit show Scandal, for which she's received Golden Globe and Emmy nominations. Off screen, Kerry's life has been pretty golden as well; she and husband Nnamdi Asomugha welcomed their daughter Isabelle in April 2014, and became parents again when their son Caleb was born in October 2016. Like the rest of us, Kerry fell victim to some of the more unfortunate fashion trends in the 2000s - like denim maxi skirts, woven belts, and skinny scarves - but she's clearly come out on the other side. On October 10, 2016, Carrie Fisher tap-danced across the stage at the New York Film Festival. In town for a glitzy screening of a candid new documentary about her relationship with her similarly iconic mother — the actress, singer, indomitable show-woman, and amateur Hollywood historian Debbie Reynolds — Fisher was in fine form, expressing the acidic sense of humor that has always separated her from Princess Leia, displaying that unique flair for running head-first into all of life’s hurdles and using them as kindling for her brilliant fire.
During the Q&A after the movie — visible to all in the clip below — Carrie’s brother called Reynolds and held his cell phone up to the mic so that she could sing to the crowd from her sick bed in California. The 84-year-old voice was coarse, but still quivered with a natural beauty. Co-director Fisher Stevens (who shares credit with Alexis Bloom) sat back...

Attention fellow Beverly Hills, 90210 geeks!
In what might be the most epic TV reunion ever, 90210 stars Jennie Garth (Kelly), Luke Perry (Dylan) Jason Priestley (Brandon) and Tori Spelling (Donna) got together for REWindCon in Bloomingdale, Illinois over the weekend.
Exclusive: Shannon Doherty Honored With Courage Award
Sixteen years after the Fox show's final episode, the '80s and '90s-focused fan convention saw the actors unite for photos, panels and meet-and-greets. And, while one of their most memorable co-stars, Shannen Doherty, could not attend due to breast cancer treatments, the group made her presence felt with heartfelt tributes.
“None of us are up here today without Shannen,” said Perry, who played Doherty’s on-screen boyfriend, Dylan, for years. “She’s been through a lot. She’s not doing well right now, but sometimes her contributions are minimized.”
“She’s been thrown under the bus,” the Riverdale star continued. “I’ve been accused of driving it. But she’s a...

Many of us, during this election cycle, have found us switching from live TV to our Netflix queues in search of escapism. But because the two people currently running for president of the United States have been in the public eye for decades, there’s always a danger that you might be reminded, on-screen or through some clever joke, that November 8 is coming.
By the numbers, odds are pretty good that between the two candidates, the one you’ll see will be Donald Trump. According to IMDb, since 1981 Donald Trump has made over 230 film and television appearances — 219 as “Self” and 20 as an actor usually playing “Donald Trump,” though there may be some overlap between the two.

Kit Harington might not have taken home the award for outstanding supporting actor for his work in Game of Thrones, but that doesn't mean he didn't still have an incredible night. Along with the rest of the show's cast, Kit couldn't stop smiling as he made his way down the red carpet, hilariously presented an award with Andy Samberg, and even snapped cute selfies with Kerry Washington and Amy Schumer. His girlfriend and former costar, Rose Leslie, might not have been by his side, but thanks to Game of Thrones winning outstanding drama series (and Andy accepting his proposal), it looks like he still had a pretty spectacular experience. Last Week’S Review: ‘Game of Thrones’ Keeps The Violence Off Screen As Battles Build
Every week this season, Indiewire will be bringing you a unique collection of viewpoints on “Game of Thrones,” as it is a show that elicits a unique sort of reactions. Our writers are well-versed in the world of the show and the culture surrounding it, and we look forward to seeing how their opinions fare in the cutthroat world of Westeros… Sorry, that is, the cutthroat world of television criticism.
What Happened This Week?
If you were thinking that this week’s episode would be nothing but epic battles, you were technically incorrect. That said, there were two important battlefield clashes in “The Battle of Bastards.”
First, Daenerys fought off slaver forces with both dragons and diplomacy, per the advice of Tyrion — because no one tells Daenerys that her reign is over. In fact, her reign has just begun,...

Cleganebowl has been tragically unconfirmed thanks to King Tommen, but fret not: Bastardbowl is coming. The next episode of “Game of Thrones” looks hype indeed, having already been submitted by showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss for Emmy consideration in five categories (including writing and directing) and boasting a full 60-minute runtime. Eight pictures from “Battle of the Bastards” have been released.

Every one of them centers around Bastardbowl (as fans have taken to calling it), which finds Jon Snow, Sansa Stark and their loyalists looking to reclaim Winterfell from the usurper Ramsay Bolton. (Snow and Bolton were both born out of wedlock, hence the title.) The episode was directed by Miguel Sapochnik, who also helmed last season’s standout (and battle-intensive) “Hardhome.”

A worrying number of fan favorites are present, including the likes of “onion knight” Ser Davos, wildling Tormund Giantsbane and giant Wun Wun. We can only hope the old gods and the new look favorably upon them as they endeavor to restore the North to its former glory.

Next week’s penultimate episode of “Game of Thrones” has everyone excited, thanks to two factors: the revealing title, “Battle of the Bastards,” and the short HBO teaser that previews the showdown between Jon Snow and Ramsay Bolton.
Read More: Review: ‘Game of Thrones’ Keeps The Violence Off Screen As Battles Build
The official teaser, however, pales in comparison to a new fan-made trailer for the episode, edited from show footage by YouTube user ControvT. Set to a dramatic soundtrack, the video rehashes all the major events that led to the upcoming Northern showdown, including Ned and Robb Stark’s murder, Sansa’s rape, and various other atrocities committed by the Boltons.
HBO’s episode description is less than helpful in revealing the events of Episode 9, saying merely, “Terms of surrender are rejected and accepted,” but the clash of Northern families is sure to be one of the biggest, bloodiest battles in “Game of Thrones” history. The HBO hit has a history of making Episode 9 the biggest and most painful in the season — see “Hardhome,” “Blackwater,” and “The Red Wedding” for evidence — so odds are good that Sunday’s showdown will not disappoint.
Prepare for battle with the fan-made trailer below.

The actors, who recently began dating, are costarring as love interests in Hulu's sci-fi fantasy series Dimension 404.
Michele will play the witty, ambitious, type-a (yet warm-hearted) Amanda, who turns to online dating as a rebound after a bad breakup.

What happens when the private persona of a performer bleeds over into the public creative sphere? The line is so fragile it often rends our ability to lose ourselves in the fictional world of art.
Susan Sarandon is an actor and activist now starring in Lorene Scafaria's odd, unexpectedly moving new film The Meddler, in which she speaks with a Joisey accent yet somehow manages to transcend the pitfalls of her potentially clichéd character, a widow graced with too much free time, money, and a daughter (Rose Byrne, a few colors short of a fully dimensional character) who resists her arrival in the younger woman's adopted home, Los Angeles.
Onscreen, Sarandon ends up mothering a host of unlikely strangers. Off screen she spent years being scolded for her outspokenness -- like Jane Fonda, before both women's place in popular culture shifted to approval for continuing to bare their beautiful...

Outfitted with a new score and title sequence, reedited sans several scenes involving the woman, and rereleased in 1972, Charlie Chaplin’s first feature length film The Kid has finally made its way to home video in HD thanks to the Cineteca di Bologna’s gloriously meticulous restoration and 4k digital transfer. Originally released back in 1921 after about a half decade of acting and eventually directing wildly popular shorts for Keystone Studios, the Essanay Film Manufacturing Company and finally the Mutual Film Corporation, the film endured a year long production amidst personal and professional crisis. It was thought that Chaplin’s signature brand of comedic slapstick, which typically ran just two reels of film, could not support the length of a six reel feature, but as is evidenced within, the film perfectly fuses Chaplin’s penchant for melodrama with his masterful vaudevillian humor to create an astonishingly emotional comedy that plumbs...

All the elements are there: a post-apocalyptic dystopia, a winsome female protagonist who stands up to become the world's champion, an imperiled younger sibling and the winning combination of light science fiction and teenaged angst. Paul Dano has the kind of body language that speaks before he does. On screen, he is often twisted, lopsided, stooped, crunched or otherwise cramped in a way that instantly and viscerally communicates vulnerability. Off screen, wandering into a cafe in Manhattan, he is mildly diffident, like someone who might try to read a book while walking along. “Oh my goodness!” he says vaguely as we settle in, and there is something about Dano’s politeness and thoughtfulness that makes one want to ring to congratulate his mother.
