“A Murder at the End of the World” creator, director and actor Brit Marling traced the whodunnit genre back to “between the First and the Second World War, which makes sense because that was another time that everyone was kind of looking around and being like, okay, who did this? How did we get to the place that we’re in? And it felt very much like that’s where we were and where we still are.” That led her and her creative partner Zal Batmanglij to develop a whodunnit of their own. Watch our exclusive video interview with Marling above.

Former President Donald Trump angered murder victim Ruby Garcia’s family for falsely claiming that he had spoken to family members.
Authorities stated that Ruby was found shot dead on the US-131 highway near Grand Rapids, Michigan, on March 22.
Brandon Ortiz-Vite, a Mexican-born man living in the U.S. unlawfully and the victim’s boyfriend, was arrested days later and confessed.
Authorities later said that he entered the United States as a child and had already been deported in September 2020.
On April 2, Trump delivered a speech during a campaign event in Grand Rapids, Michigan, in which he used the murder to emphasize what he called President Joe Biden‘s “border bloodbath.”
During the rally, the former president used this murder to illustrate his aggressive position on immigration and crime.
“Ruby’s loved ones and community are left grieving for this incredible young woman, remembering what they called her,” Trump declared during the campaign event.

The trailer of Murder Mubarak introduces the setting of the crime at the Royal Delhi Club, where a number of high society guests have been invited. The voiceover informs that this space was made by the British, and also served the British.
Now that the British have left, they have left behind some members who are ‘more English’ than them.
By the way, did we mention that the usual suspects include Sara Ali Khan, Vijay Varma, Dimple Kapadia, Karisma Kapoor, Sanjay Kapoor, Tisca Chopra. All of them, at some point are suspected murderers but they all lack any form of remorse. Pankaj Tripathi won’t have it easy detangling this murder mystery, which means there is suspense galore.
The film also stars Suhail Nayyar. The trailer ends with a warning of sorts from Pankaj Tripathi that the most dangerous trait of a murderer could be that they are ordinary.

Before Sophie Ellis-Bextor’s “Murder on the Dancefloor” became a 2024 viral hit thanks to Saltburn, it was a major European hit in 2002. And before it was a 2002 hit, it was merely a demo, scribbled out partially by its co-writer, Gregg Alexander — who originally wrote the lyrics “I’m gonna make us hit the Hague/ Once you hit the bong.”
Alexander, who was also the frontman and songwriter for New Radicals, best known for their hit “You Get What You Give,” revealed the origins of “Murder on the Dancefloor” in a new interview with The Guardian. He unearthed the song’s original demo, which he wrote in his Mustang in the mid ’90s while living in Detroit.
“I had a moment of annoyance that I couldn’t go to the house clubs in Detroit,” Alexander told The Guardian, sharing that he originally had written the song for his band before it...

“Murder on the Dancefloor” once had lyrics about bong hits and the Hague, with co-writer Gregg Alexander (of the New Radicals) sharing part of the old demo for the future Sophie Ellis-Bextor hit with The Guardian.
Alexander wrote “Murder on the Dancefloor” in the mid-90s, and the demo snippet definitely bears some hallmarks of the era. Though it still has the big, bright synth stabs and riffs essential to Ellis-Bextor’s version, it’s more pop-rock than disco pastiche, cut with hits of rave and hip-hop that feel very of that moment.

Comic book author Brian Michael Bendis has set a first-look deal with Amazon is already developing three TV series under the new pact based on his previous works: “Jinx,” “Murder Inc.” and “Pearl.”
“Jinx” is a crime-ridden love story unfolding on a high stakes treasure hunt, per Amazon’s series description. Our players are: Jinx Alameda, a bounty hunter at the top of her game who’s tired of her grimy life; Goldfish, a charming con man and wanted felon who falls head over heels for Jinx; and Columbia, Goldfish’s loose-cannon partner, who has big criminal dreams. Their paths join when they’re pulled into a search for missing mob money — a payout so big that it lures them away from the familiar streets of Cleveland, into a dangerous, unpredictable misadventure that will change the course of their lives.
“Jinx” is executive produced by Bendis along with showrunners Ayelet Waldman and Michael Chabon.

Barry Keoghan is not afraid to bare it all, and that’s why he managed to go all out in his performance in Emerald Fennell’s Saltburn. He portrayed Oliver Quick, an Oxford University student invited to a luxurious estate owned by Jacob Elordi’s Felix and family.

In the movie’s final scene, Keoghan is seen dancing naked in full-frontal shots around the mansion. In the background, Sophie Ellis-Bextor’s Murder on the Dancefloor can be heard by the viewers.

They’ve all done it. Agatha Christie invented Ariadne Oliver. Kurt Vonnegut invented Kilgore Trout. Stephen King invented Paul Sheldon… Novelists can’t resist putting novelists at the centre of their books, often for sly satires on fandom, fame and the publishing world itself. Now, mega-successful crime author Richard Osman has written a book about a mega-successful crime author.
Osman announced last year that he was planning to take a break from his best-selling retirement village-set The Thursday Murder Club series, and writing a brand new novel. Now, he’s announced the first details of that book, and revealed its cover and title. Out in September 2024, Richard Osman’s next book published by Penguin Books will be We Solve Murders.
As explained in the video below, We Solve Murders is the story of an unlikely trio doing just that, but unlike the mismatched retirement community Thursday gang, these characters are globe-trotting sleuths.

Anybody who looked carefully at the Christmas presents unwrapped by the family in Kenneth Branagh’s autobiographically inspired 1969-set film Belfast will have spotted a copy of Agatha Christie’s The Hallowe’en Party. It was an Easter egg for the eagle-eyed, teasing which Hercule Poirot story the actor-director and screenwriter Michael Green were planning to tackle next on the big screen, after 2017’s Murder on the Orient Express and 2022’s Death on the Nile.
Green and Branagh took several liberties with The Hallowe’en Party, changing its title to A Haunting in Venice, much of its plot, and moving it from the English village of Woodleigh Common to the ghostly, mist-filled streets and canals of Venice. They wanted to venture into uncharted territory for their third Christie adaptation, and the result was an atmospheric horror-tinged treat.
So what’s next? There’ve been no official announcements, so short of...

In 2017, on the press circuit for his first Hercule Poirot film Murder on the Orient Express, Kenneth Branagh was asked by French newspaper Le Figaro to name his three favourite Agatha Christie Novels. The actor-director picked Orient Express, of course, and two others: The Murder of Roger Ackroyd, published in 1926, and, published a decade later in 1936, Murder in Mesopotamia.
“I like one, Roger Ackroyd, because it’s deep in the heart of England so it’s classic Christie, village green…,” said Branagh. “And the other one because it’s in a super-exotic archaeological dig and she knew those really well so you feel in both of those cases amazing detail. She knows what she’s writing about.”
Christie would know the setting for Murder in Mesopotamia, an archaeological dig in Iraq, having spent several months on expeditions in Iraq and Syria with her second husband, archaeologist Sir Max Mallowan.

David Gail, best known for his work on Beverly Hills, 90210, and Port Charles, passed away at 58.
News of the beloved actor’s death first broke via Instagram by Peter Ferriero, the Beverly Hills 90210 Show podcast host.
Peter revealed over the weekend that he had just been informed of the scene-stealer’s passing but noted that he was “grateful” to have had the opportunity to chat with him.
Gail is best known to teen drama fans for playing Stuart Carson, the love interest of Shannen Doherty’s Brenda Walsh.
Although he had a recurring role from 1993-94, his character significantly impacted Brenda, and their initial dynamic enthralled fans.
Sadly, the relationship just wasn’t built to last. Teen dramas tend to put their characters through the wringer before they find their endgame love.

The Gilgo-Beach murder case suspect, Rex Heuermann, 60, was charged with a fourth killing this week, after being charged with three first-degree murder counts in the killings of escorts Melissa Barthelemy, Amber Costello, and Megan Waterman in July 2023. This week, he pleaded not guilty to the second-degree murder charge of Maureen Brainard-Barnes, who was reported missing in 2007.
In attendance at the hearing were Heuermann’s ex-wife, Asa Ellerup, and 26-year-old daughter, Victoria, whose trash found on the Long Island Rail Road by undercover detectives helped tie Heuermann to Maureen Brainard-Barnes.
Detectives collected DNA samples from a discarded drink from Heuermann’s daughter, along with various samples from Ellerup, and connected the DNA to a hair found wrapped in the belt buckle used to restrain Brainard-Barnes. They also used an old pizza box collected from the suspect’s home to connect the link to DNA evidence found at the crime scene.

Say what you will about "Saltburn" -- the film that /Film's own Jacob Hall touted as the "feel bad" comedy of 2023 -- Emerald Fennell's follow-up to "Promising Young Woman" has inspired a bit of pearl-clutching and eye-rolling in equal measure. Its "twist" ending, admittedly, isn't all that surprising but the film's final moments more than make up for any alleged predictability.
"Saltburn" derives its name from the ancestral home of a well-to-do English family, and the bulk of its action takes place on the lush property in the summer of 2007. When golden boy Felix (Jacob Elordi) brings his lower-class friend Oliver (Barry Keoghan) home for the holiday, a sultry, psychosexual class war ensues. Its descent into madness is chalk full of depraved yearning, posh dinner parties, and laugh-out-loud line readings. "Saltburn" is a film best experienced cold, but among its most talked-about scenes is its final closing moment.

The Janus-headed The Facts of Murder looks back to the earlier neorealist docudramas of director, co-writer, and star Pietro Germi, while also presaging the sharply observed satirical outlook of films like Divorce Italian Style and Seduced and Abandoned. In the film, the comedic elements are mostly limited to the broad, almost caricatural handling of bumbling secondary characters. The primary storyline, involving an investigation into two ostensibly related crimes, is handled more like a police procedural along the lines of Jules Dassin’s The Naked City, albeit without that film’s authoritative narration.
The Facts of Murder’s central location is an apartment block. Quickly sketching in a number of characters and their relationships in the aftermath of the opening burglary, the film codes the victim, Commendatore Anzaloni (Ildebrando Santafe), as gay, and it’s suggested that the criminal might’ve been one of his pickups. But the focus of...

Note: The following story contains spoilers from the final episode of “A Murder at the End of the World.”
“A Murder at the End of the World” revealed the identity of its elusive killer. The FX limited series resolved its central mystery with a heartbreaking reveal that led to fires, answers and a quick getaway.
The start of Episode 6 picked up with Darby (Emma Corrin) convinced that the abusive billionaire Andy (Clive Owen) was the culprit of all the deaths at the retreat that started with the murder of Bill (Harris Dickinson), but she quickly learned that the answer was a lot more complicated and disturbing. Further sleuthing revealed that Zoomer (Kellan Tetlow), Andy and Lee’s (Brit Marling) son — who was revealed to be Bill’s biological son in an earlier episode — was tricked into killing Bill by Ray (Edoardo Ballerini), the artificial intelligence assistant at the retreat.

The Arconia has seen its fair share of dead bodies. Like Jessica Fletcher's quiet coastal town of Cabot Cove on Murder, She Wrote, this beautifully historic apartment building loves to attract murder.
Ever since the first season dropped on Hulu, there seems to be a new mystery that pulls our favorite podcast trio together on Only Murders in the Building.
And just like every True Crime fan or mystery lover, we're at the edge of our seats to solve it. From romances to financial schemes, the trio uncovers all the secrets. We want in!
Though with a fourth murder in a row at the same building, it's never too early to think of how the mysteries can keep growing. Plenty of reveals and secrets have been unearthed before Only Murders In The Building Season 4, so it's time for a little refresh.
Below, we've thought of a few ideas for how to expand the mysteries.

Exclusive: Stanley Tucci is continuing his Italian adventures. However, the actor is moving from CNN to National Geographic with his latest travel docuseries.
Nat Geo has ordered Tucci – The Heart of Italy (w/t), a ten-part series. It comes after the Warner Bros. Discovery-owned network CNN canceled Stanley Tucci: Searching for Italy, which won two Emmys for Outstanding Hosted Nonfiction Series or Special, after two seasons.
At the time, Tucci was confident that he’d find a new home for his adventures and he has.
The series is produced by BBC Studios’ recently formed new unit, Specialist Factual Productions, and Tucci’s own Salt Productions, which he recently founded with Lottie Birmingham. It marks Salt’s first series and production starts in January.
Stanley Tucci: Searching for Italy was produced by All3Media-owned Raw Television.

When the poison fails to kill him, she not only has to quickly concoct a backup plan, but also contend with her husband’s increasing suspicion that his intensifying illness isn’t wholly accidental. What is a TV “comedy” in 2023? In an era of blurred genres, it’s not so cut and dry anymore. Opening Variety’s “A Night in the Writer’s Room,” Variety’s Michael Schneider asked the nine comedy writers on stage to raise their hand if their show features a death. Most did. He followed up by asking, how many of those deaths were murders?
Many kept their hands up high — but holding his hand the highest was “Only Murders in the Building” co-creator John Hoffman “I feel like that’s the beauty of [comedy], that you can kind of do anything … pick a world, be specific about it, be stupid about it, and then you’re good,” Hoffman said of the ability now on television to stretch the definition of comedy.
“It takes a lot of work to subtract comedy from real life,” echoed Boots Riley (“I’m a Virgo”) in...
