Delayed film relying on Sanjay Dutt's star power
nadkarnisumeet9 January 2021
Insaaf Apne Lahoo Se review :

Started in 1987, Insaaf Apne Lahoo Se was a delayed project which saw light of the day only in 1994 after Sanjay Dutt became hot property post his arrest in the 1993 Bombay bomb blasts case. Subhash Ghai's Khalnayak (1993) had already become a blockbuster around the same time and this film clearly tried to cash in on the stars immense popularity.

A lost and found revenge drama; Insaaf Apne Lahoo Se wasnt a bad film for the '80s when it was majorly shot but its delayed release made it appear dated particularly Sanju Baba's hairstyle and looks keep changing in practically every scene. The two heroines - Farha Naaz and Sonam - had quit films by then and fellow co-star Shatrughan Sinha had practically no box office clout left.

The film has the popular Hassan Jahangir song "Hawa Hawa Ae Hawa" which was a rage in the 80s and was copied in quite a few Bollywood films before.

In a significant departure from her image, veteran actor Beena played a sexy vixen who seduces the much married Kulbhushan Kharbanda and sleeps with him. Later, she tries to seduce his step beta Shotgun Sinha as well. Kader Khan played the main villain while Gulshan Grover played his foreign returned nikamma beta - a character he repeated in Ajay Devgan's Vijaypath (1994).

I had seen this film at Citylight cinema, Mahim which had recently opened after renovation that time and the crowd was cheering loudly everytime Sanju Baba appeared on screen.

Regards, Sumeet Nadkarni.

The first 5 mins are really important.
jetkot26 April 2022
This movie took seven years to finish. They started shooting in 1987 and the movie was released in 1994. So you will see Shatrughan Sinha getting chubbier through the film and Sanjay Dutt getting bulkier through the film. Sanjay Dutt's hairstyle keeps changing in every scene. In fact in one scene he enters a party sporting short hair and leaves the party with long hair. Speaking of hairstyles - Gulshan Grover has a unique hairstyle in this movie. He has returned from abroad so he has coloured the left side of his scalp RED and the right side is Silverish but the hair at the back are BLONDE. Only Gullu bhai could carry such a hairstyle.

The first 5 mins are really important. If you miss them then you will never understand the family tree of this movie. I will try to explain it so that you don't get confused

Geeta is a widow. She has a curly haired tweenage son from her first marriage. She marries Kulbhushan Kharbanda now. He is a famous lawyer. He slaps his step son so many times that he leaves the house and says "Bada Hoke Lautoonga , Apna Badla lene"

Beena is married to Pinchoo Kapoor who is a judge. Beena's brother Kader Khan wants her to hook up with the young hotshot lawyer Kulbhushan Kharbanda. So Beena seduces Kulbhushan by offering him a drink and by touching his fingers while he takes the drink.

Then the famous Hasan Jahangir song "Hawa Hawa" plays in the party. Kader Khan gets Pinchoo Kapoor drunk while Kulbhushan and Beena do Koochie Koochie.

Now it's late at night. They drop a drunk Pinchoo Kapoor on the sofa and go to the bedroom to continue their Koochie Koochie. But for some reason instead of using the King size bed, they stand their the window and Wafadar Driver Kaka sees them in the act and goes and complains to Maalkin Geeta.

Geeta comes and rings the doorbell and Pinchoo Kapoor wakes up. He opens the door and she says "Mere Pati Ko Bahaar Bhejo". Pinchoo Kapoor replies "Aapka Pati Yahan kya kar raha hai" to which she replies "Woh mujhe nahin pata, Bas itna pata hai ki woh aapki Jawaan biwi ke bedroom mein hai."

Pinchoo Kapoor goes there with a gun and catches them half naked. But Kulbhushan is young and he snatches the gun and shoots Pinchoo Kapoor. Geeta comes running and says "Is badchalan aurat ke chakkar mein aapne khoon bhi kar diya?"

While saying this she takes the gun in her hand and Beena gets a brilliant idea to frame her for the murder. So Geeta goes to jail.

But surprise surprise Geeta was pregnant with Kulbhushan's child.

So she gives birth to a boy in Jail.. Then Driver Kaka adopts that kid when he is five years old. Driver Kaka has a daughter named Rani and this boy is called Raja.

So the boy grows up to be Sanjay Dutt. The Girl grows up to be Farha and the curly haired son of Geeta who left the house earlier becomes Shatrughan Sinha.

Shatrughan is an underworld don who hides from police under the garb of Dharmatma (a saint) Shekhar Suman plays a cop whose education has been sponsored by Sanjay Dutt. I don't know how he did that because his source of income is through Roadside tamasha where Farha walks on a rope and he shows magic and collects money.

Then there is Sonam. Sonam is driving in a flashy car with Gulshan Grover and they accidentally bump into Sanjay Dutt's Bicycle. Sanjay Dutt gets offended when Gullu bhaiya says "Tum Gareeb Log Hamesha Ameer Ka Gaadi Ke Saamne Aaata hai." (read it like Bob Christoe would). In anger Sanju baba single handedly breaks the windshield of the car with the bicycles handle and it crashes into pieces to which Sonam says "Pehli baar kisi mard se paala pada hai, I like you." So all those wannabe majnus , this is how you become a man. Try it next time you see a girl in a fancy car, break the windshield with your bicycle's handle.

Then Sonam invites Sanjay Dutt to her birthday party. But Sanju baba and Farha tell her that they are Badnaseeb Gareebs and they won't be able to mix in. But in the party they stop the western music and start singing themselves. The song goes like " Ek aur Do - Idhar Dekho.. Teen aur Char - Main hoon woh Naar. Paanch Aur Che- Nigahon Se , Saath aur aaath - Jigar do Kaaat (whatever that means)."

I don't know why I was still watching but then the movie becomes a love triangle between Sonam, Sanjay Dutt and Farha. There are few more unlistenable songs. Then finally the movie turns into a courtroom drama as Beena is murdered and Sanjay Dutt is arrested for her murder.

Sanjay Dutt and Shatrughan Sinha always enter places by jumping through a glass.. The glass pieces shatter everywhere but never hurt them. Also Sonam is Beena's daughter but she calls Kulbhushan Kharbanda as Uncle and not Step-Daddy , probably because they wanted to show her love triangle with Sanju Baba.

Now Sanjay Dutt is presented in court and Sonam is fighting his case. She tells the judge to give her 10 mins because Asli Khooni will reveal himself in 10 mins. They actually show the clock and everyone looking at their watches.

So who will be the Asli Khooni , Everyone is a suspect. I couldn't wait for 10 min as I fell asleep. You can find out.

Delayed film
silvan-desouza4 March 2014
Warning: Spoilers
Im still surprised the film released in 1994, Most of the shooting was done in 1980s,Sanjay Dutt wears his short hair for most of the film(80s) while in some scenes suddenly he has his 90s look. It's so surprising to see a thin Sanju and suddenly a muscled up Sanju The film starts with a 80s style drama where Khulbushan leaves his wife and some drama later he throws his stepson out of the house.Lot of twists and then we are shifted to 20 years later where the stepson is grown up to be Shatrughan Sinha(yes not Sanju) who plays the lead and Sanju a second fiddle. The film seems stuck in 80s with cartoon villains, clichés and is hardly worth mentioning.

Direction is nothing great Music sounds dated

Shatrughan Sinha is as usual but looks too old for his role,Khulbushan is roughly of his age but plays his stepfather, Sanjay Dutt has his 80s look for most of the film and in some scenes he looks like his 90s style, his acting is okay Farha is loud while Sonam is nothing great Khulbushan Kharbanda is good, Kader Khan is as usual, Gulshan Grover annoys, Shekhar Suman is as usual

A Typical 80s film
sanjaychunky1 December 2009
I Am a huge fan of Sanjay Dutt that is the reason I watched this movie. The film released in 1994 but the shooting where most of them made in the 80s. Sanjay Dutt has short and then long hair but was good in his role. Shatrughan Sinha is always a man of dialogs.

The performances are fine of Sanjay and Shatrughan. Gulshan Glover was also good in his part as one of the bad guys. Sonam and Farha are the lady's for Sanjay. Sonam has not many movies in her career but was a beautiful girl. She reminds me of Madhuri Dixit.

The story it's not so good but if you are a fan of Sanjay then you gone like this movie.
