Series regular Alexa Davalos will not be returning for Season 5 of CBS’ “FBI: Most Wanted,” Variety has confirmed.
Hailing from Dick Wolf, “FBI: Most Wanted” focuses on the Fugitive Task Force, an elite unit that relentlessly pursues and captures the notorious criminals on the Bureau’s Most Wanted list. David Hudgins and Todd Arnow executive produce.
Davalos joined the series at the beginning of Season 3, playing the role of Kristin Gaines, a member of the FBI’s Fugitive Task Force and a former Naval Intelligence Officer. Her character’s exit joins the short list of cast shakeups that have taken place on the Wolf Entertainment show. Davalos’ character originally joined the team after Kellan Lutz, another series regular, exited the series. Lutz played Kenny Crosby, who was written off the show in the Season 3 premiere. National Geographic has found its Pablo Picasso. Antonio Banderas has been cast as the famous artist in the second season of “Genius.” Banderas has portrayed real-life figures before, from Pancho Villa in “And Starring Pancho Villa as Himself” to Che Guevara in “Evita.” He has a closer relationship with Picasso, however, because they both come from the same place. “The life story of Pablo Picasso has long since fascinated me and I have so much respect for this man, who also comes from my birthplace Málaga,” Banderas said in a statement.

Bruce Beresford When I was going to do Driving Miss Daisy, I offered it to Don McAlpine, but he turned it down. And then I offered it to Russell Boyd but he was doing something else. And then I remembered Peter and I thought .Hang on, I like that bloke Peter James. and said .Do you want to come over here and shoot this low-budget film?. And he did. That was the first.
I did enjoy working with him but we never thought it was anything special. In fact, when we finished the film they were planning not to release it.
We had very similar ideas on lighting and he had tremendously good taste . his lighting was always exqusite. Also, the thing I liked about him (and for that matter Don McAlpine) was that he would vary his style to suit the subject matter,...

"Mexican character actor Pedro Armendáriz Jr died Monday at the age of 71," reports the AP. "President Felipe Calderon's office issued a statement lamenting Armendáriz's death, calling him 'a great actor who reflected well on Mexico at home and abroad.'… He acted in more than 100 films, including the Mexican hit The Crime of Father Amaro."
Both Armendáriz Jr and his father, Pedro Armendáriz, a star during Mexican cinema's "golden age," portrayed Pancho Villa — the father in several films and Armendáriz Jr in Luis Puenzo's Old Gringo (1989). From the Wikipedia entry: "Interestingly, Pedro Armendáriz Jr also portrayed Pancho Villa's enemy Luis Terrazas in the film And Starring Pancho Villa as Himself opposite Antonio Banderas." The entry notes that both father and son also appeared in James Bond movies: "The elder Armendáriz appeared in From Russia with Love in 1963, while Pedro Jr. appeared in 1989's Licence to Kill."

Serbian director Emir Kusturica is ready to make a movie about Mexican revolutionary Pancho Villa. He's given it a ridiculously long title -- Seven Friends of Pancho Villa and the Woman with Six Fingers (dear God, I hope they change that) -- and he's out on the town, looking for talent. Luckily, he appears to have found some major talent in the likes of Johnny Depp and Salma Hayek. According to Variety, Depp is in "advanced negotiations" to star as Pancho Villa. He would join a legion of actors who have played the iconic revolutionary (who oddly, does not have his own t-shirt like Ché). The list includes Yul Brenner (Villa Rides, 1968) and Antonio Banderas (And Starring Pancho Villa as Himself, 2003). What's more interesting is that the Spanish-language biopic is to be shot partly in Mexico, where Villa -- an early 20th-century bandit who became a guerilla fighter and a hero to the poor -- is an...

Mark Gordon (HBO's And Starring Pancho Villa as Himself) and Celia Costas (HBO's Angels in America) will executive produce, with Chrisann Verges producing. Round up the usual suspects . it's this year's Emmys. Few surprises if any were in store for yesterday's announcements, which were dominated by heavy HBO favorites Angels in America and The Sopranos. The highly acclaimed miniseries grabbed a field-best 21 nominations, including nods for all its principal cast members, while the mob drama did what it does best and dominated all TV series with 20 nominations, including perennial mentions for leads James Gandolfini and Edie Falco. A number of ending series . Frasier, Friends and Sex and the City . also made a strong showing, taking home mainly nominations for acting (only Sex made the Comedy Series cut), and favorites like Curb Your Enthusiasm, Everybody Loves Raymond, 24 (still awake?), Will & Grace, and The West Wing took home multiple nominations as well. What was missing from the major categories were new series and actors, though a couple did manage to sneak in. Fox's Arrested Development was a surprise (though deserving) nominee for Best Comedy Series, while both Deadwood and Joan of Arcadia made small splashes in the Drama categories, the latter getting a Drama Series nomination. In the TV movie categories, HBO once again ruled with both And Starring Pancho Villa As Himself and Something the Lord Made, each winning nine nominations. Meanwhile, prepare for one long wait: this year's awards, hosted by Garry Shandling, will be handed out on September 19th at the Shrine Auditorium. See you in two months! --Prepared by IMDb staff

LONDON -- The top brass from HBO Films and HBO Video turned out Tuesday in London to spark a campaign to establish HBO's video label for the company's ancillary output in the United Kingdom. The charm offensive, led by HBO Films president Colin Callender and HBO Video president Henry McGee, saw the company map out plans for its fledgling British video label. HBO Video intends to release output from the U.S. stable of television movies straight to DVD, even before they are sold to U.K. broadcasters. Titles to go through the video label directly include Hysterical Blindness, Live From Baghdad, And Starring Pancho Villa as Himself and Normal, from HBO Films.

It's as if Warner Bros. Pictures were shining a Bat Signal over Burbank, summoning potential Caped Crusaders. Warners and helmer Christopher Nolan are zeroing in on an actor to star in the title role of the studio's next Batman installment, which is scheduled to start shooting in February. Sources said that during the next three days, several young actors are expected to test for the role. The list of potential crime fighters includes Jake Gyllenhaal, Christian Bale, Joshua Jackson (Dawson's Creek), Cillian Murphy (28 Days Later), Henry Cavill (I Capture the Castle) and Eion Bailey, who stars in the upcoming HBO feature And Starring Pancho Villa as Himself. Meanwhile, sources say Hugh Dancy, currently shooting the Walt Disney Co.'s King Arthur, may test if his schedule permits and he is able to shave the beard his Arthur character, Galahad, is sporting.
Newcomer Alexa Davalos has joined the cast of Universal Pictures' Chronicles of Riddick for writer-director David Twohy, Radar Pictures and One Race Prods. Production begins June 9 in Vancouver, with Vin Diesel, Judi Dench, Colm Feore, Thandie Newton and Karl Urban also starring. Riddick follows the adventures of intergalactic prisoner Riddick, a character introduced in the 2000 film Pitch Black. The second installment finds Riddick, now a hunted man, in the middle of two opposing forces in a major crusade. Davalos will play Kyra, a grown-up version of a character that appeared in Black who initially was thought to be a boy but turned out to be a girl. Nick Chinlund also has been added to the cast, playing a character named Toombs. Scott Kroopf, Tom Engelman and Diesel are producing the project. Ted Field, George Zakk and Peter McGregor Scott are executive producing. Universal president of production Scott Stuber, senior vp Donna Langley and director of development Jeffrey Kirschenbaum are overseeing. Davalos, repped by ICM and the Firm, next stars in HBO's And Starring Pancho Villa as Himself opposite Antonio Banderas for director Bruce Beresford.

Hollywood star Antonio Banderas is under fire from the Mexican public for his portrayal of Mexican revolutionary Pancho Villa in a new film. Audiences are not taking kindly to the idea of the stout, pistol-packing hero of the 1910-1917 revolution being played by a Spaniard for an American audience - two nationalities Villa loathed. Banderas filmed the HBO movie And Starring Pancho Villa As Himself at a time when Hollywood's treatment of history is becoming a sensitive point for Mexicans. Actress Salma Hayek recently starred as Mexican artist Frida Kahlo in a Hollywood movie filmed entirely in Mexican-accented English. Adolfo Lopez Villarreal - who founded the Francisco Villa Popular Front in Mexico City in 1988 - is one who's unhappy about the HBO film. He says, "They should have given the role to a Mexican. I like Banderas, but he's a Spaniard. I think there are Mexican actors who could do the role well." Student activist America Del Valle adds, "It's very Hollywood, to use big- name actors who have never participated in real-life political movements to depict revolutionaries. I'm sure they'll do Che (Guevara) next. It's playing marketing with the truth. I just hope they'll respect the historical reality, and not paint him all black or all white."...
