The content of this page was created directly by users and has not been screened or verified by IMDb staff.
Since the beliefs that parents want to instill in their children can vary greatly, we ask that instead of adding your personal opinions about what is right or wrong in a film, that you instead use this feature to help parents make informed viewing decisions by describing the facts of relevant scenes in the title for each one of the different categories: Sex and Nudity, Violence and Gore, Profanity, Alcohol/Drugs/Smoking, and Frightening/Intense Scenes.

Sex & Nudity

A several brief scenes with topless bartenders. (one scene is the R-Rated cut)

A woman removes her dress and stands naked before a man (No nudity is shown) who caresses her.

some mild sexual references to hookers/prostitution

(**note-- this is all in the UNRATED cut, several of the scenes/dialouge are cut out in the R-Rated one**)

Violence & Gore

a major theme of the movie is that Frank Castle, a newly retired FBI Agent, goes on vacation with his family. During his vacation, his whole family is slaughtered (ON SCREEN) by Howard Saint the father of a boy who was killed in an FBI Sting, and his army. Now, Frank, fueled by hate and anger, goes to Florida and begins to slaghter everyone and anyone that Saint throws at him, from his own cronies to professional hitmen.

In the UNCUT version, there is a side-plot that involves his best friend Jimmy Weeks, giving up Frank Castle to Saint because he owes Saint a ton of money. There is a confrontation between Castle and Weeks where Castle forces Weeks to commit suicide (offscreen, but still bloody) **This part isnt in the R-Rated version**

Parents should know this movie (even the R-Rated cut) is filled with violence/killing blood and gore galore. Both Frank Castle (although the "good guy") and Howard Saint are absolutely crazed individuals bent on attempting to kill one another by any means necesscary. Frank Castle uses anything as a weapon including pans of boiling water and a paper-cutter (both result in graphic deaths) as means to murder hitmen that Saint throws at him.

Parents should also know that the killing of Castles family is ALL ON-SCREEN in the "extended cut" and MOSTLY ONSCREEN in the R-Rated Cut, and includes the killing (and corpse) of a 7 year old boy, which will upset alot of viewers.

Profanity

fairly moderate in The R-Rated version

VERY heavy in the "EXTENDED CUT"

several scenes take place at a nightclub so there are several scenes with characters smoking and drinking.

Both Saint and Castle are alcoholics and are seen drinking several times in the movie (whether alone or with friends/family)

some references to Mickey (an employee of Saint) selling pot.

the aforementioned scene of Castles family getting gunned down by Saints gang

Castle throws a pan of boiling water on a man, and it graphically burns his face off

there is a scene where Joan is threatened by her ex-boyfriend (Castle comes and saves her)
