Dumbledore : SPOILER: Today we acknowledge a really terrible loss. Cedric Diggory was, as you all know, exceptionally hard working, infinitely fair-minded, and most importantly, a fierce, fierce friend. Therefore, I feel you have the right to know exactly how he died. You see, Cedric Diggory was murdered, by Lord Voldemort. The Ministry of Magic does not wish me to tell you this. But not to do so I feel would be an insult to his memory. Now the pain we all feel at this dreadful loss reminds me, and, reminds us, that though we may come from different countries and speak in different tongues, our hearts beat as one. In light of the recent events, the bonds of friendship made this year will be more important than ever. Remember that, and Cedric Diggory will not have died in vain. You remember that, and we'll celebrate a boy who was kind, and honest, and brave, and true. Right to the very end.

Dumbledore : Hogwarts, let's entertain our friends in the best way we can, all stand!
[the entire student body stands up as one]
Dumbledore : Maestro, if you will!
[Professor Flitwick and Dumbledore both begin conducting the students as they sing the school song]
Hogwarts student body : 'Hogwarts, Hogwarts, Hoggy warty Hogwarts, teach us something please. Whether we be old and bald or young with scabby knees. Our heads could do with filling with some interesting stuff, for now they're bare and full or air, dead flies and bits of fluff!'
[as they are singing, the Durmstrang and Beauxbatons students merely stare, as if they can't believe what they are seeing/hearing]

Cornelius Fudge : [SPOILER] For God's sake Dumbledore, what's happened?
Harry : [crying over Cedric's body] He's back! He's back! Voldemort's back! Cedric, he asked me to bring his body back. I couldn't leave him... not there!
Dumbledore : It's all right, Harry... it's all right. He's home, you both are.
Cornelius Fudge : [Rushing over to Professors Snape and McGonagall] Keep everybody in their seats, a boy has just been killed! The body must be moved, Dumbledore, there are too many people!
Amos Diggory : [Pushing his way frantically through the crowd] Let me through. LET ME THROUGH! Let me through, THAT'S MY SON! That's my boy!
[He pushes Harry's hands away and leans over Cedric's body, sobbing hysterically]
Amos Diggory : IT'S MY BOY!

Dumbledore : Send a message to Azkaban. I think they'll find they're missing a prisoner.
Barty Crouch Junior : [gloating] I'll be welcomed back like a hero!
Dumbledore : Perhaps. Personally, I've never had much time for heroes.

Minerva McGonagall : This can't go on, Albus. First the Dark Mark, now this?
Albus Dumbledore : What do you suggest, Minerva?
Minerva McGonagall : [scoffs] Put an *end* to it! Don't let Potter compete!
Albus Dumbledore : You heard Barty. The rules are clear.
Minerva McGonagall : Well, the devil with Barty and his rules! And since when did you accommodate the Ministry?
Severus Snape : Headmaster, I too find it difficult to believe this mere coincidence. However, if we are to truly discover the meaning of these events, perhaps we should, for the time being, let them unfold.
Minerva McGonagall : What? Do nothing? Offer him up as *bait*? Potter is a *boy*, not a piece of meat!
Albus Dumbledore : I agree. With Severus.
[McGonagall looks downcast]
Albus Dumbledore : Alastor, keep an eye on Harry, will you?
Alastor "Mad Eye" Moody : I can do that.
Albus Dumbledore : Don't let him know, though. He must be anxious enough as it is...
[brings his wand to his temple and pulls out a glowing white thread of memory]
Albus Dumbledore : ... knowing what lies ahead. Then again, we all are.
[drops the memory in a bowl of water; sees the parchment with Harry's name on it]

Harry : In the graveyard, my wand and Voldemort's sort of... connected.
Dumbledore : Priori Incantatem.

Albus Dumbledore : [furiously grabs Harry and pins him to the wall] Harry, did you put your name in the Goblet of Fire?
Harry Potter : No, sir!
Albus Dumbledore : [shakes Harry] Did you ask one of the older students to do it for you?
Harry Potter : No, sir!
Albus Dumbledore : [points frantically at Harry] You're absolutely sure?
Harry Potter : Yes! Yes, sir!

Dumbledore : Do you know who I am? Do you?
Professor Moody : Albus Dumbledore.
Dumbledore : Are you Alastor Moody?
Professor Moody : ...no.

Dumbledore : [to Harry] I never liked these curtains. I set them on fire in my fourth year. Accidentally, of course.

Dumbledore : Your attention please. I'd like to say a few words. Eternal glory! That's what awaits the student who wins The Triwizard Tournament. But to this that student must survive three tasks. Three EXTREMELY DANGEROUS tasks.

Dumbledore : Well now that we're all settled in and sorted, I'd like to make an announcement. This castle will not only be your home this year but home to some very special guests as well. You see, Hogwarts has been chosen to host a legendary event: The Triwizard Tournament. The Tournament brings together three schools for a series of magical contests. From each school a single student is selected to compete. Now let me be clear. If chosen, you stand alone. And trust me when I say, these contest are not for the faint-hearted. But more of that later.

Dumbledore : People change in the maze. Oh, find the cup if you can. But be very wary; you could just lose yourselves along the way.

Dumbledore : The Goblet of Fire! Anyone wishing to submit themselves to the tournament need only write their name upon a piece of parchment and throw it in the flame before this hour on Thursday night. Do not do so lightly! If chosen, there's no turning back. As from this moment, The Triwizard Tournament has begun!

Dumbledore : Harry, feel free to treat yourself to a licorice snap. But be careful, they're a wee bit sharp.

Dumbledore : Curiosity is not a sin, Harry. However, from time to time, you should exercise caution.

[Harry, Dumbledore, McGonagall and Snape see Moody at the bottom of a deep, dark trunk]
Albus Dumbledore : Are you all right, Alastor?
Alastor "Mad Eye" Moody : I'm sorry, Albus.
Harry Potter : That's Moody, but then, who's--?
Severus Snape : [sniffs Moody's flask; to Dumbledore] Polyjuice Potion.
Albus Dumbledore : Now we know who's been stealing from your stores, Severus.
[to Moody]
Albus Dumbledore : We'll get you up in a minute!
[Moody groans]
