Of all the roles Charlize Theron has donned to date, perhaps none comes as close to playing Furiosa in the Mad Max saga. That being said, fans also awaited for her to reprise her iconic role and return to the screens in character for the upcoming prequel and spin-off based on her character’s name. However, things went a bit downhill for her for Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga.

While there was a chance for her to star as the noted character in this prequel to Mad Max: Fury Road as well, she instead had to give her up to Hollywood’s currently raging heartthrob Anya Taylor-Joy. And while the younger actress says Theron holds no hard feelings toward her because of the same, the one to blame for this decision is none other than the helmer of the saga, George Miller.

It surprised a lot of people when Bubbles, the dippy personal assistant from Absolutely Fabulous, turned out to have a belter of a singing voice. Jane Horrocks showed off her chops in the 1998 film Little Voice having already conquered the stage with the lead role in The Rise and Fall of Little Voice.
Since then, Horrocks has become part of the fabric of the nation. On the big screen, she’s voiced a knitting-loving chicken in 2000’s Chicken Run and a duck opposite Bill Murray’s Garfield. In the flesh, she appeared in Dexter Fletcher’s Proclaimers jukebox musical Sunshine on Leith, and opposite Rob Brydon in 2018 sports comedy Swimming With Men. In the mid-’70s, Kansas rose to fame with the hit “Carry On Wayward Son,” featured on the classic rock band’s fourth studio album, Leftoverture. The group followed that with two big songs off its fifth album, Point of Know Return, making Kansas a household name. However, drummer Phil Ehart says releasing three back-to-back hits was unintentional.
‘Point of Know Return’ featured 2 hit songs
Kansas released Point of Know Return in 1977. The studio album featured the band’s biggest hit, “Dust in the Wind,” and other fan favorites, including “Sparks of the Tempest” and “Closet Chronicles.” In a January 2023 conversation with Ultimate Classic Rock, Ehart explained how the title track became an unexpected hit.
“[Point of Know Return] was a title I came up with. I had no idea that Steve [Walsh] was going to base the song around the title. He said, ‘You mind if I use that title?’ I said, ‘We’re...

The Beatles idolized Elvis Presley in many ways. From his iconic music to his eccentric performing style, The Beatles knew Elvis was the king and could only dream of reaching the global fame he achieved. The band did reach that same level of success, and arguably surpassed it. However, at the peak of their fame, the fab four decided to stop touring and the king himself influenced this decision.

If you're a fan of "Community," you might often find yourself disheartened by how there are only 110 episodes of the show. That might sound like a lot, but 13 of those episodes were part of the Gas Leak Season (otherwise known as season 4), and the final 20 episodes or so don't include Troy. On the same note, the final 13 episodes don't include Shirley, and Pierce is gone for most of the final 30. Add on the fact that the show didn't truly find its footing until about 10 episodes in, and the number of golden era "Community" episodes is depressingly slim.
Luckily, there are some bonus episodes you might not have known about it. They're not as long as a typical 22-minute sitcom episode, but they're still fun little additions to the show that you'd never get to see if you only binged "Community" on Netflix. They vary a ton in terms of tone,...

The fourth installment in the hugely successful Lionsgate franchise is tracking to open to a franchise-best $65 million to $70 million in its domestic box office opening, more than enough to kill off the competition, including holdover Shazam! Fury of the Gods.

To date, 2019’s John Wick: Chapter 3 — Parabellum boasts the biggest domestic opening of the series at $56.8 million after earning $5.9 million in Thursday previews, not adjusted for inflation.
John Wick 4 has plenty going in its favor: Reeves is as popular as ever, while critics adore the pic. While classic artists like The Rolling Stones had busy schedules of writing, recording, and touring, many made time to cover Irish music. In honor of St. Patrick’s Day, here are four classic artists who have covered Irish songs.
Mick Jagger | Evening Standard/Getty Images The Rolling Stones
In 1995, The Rolling Stones teamed up with The Chieftains, a traditional Irish folk band from Dublin, to cover “Rocky Road to Dublin” on the album Long Black Veil. The song, which is originally from the 19th century, is about the adventures and challenges a man faces while on the road.
The Rolling Stones | Scott Gries/Getty Images
Paddy Moloney of The Chieftains sings the song, but the Stones back him. The cover features traditional Irish instruments, but The Rolling Stones’ influence is evident, particularly toward the end of the song. Mick Jagger also appears on the album and sings the titular song.

The Beatles‘ Abbey Road is one of the band’s most acclaimed offerings. The album gave us massive hits in addition to sadly overlooked songs. Notably, John Lennon wished he had performed the vocals on one of the greatest tracks from The Beatles’ Abbey Road.
An image of the cover of The Beatles’ ‘Abbey Road’ | Krafft Angerer / Stringer 5. ‘Because’
In 1968, Wendy Carlos released the album Switched-On Bach, which featured selections of classical music played on a synthesizer. The Beatles accomplished something very similar in 1969 with “Because.” According to a 1980 interview from the book All We Are Saying: The Last Major Interview with John Lennon and Yoko Ono, John said the synthesizer-laden tune was inspired by Ludwig van Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata.
Both Moonlight Sonata and “Because” have similarly haunting atmospheres. While listeners can project anything onto Beethoven’s instrumental, “Because” is a hippie meditation on the beauty of the universe.

Toward the end of The Beatles, their songs were more individualized. Instead of creating a song together, John Lennon, Paul McCartney, and George Harrison wanted to express their own artistic vision on different tracks. John Lennon’s Beatles songs were more introspective but less veiled, leading to a reviewer calling his lyrics “simple and boring.” Lennon did agree with this critique but didn’t consider it a problem.
‘The White Album’ featured less of The Beatles working as a group John Lennon | Gab Archive/Redferns
The White Album (1968) is a double album comprising 30 songs. The group wrote many of its songs during their trip to India, where they embarked on a meditation course. The album drastically differed from their previous album, 1967’s Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. Sgt. Pepper’s was a concert album where the band worked together to create a body of work that told a story.

If The Beatles dominated the 1960s, then Led Zeppelin ruled the 1970s. England’s musical tastes started changing in late 1969. That’s when Zep knocked The Beatles out of the No. 1 spot on the charts with their second album. The Fab Four’s breakup cleared the way for other bands to grab the spotlight. Led Zeppelin copied a page from The Beatles’ playbook to do just that.

Paul McCartney believed in The Beatles surviving a rough 1969, but things obviously didn’t work out. The band broke up in 1970. He eventually felt optimistic following The Beatles’ split, but one of his Abbey Road songs seems to be miles away from that. He once said he didn’t write “You Never Give Me Your Money” about his Beatles bandmates, but it’s almost impossible to believe Paul was telling the truth.

The Beatles fought about money as much as they argued about artistic differences toward the end of their run. The turmoil of the late 1960s and 1970 was the culmination of years of stress. John Lennon saw The Beatles’ end coming when manager Brian Epstein died in 1967.

We've come to the end of the road. Though filled with characters that have always lived their lives a quarter mile at a time, even a franchise featuring never-ending runways and absurdly lengthy ziplines had to run out of pavement eventually. "Fast X" seems well aware of that fact that all good things must come to an end, as the marketing has billed this latest installment in the greatest saga of our times as, I kid you not, "The end of the road begins."

Pedro Pascal hosted Saturday Night Live over the weekend, and one of his sketches took the form of a trailer where The Last of Us actor transformed yet another well-known video game into a dystopian HBO drama.
Pascal plays Mario, a now brooding figure after Bowser (Kenan Thompson) took over the Mushroom Kingdom, who attempts to transport Princess Peach (Chloe Fineman) to Rainbow Road in a Mario Kart-style go-kart with the help of his twin brother Luigi (Mikey Day).
To survive the journey, the brothers both possess shotguns loaded with red shells, items from the racing video game that home in on and strike down opponents.
The group also encounters characters like Yoshi (Bowen Yang) who proclaims, “I’m bisexual,” and a Goomba is cast as a Clicker, an infected being and enemy character from The Last of Us.
In a full-blown dramatic moment, Mario eats a power-up Mushroom despite it being “poisonous.

The Oscar winning superstar Sir Thomas Sean Connery has died two months after his 90th birthday. Connery's acting career began in 1953 as part of the chorus of a production of the stage musical South Pacific. Four years later his movie career began in earnest with several small roles the debut being a crime drama No Road Back. Global fame would take another five years to arrive. It happened as the original 007 in Dr. No (1962), making Connery the figurehead of an colossally successful movie franchise. It's still running to this day 37 years after Connery let his license-to-kill expire.
He's the only James Bond to win an Oscar via 1987's mobsters vs cops drama The Untouchables. He retired from the screen after 2003's would-be franchise launch League of Extraordinarily Gentlemen but he remains beloved to multiple generations. Despite the loss of more than 500 Regal Theaters, total grosses went up this weekend. Led by newcomer “The War with Grandpa,” the top 10 grossed about $9.7 million. That’s up from $8.5 million last weekend. With so many library titles adding to the pot, the full take might reach $13 million. By comparison. 2019 saw $141 million on Columbus Day weekend.
To be fair, with most of Regal gone and with New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Seattle still closed, that might have reduced the potential gross by as much as half. Had Regal been open, the total would have been over $15 million. If all markets and theaters were open, the total might have been $26 million. The lack of product is a major factor, but this depressed level of business continues suggest that audiences have not restored their appetites for theaters.
After “Tenet” spent five weeks in the top spot, “The War with Grandpa” took no.

When we first published the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time in December 2003, Amy Winehouse was still three years from releasing Back to Black, and Kendrick Lamar’s good kid, m.A.A.d city, was almost a decade away; many of today’s top musicians (and fans) weren’t in middle school yet. Canada and the U.S. are in different worlds when it comes to Covid-19. The northern neighbor is good to go for most theaters (with safety measures in play). And with that, the country went its own way this weekend with two wide releases.
“The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run” took top spot for all theaters in both countries, grossing around $910,000 in 300 theaters. The Russell Crowe-starring thriller “Unhinged” was #2 with about $580,000 on 284 screens. “Peninsula,” the Korean “Train to Busan” sequel, made $119,000 in 45 theaters. This opens in 115 U.S. theaters this Friday.
In 2015, “The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out Of Water” opened to $55 million ion North America, and Canada generally earns about 10 percent of the two-country total. If the new SpongeBob” opened in North America in a world without Covid, we might factor in a falloff of interest in the franchise over five years; a reasonable guess might be a...

Self-described “old homeboy” Bruce Springsteen was on hand Monday night (June 18) to usher in a new era at the grand reopening of Asbury Lanes, the combination bowling alley, bar and live music venue, in Asbury Park, New Jersey.
“We didn’t know if we would ever see Asbury come back or not, in our lifetime, so it’s been a joy watching what’s been happening in town over the past 10, 15 or 20 years,” he told a crowd of less than 800 people. “I walk down the boardwalk now, I feel like the Ghost of Christmas Past,” he said, praising the art and Lgbtq communities for the rebirth of the seaside community that nurtured his own artistic growth. “But that’s okay. It’s fun to watch Asbury’s future unfold in front of me.”

Manoj Bajpayee: My character in ‘Love Sonia’ is one of the deadliest characters I have played so far
The fine actor Manoj Bajpayee is one of the most talented actors in Bollywood who can rightly be called ‘the master of impeccable performances’. In his phenomenal cinematic journey, the actor has always taken up challenging roles and delivered with great ease. We have always seen him portraying many negative roles be it gangster in ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’ series, a psycho in ‘Road’ a dangerous faction leader in ‘Tevar’, the actor has always made character’s alive with his performance. But the two time national award winner is all set to be seen one of his deadliest avatar in his upcoming film ‘Love Sonia’, thereby raising his own bar.
Love Sonia is an Indo-American film, which is directed by Tabrez Noorani and produced by David Womark who had produced the magnificent film ‘Life of Pi’. According to an insider, the makers have shot the film in many locations like Rajasthan,...

A week after The Weinstein Company went after Open Road and the producers of the upcoming Playmobil movie over who actually has the right to distribute the animated pic, the other side hit back – and they’re not playing around.
“There was never any contract with TWC,” says a cross-complaint (read it here) filed today by producers Moritz Borman and Dimitri Rassam and their respective companies in Los Angeles Superior Court. “TWC launched this controversy, masking its current financial instability by filing a strike suit with no written license attached,” the eight-page filing claims, also calling the whole matter a case “about a failed movie license negotiation which cratered.”
It goes on to claim that “the producers learned the production lending bank for the Project would neither trust nor accept as collateral a promise from TWC to pay a minimum guarantee, due to the bank’s negative perception about TWC’s disintegrating liquidity.

The 22nd annual SAG Awards nominations were announced this morning and it's full of surprises! Sylvester Stallone, loved by critics and the National Board of Review for his performance in "Creed," was ignored. So was Kristen Stewart's supporting performance in "Clouds of Sils Maria." Matt Damon, who was so good and carried "The Martian" from start to finish, was also missing from the list.
But here's what I love about the SAG noms. First, Sarah Silverman's first dramatic performance in "I Smile Back" was embraced. And I'm also happy with the inclusion of "Room's" Brie Larson and the fantastic child actor, Jacob Tremblay. The endearing "Carol" also received noms for both Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara, and Saoirse Ronan's performance in the beautiful "Brooklyn" also received a nomination.

Ganesh Chaturthi in Bollywood is big. Like every year this year too the event was most prominently celebrated in the homes of the Nightingale Lata Mangeshkar and Salman Khan's place. Interestingly the two super-celebrities share one thing in common. A small cozy home from which they have refused to move out over the years in spite of their growing families and enhanced affluence. Lataji's 3-bedroom home in a high-rise building on Peddar Road becomes uncontrollably crowded during Ganesh Chaturvedi. "Every year it's an open house at Lata Didi's place in Prabhu Kunj. National Award Winning director of Jolly Llb, Subhash Kapoor's upcoming film Guddu Rangeela is comedy with a message. The director had a secret under wraps for long that a plot in the film is inspired by the famous Manoj-Babli honour killing case of Haryana. Subhash Kapoor was a political journalist before he became a filmmaker, and he had closely followed the case and got affected by the outcome. Commenting on the story, Subhash Kapoor said, "The honour killing case was about a girl called Babli and a boy called Manoj, who got married in 2007 and were killed in 2009.
