Amusing but silly...
Mbarnum16 November 2003
If you can overlook the plot holes you will really enjoy this feature; just look at it as good, campy fun. The music numbers are a delight and they really save the film, but the ending is so ridiculous that it might make you wonder if a 5 year old wrote the script!

Dharmendra is excellent(and so very handsome) as the womanizing navy man who falls in love with lovely Hema Malini. Helen, as usual, has a great song and dance number and as always, she never disappoint! And lets not forget Rajendranath, who is in top form as the comedic sidekick.

Plenty of big hair and colorful costumes add to the charm and if you happen to come across it on DVD it is certainly worth picking up.

Wholesome Entertainment - 70s style
vivekmenon8931 May 2010
My Father never stops talking about this movie. He was a big Dharmendra fan & had met him during the filming of "Tum Haseen Main Jawan"(THMJ)in Cochin. Anyone who's heard of Bhappi Sonnie will know what to expect - melodrama, comedy, fights & good music, all in equal measure. Special mention must be made about the music by Shankar-Jaikishan, which is nothing short of exceptional. The hero Dharam & comedian Rajindernath as his side kick handle their roles with ease. THMJ,in fact, was the beginning of Dharmendra's tryst with comedy which was later extended to Chupke Chupke, Sholay etc. Among the supporting actors, Pran & Anwar Husain are quite decent in their parts. Surprisingly, the weak link in the movie is Hema Malini though she does compensate with her stunning looks! THMJ is a typical 70s style 'feel good' movie which can be watched many times over.

Garam Dharam and Dream girl paired together for the first
coltras3520 November 2021
Dharmendra and dream girl Hema Malini are paired together for the first time in this romantic comedy where Garam Dharam plays a casonova navy man who is dumped with a baby and ends up romancing Hema to boot. As you can tell it's a light frothy comedy full of colour and zing - it's a feel good type of film, however as this is a Bollywood film, expect the usual amount of drama, misunderstandings and villainy - well, with Pran in it that's expected.
