Teresa Giudice called Sofia Vergara a “bitch” in a rant Tuesday about her experience meeting the Modern Family star – and said that Vergara should be nicer because she’s an immigrant.
The Real Housewives of New Jersey star was appearing at a “Housewives Reality Check” event alongside her Rhonj castmates Siggy Flicker, Dolores Catania and Danielle Staub in Mohegan Sun, Connecticut, when she popped off on the Hollywood star — whom Giudice named as her “worst celebrity encounter.”
“I can’t stand her, sorry,” Giudice said, in video captured by fans and published by TMZ. “I hate to say that, because I’m Italian,...

Crime novel The Blank Wall by Elisabeth Sanxay Holding. While her husband is away during World War II, housewife Lucia Holley – the sort of “Everywoman” who looks great in a two-piece bathing suit – does whatever it takes to protect the feeling of “normality” in her bourgeois, suburban household. The Blank Wall is a classic depiction of an attempted cover-up being much more serious than the actual crime. Sound bites: Remembering the classic crime novel 'The Blank Wall' and its two movie adaptations – 'The Reckless Moment' & 'The Deep End' Crime novel writer Elisabeth Sanxay Holding (1889–1955) is not a name familiar to many, and yet Raymond Chandler described her as “the top suspense writer of them all. She doesn't pour it on and make you feel irritated. Her characters are wonderful; and she has a sort of inner calm which I find very attractive.” Holding has been identified as “The Godmother of Noir” and, more...

Spoiler-free Review: ‘Mr. Robot’ Season 2 Stays True to Its Weird Self
Last year, the debut season of “Mr. Robot” dominated the television conversation, but serialized television is still a “what have you done for me lately?” enterprise, and a great beginning only leads to heightened expectations for season two. The two-hour premiere does a brisk job of re-setting the pieces on the board and introducing new ones. Eliot, still missing three days of memory during which the Five/Nine hack shook the world’s financial stability, has gone home to live with his mother; he stays away from all computers and lives a strictly regimented life that is designed to keep Mr. Robot from causing any more trouble. Darlene is running fsociety actions, although she despairs that they’re only making things worse. Angela is ensconced in her new Evil Corp PR job, although it seems to be killing her soul.

While there are a number of excellent television episodes that aired during the first half of the year, not all of them made our list, due to a number of reasons, chief among them the simple fact that there are too many episodes potentially worthy of inclusion for the entire panel to watch them all. Here are our individual picks, to complement our list of the Best Episodes of 2015 (so far):

Shoojit Sircar’s family comedy drama ‘Piku’ was released to packed theatres and the film was an instant hit with the audience. While fans of the film definitely loved the father-daughter relationship and the Irrfan-Deepika love story, the quirky drama also managed to convey some invaluable messages. Here are the few lessons to take back from the characters of Piku, Rana and Bhashkor Banerjee:
1. Gender Equality
Indian culture has always given more importance to the male child. In many parts of India it isstill believed that the son of the family is the one to take care of their parents. Piku teaches us otherwise. Coming froman avant-gardeBengali family, Piku is the perfect daughter who makes sure every whim and fancy of her father is fulfilled.
2. Family Values
The character of Piku is definitely up-to-date with the current generation, yet she finds herself unknowingly holding on to her traditions and roots.

'About a Boy,' with Hugh Grant and Baby 'About a Boy' movie review: Some men should remain islands On the surface, Chris and Paul Weitz's 2002 movie About a Boy has a profound, affecting premise. No man is an island entire of itself; every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main; if a clod be washed away by the sea, Europe is the less, as well as if a promontory were, as well as any manner of thy friends or of thine own were; any man's death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind. And therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee. With the above statement, seventeenth-century English poet John Donne reached beyond the apparent isolation of each individual by affirming the invisible oneness that encompasses all of humankind – and, why not, all living creatures.

HBO six-part documentary series The Jinx: The Life and Deaths of Robert Durst is an investigation into a scion of one of Manhattan’s wealthiest real-estate fortunes who may or may not have gotten away with at least two different, elaborate, sensationalistic murders. The Jinx is "Serial" in 3-D, but Robert Durst is the anti–Adnan Syed: Durst walks — more than once. Filmmaker Andrew Jarecki examines evidence going back to the 1980s to look at how, why, and whether this defendant is either guilty and very fortunate or innocent and, as per the series’ tagline, merely “The Unluckiest Man in the World.”The penultimate episode, “Family Values,” begins with an assembled litany of shocked reactions in New York to Durst’s acquittal in Texas, as detailed in episode four. Luis Buñuel movies on TCM tonight (photo: Catherine Deneuve in 'Belle de Jour') The city of Paris and iconoclastic writer-director Luis Buñuel are Turner Classic Movies' themes today and later this evening. TCM's focus on Luis Buñuel is particularly welcome, as he remains one of the most daring and most challenging filmmakers since the invention of film. Luis Buñuel is so remarkable, in fact, that you won't find any Hollywood hipster paying homage to him in his/her movies. Nor will you hear his name mentioned at the Academy Awards – no matter the Academy in question. And rest assured that most film critics working today have never even heard of him, let alone seen any of his movies. So, nowadays Luis Buñuel is un-hip, un-cool, and unfashionable. He's also unquestionably brilliant. These days everyone is worried about freedom of expression. The clash of civilizations. The West vs. The Other.

In the footage, McAllister, 40, pulls Melissa Anne HIxon Peacock in for a kiss as they’re about to leave the offices. Peacock, who is also married, served as his district scheduler, reported the Oachita Citizen.
“There’s no doubt I’ve fallen short and I’m asking for forgiveness from God, my wife, my kids, my staff, and my constituents who elected me to serve,” McAllister said in a statement. “Trust is something I know has to be earned whether you’re a husband, a father, or a congressman. I promise to do everything I can to earn back the trust of everyone I’ve disappointed. From day one, I’ve always tried to be an honest man. I ran for Congress to make...

Will their mothers’ meddling come between Will and Sonny? No, but I just really wanted to use “Groomzillas!”
Will and Sonny wake up the morning after the bachelor party, hungover from the night’s wacky festivities. Will is still wearing the cop hat, which they chuckle over, and they giggle even more when they realize that Sonny is … handcuffed to the headboard! But their giggles soon turn to gulps when they realize they can’t find the key.
Over in Town Square, Adrienne and Sami are meeting to discuss the last minute details of the wedding. Adrienne gets misty and says “This will be the most beautiful ceremony ever! … even if my sweet Sonny deserves better than a colossal f*ck up like Will.” Sami is wondering which of the dresses she picked out will draw the most attention to her, without seeming to draw attention to her. It would...

It seems like Hollywood churns out more and more sequels every year. Some of them, like Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues, are pretty great. Most are pointless retreads of the original, like Grown Ups 2 or The Hangover Part II. We remain cautiously optimistic about Dumb and Dumber To, though sequels that come out decades after the original are rarely great.

The Screen Actors Guild Awards is the one awards show where fellow actors get to decide the best performances. It may sound intimidating, but a SAG card can be earned through smaller roles on TV, film or radio. This means the evening's biggest stars, the SAG nominees, earned access to the guild through some surprising parts. Justin Bieber ‘Believe’ bombs at North American box office After opening with a dismal $1.25 million at 1,037 North American locations on Christmas Day, the Jon M. Chu-directed Justin Bieber documentary Believe grossed an estimated $2.014 million at no. 14 on the domestic box office chart this weekend, December 27-29, 2013, according to studio estimates found at Box Office Mojo. Believe‘s per-theater average was $1,942, while its five-day cume is an equally paltry $4.27 million. (Photo: Justin Bieber in Believe.) Distributed by Open Road Films, which reportedly spent a modest $5 million promoting the equally modestly budgeted documentary — cost: $4-5 million — Believe will likely disappear from view in the very near future. Justin Bieber concert movies: ‘Believe’ vs. ‘Never Say Never’ Now, comparisons to Justin Bieber’s previous documentary / concert movie, also directed by Jon M. Chu, are tempting, but bear in mind that we’re dealing with apples and bananas here. Distributed by a major studio,...

Peter O’Toole movies and Best Actor Oscar nominations (photo: young Peter O’Toole in the early ’60s) (See previous post: "Peter O’Toole ‘Lawrence of Arabia’ Actor: Eight-Time Oscar Nominee Dead at 81.") At the 2003 Academy Awards ceremony, Meryl Streep handed Peter O’Toole an Honorary Oscar. That remained O’Toole’s sole Academy Award "victory." In fact, with eight Best Actor Oscar nominations to his credit, Peter O’Toole held — or rather, holds — the Oscars’ record for the most nods in any of the acting categories without a single (competitive) win. He was shortlisted for the following films: ‘Lawrence of Arabia’ "I can’t imagine anyone whom I’m less like than T.E. Lawrence," Peter O’Toole himself admitted, but his characterization in David Lean’s Lawrence of Arabia (1962) was widely admired all the same. The movie itself, however historically inaccurate, also received enthusiastic praise, and was perceived as...

Molinaro-Directed Subtitled Comedy Blockbuster Led to Two Sequels and One Highly Popular U.S. Remake
‘La Cage aux Folles’ film: Edouard Molinaro international box office hit (photo: Ugo Tognazzi and Michel Serrault in ‘La Cage aux Folles’) (See previous post: “‘La Cage aux Folles’ Director Edouard Molinaro Dead at 85.”) But Edouard Molinaro’s best-known effort — comedy or otherwise — remains La Cage aux Folles (approximate translation: "The Cage of the Queens"), which sold 5.4 million tickets when it came out in France in 1978. Perhaps because many saw it as a letdown when compared to Jean Poiret’s immensely popular 1973 play, Molinaro’s movie ended up nominated for a single César Award — for eventual Best Actor winner Michel Serrault. Somewhat surprisingly, in the next couple of years La Cage aux Folles would become a major hit in the United States and other countries. Released by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer in the U.S. in 1979, the film grossed $20.42 million at the North American box office — or about $65 million in 2013 dollars, a remarkable sum for a subtitled release.

James Franco is a drug dealer — again — in his new film “Homefront,” which he promoted Thursday on “Conan.” It’s at least the third time the actor has played a pusher on film (“Pineapple Express,” “Spring Breakers”) — though there have probably been other similar roles, he admitted. Also read: ‘Homefront’ Review: Jason Statham vs. James Franco in Uneasy Mashup of Brutish Action and Family Values In reality, the job doesn’t suit Franco: ”I would not be a good drug dealer,” he admitted to Conan O’Brien. “If you put aside the high, the glamorous murders … it’s just like a business,...

Recently, "Boardwalk Empire's" Ron Livingston told Zap2it of his time on HBO's "Sex and the City": "I don't think there's an actor in New York who didn't either die on a 'Law & Order' or wasn't one of Carrie's boyfriends."
While not all of 2013's Emmy nominees died on "Law & Order" (some of them had to be the killer/rapist/criminal mastermind), 29 of them have a connection with one or more installment of the "L&O" franchise.
"Homeland's" Morena Baccarin did her time as a "Criminal Intent" extra, and "30 Rock" nominee Alec Baldwin has actually never been on "Law & Order." But he did get a co-credit for the story that became Season 8's "Tabloid."
Bobby Cannavale -- who is nominated for both his "Boardwalk Empire" and "Nurse Jackie" roles this year -- has always been an overachiever, having appeared on "Law & Order," "Svu" and "Criminal Intent." But...

Plus, an unwelcome guest returns to Rosewood and stirs up trouble. Naturally.
We still don’t know for sure who killed Detective Wilden (Bryce Johnson), but after the June 25 episode of Pretty Little Liars, we can narrow our potential suspect list considerably. … Just kidding! Hanna (Ashley Benson) got a peek at the cops’ board of suspects, and it turns out nearly everyone in Rosewood — including the liars — is on it. We did, however, get a pretty big clue that singles out one of the liars’ moms, and it should come as no surprise which mom that is.
That’s right, it’s Ashley (Laura Leighton)! The saucy minx — and totally natural redhead — has been on my watch list since day one, and soon, she could also be on the police’s. It turns out she was in Rosewood the night Wilden was killed, and Hanna’s dad realized his gun...
