Telefónica’s streaming platform MoviStar Plus is offering Spanish customers an unbelievable opportunity to watch professional soccer games at an incredibly low price.
From now until August 31, MoviStar Plus customers who subscribe to the Fusión or MiMoviStar packages can sign up for a promotion that unlocks access to La Liga, La Liga Hypermotion, UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League games for a one-time payment of €30 (about U.S. $32).
The price is substantially lower from the €45 per month (about U.S. $48 per month) that MoviStar Plus charges for access to the soccer-filled sports package — and that is the exact price Telefónica intends to charge subscribers if they try to sign up for the plan after August 31.
Matches will be distributed through MoviStar Plus and Dazn La Liga when the 2024-25 season begins later this year. Events from the UEFA Champions League semi-finals are slated to start...

About two and a half years have gone by since it was announced that Delroy Lindo – whose credits include Get Shorty, Da 5 Bloods, The Core, Malcolm X, and The Harder They Fall (plus more than 65 others) – had signed on to join Mahershala Ali in the cast of the Marvel Cinematic Universe reboot of Blade. While we wait to see if that Lindo will still be in that vampire hunter movie when it finally goes into production, The Hollywood Reporter has broken the news that Lindo has been cast in the mysterious genre project that’s coming our way from frequent collaborators Ryan Coogler and Michael B. Jordan – who have worked on Fruitvale Station, Creed, Black Panther, and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever together as director and cast member, and have other collaborations that Coogler didn’t direct. This project is shrouded in secrecy, but is rumored to be a vampire story.

After being discussed for around a decade, the Community movie is coming much closer to being a reality, according to star Joel McHale.
In an interview with Deadline today, in support of his Fox sitcom Animal Control, returning for its second season March 6, McHale first pointed to recent comments by co-star Donald Glover in an interview with Entertainment Tonight, confirming that “the script’s done.”
McHale said that while he hasn’t yet read the script himself, he’s more than happy to share some story details. “We go to the center of the earth,” he joked. “It’s like the movie The Core.”
In all seriousness, McHale said, it’s his belief that the Community movie will shoot “this year.” He’ll be “shocked,” he said, if it doesn’t. “But I really do think it’s happening this year, and probably next week. It’s basically working around Donald’s schedule.”
In conversation with Deadline on the Fox lot, McHale also called his Animal Control cast “one of the funniest groups of people I’ve been around” — in contrast to the Community team, who he joked “were just a bunch of hacks.”
While one of his old co-stars, Ken Jeong, appears on Animal Control this season as a dog whisperer, McHale joked that he, too, is “a hack and cannot act or tell jokes,” going on to claim that “he’s not funny, not successful, and I have carried him for years. Everyone thinks I’m joking, but it’s true.”
Of course, in reality, McHale said, Jeong’s episodes were coming in too long because he did “so much funny stuff…He was really way too f***ing funny, and it really pissed me off.”
Created by Dan Harmon, Community ran for 110 episodes across six seasons, between 2009 and 2015, originating on NBC before moving over to the now-defunct Yahoo! Screen for its final run. Watching as McHale’s suspended lawyer befriends a group of eccentrics after being enforced to enroll in community college, the show was not always a ratings juggernaut, though it has maintained a very loyal fan following throughout all these years. Over the course of its run, it also notably won an an Emmy, a Critics’ Choice Television Award, and other accolades.
Peacock officially announced the Community movie back in 2022, enlisting Harmon and Andrew Guest to pen the script. McHale said during a January 2023 interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live! that it was to begin shooting in June of last year, though those plans fell through in a double strike summer.
In addition to McHale, cast members set to return for the movie include Pudi, Alison Brie, Gillian Jacobs, Jim Rash, Jeong, Yvette Nicole Brown, and Glover.

Prime Video’s big February drop is Mr. & Mrs. Smith! No, not the 2005 Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie action movie, but a new TV series kinda based on it starring Donald Glover and Maya Erskine. The set up for the show version? Glover and Erskine are two strangers who both get jobs at a shady spy agency and are asked to get married so that they can pretend to be a couple undercover, but things get more complicated when they start falling in love for real. Uh oh!

Hillary Swank rallies her entire town to help out a neighbor in the latest trailer for Lionsgate’s true-life faith-based drama “Ordinary Angels.”
The two-time Oscar winner plays a hairdresser who inserts herself into the life of a grieving widower with a critically ill daughter. The kid needs a new liver, and the dad just needs a little help. As revealed in the trailer, circumstances change when a new organ becomes available for transplant, but it requires a cross-country flight and happens to occur during a once-in-a-generation cold front.
Swank won two Best Actress Oscars, one in 2000 for “Boys Don’t Cry” and one in 2005 for “Million Dollar Baby.” Although she never really became a bankable draw, she has made a career out of mostly top-billed leading roles in films like “Amelia,” “The Core” and “The Gift.” Moreover, she almost never found herself just playing the love interest or the lone woman in a macho melodrama,...

In the offices of Dunder Mifflin (Scranton branch), salesmen, accountants and even Hr got together to decide once and for all: Is Hilary Swank hot or not? In the years between her Oscars? Not exactly. Now? No. So, let’s take a look and find out…Wtf Happened to…Hilary Swank?

The Pink Ladies of “Grease,” the most colorful Rydell High students, are back on April 6 on Paramount+. However, this won’t be the same collection of young women from the original film — or even its cult classic sequel. This round, we see how the popular clique got its start. The girls now have a show of their own: “Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies,” a salute to 1950s teens who refuse to conform to conventional standards. The new musical series shows us Rydell High before Sandy and Danny start strutting down the halls. The show stars Marisa Davila, Cheyenne Isabel Wells, Ari Notartomaso, and Tricia Fukuhara.

Right from its inception, the "Scream" franchise was never intended to be merely a great horror movie. Original writer Kevin Williamson always wanted the film to have loftier goals; as he said in a 2021 interview, "'Scream' was a new way of doing a horror film, a deconstruction." Original director Wes Craven almost didn't direct the first "Scream," having already made another meta-deconstruction of the horror genre, 1994's "Wes Craven's New Nightmare," but was convinced to sign on eventually.
In Williamson and Craven's hands, the first four "Scream" films doubled as of-the-moment commentaries on the state of the slasher film and Hollywood trends in general. The first "Scream" established the general "rules" of a slasher, "Scream 2" opined on the increased budgets and mayhem of a sequel, "Scream 3" mused on what makes a good trilogy, and "Scream 4" tackled the then-rampant trend of the "reboot." 2022's "Scream," directed...

This Scream 6 article contains spoilers.
One of my favorite elements of the Scream franchise is how each movie’s end credits tips the hat to its cast of characters. This goes all the way back to the original 1996 installment where instead of just showing the names of, say, “Neve Campbell,” “Skeet Ulrich,” and “Drew Barrymore,” each of their title cards would be accompanied with a close-up shot where the frame rate slowed down and then froze after a few seconds. Thirty years ago, these were essentially little gifs before the term became commonplace in online parlance.
The practice of showing the faces of the actors in the movie you just watched goes back a lot further than Scream, of course, with it being practically a staple of ‘80s Hollywood blockbusters like Top Gun (1986) and The Blues Brothers (1980). But there was a decidedly ‘90s spin on it in Scream and Scream 2,...

Scream VI is having its press junket this weekend, and the lucky journalists who participated (including our own JimmyO) saw the film last night. Immediately after the screening, they were allowed to share their thoughts on social media, with a full review embargo set to break later this week. Our man Jimmy said the following:
“#Scream6 is a delight! The cast all shine, old and new, and the kills are pretty damn brutal. It’s one the finest sequels in the series with unexpected (and fun) twists throughout! I sure like this scary movie!”
Other reactions were similarly positive, with many praising the amped-up gore and the new urban New York City setting. Of course, one must remember that junket screenings are always pretty positive, and it’s customary that if someone is doing interviews for the movie and they happened to hate it, they wouldn’t share their reaction.

HBO Max may (hopefully) be done randomly pulling original series from the service, but there are still a number of TV shows and films due to leave HBO Max in January as part of the regularly scheduled shuffling.
Multiple seasons of “The Bachelor” and “The Bachelorette” will leave HBO Max on Jan. 3, so get those final binge-watches in Asap. And the beloved WB series “Everwood” is due to depart on Jan. 21 if you feel like seeing what young Chris Pratt was up to in the early 2000s.
In terms of movies leaving HBO Max, there are quite a lot. “The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It” turns into a ghost on Jan. 20, while Jon M. Chu’s delightful musical “In the Heights” leaves on Jan. 27.
Noteworthy films leaving HBO Max on Jan. 31 include the first three “John Wick” movies, the first three “Jurassic Park” films, the first two installments in the “Fantastic Beasts” franchise,...

In 2057, the sun will begin to fade out and die. Life on Earth is under threat of extinction. Humankind's solution is to gather what scant fissile materials that are remaining on the planet, construct a powerful nuclear bomb, and launch it into the sun in the hope of "restarting" it. The first mission, Icarus I, has already failed. It will be up to the crew of Icarus II to complete the mission. Like the ship's namesake, they are to fly too close to the sun. They are literally Earth's last hope. The mission will, thanks to various cosmic powers, become increasingly desperate and difficult. Additionally, facing the awesome power of a heavenly body drives most of the astronauts into an existential torpor. The captain often goes to a heavily shaded observation deck to look at the sun directly. In his more ponderous moments, he orders the computer to reduce the...

The Notebook Primer introduces readers to some of the most important figures, films, genres, and movements in film history. The Last Winter (2006).What I am suggesting is that the imagery of disaster…is above all the emblem of an inadequate response. I do not mean to bear down on the films for this. They themselves are only a sampling, stripped of sophistication, of the inadequacy of most people's response to the unassimilable terrors that infect their consciousness.—Susan Sontag, The Imagination of DisasterOn 15 March 2022, an eastern Antarctic ice shelf the size of New York City collapsed into the ocean. Climate change is accelerating faster than anticipated, and the window in which to correct centuries of carbon dumping before setting off a sixth mass extinction event is minuscule, if not already slammed shut. Humanity has had decades to take action, but like a deer frozen in the headlights of an oncoming SUV,...

Sean Penn doesn’t have Covid, after all. Paul Thomas Anderson announced from the stage at last night’s DGA Awards that Penn — his Licorice Pizza cast members who was going to present the filmmaker with a special medallion — had to skip the event because Penn had tested positive. Deadline is told that Penn did test positive in preparation for attending the DGAs, where the ceremony required attendees to show proof of vaccination and a negative Covid test result. But the suspicion is that the test result was a false positive, per his camp. Some 48 hours after that first test, Penn has tested negative and was never symptomatic.
Penn is no stranger to the Covid cause. When the pandemic hit two years ago, his Core group was at the forefront of efforts to arrange for testing for those who would have found it difficult to get otherwise. When vaccines became available,...

There's a point in William Peter Blatty's incendiary 1971 horror novel "The Exorcist" when Father Karras asks Father Merrin what the purpose of possession might be -- if, according to their religion, a demon cannot touch a victim's will. Merrin considers this question, then thoughtfully replies:
"I think the demon's target is not the possessed; it is us ... the observers ... every person in this house ... I think the point is to make us despair; to reject our own humanity, Damien: to see ourselves as ultimately bestial; as ultimately vile and putrescent; without dignity; ugly; unworthy. And there...

During a press conference for his Cannes Competition film Flag Day, actor-director Sean Penn took aim at former president Donald Trump after being questioned about own humanitarian efforts during the ongoing pandemic — on his own dime, and under the banner of his Core (Community Organized Relief Effort) project, Penn has been responsible for bringing much-needed testing and vaccinations to deprived areas in major U.S. cities.
“I don’t think that I can illuminate anything that shouldn’t be plain to the eye,” Penn said calmly. “We were — not only as a country, but as a world — let down and ultimately neglected, misinformed, had truth and reason assaulted under what was, in all terms, an obscene administration, humanly and politically. The up-and-down life and career of Scott Weiland, the Stone Temple Pilots singer who died in 2015, may become the subject of a film, as a script based on his memoir has been put into development under the title “Paper Heart.”
Dark Pictures and producer Orian Williams have picked up “Not Dead & Not for Sale,” the book Weiland wrote with author David Ritz, it was reported Monday by the Hollywood Reporter. The script is being written by Jennifer Erwin, one of Dark Pictures’ co-founders and a self-professed major fan of Stone Temple Pilots.
“It’s an honor to have the trust to tell Scott’s story and the ability to portray the lesser known sides of him – the loving and tender man he was, the high school athlete he was, the melancholy soul he was and the legendary frontman that he will always be,” Erwin said in a statement.

Metroid Dread, a game more than 15 years in the making, is finally releasing this year from Nintendo. Not only does the new entry in the series revive a project originally conceived for the DS but it picks up story threads left over from 2002’s Metroid Fusion for the Game Boy Advance. But, while Metroid Dread certainly feels like a 2D blast from the past, this new side-scroller is actually primed to explore Samus’ future, according to game designer Yoshio Sakamoto.
“Continuing the saga that began in 1986 with Metroid and continued through Metroid II, Super Metroid, and Metroid Fusion, this is the first new story and new episode for the series in 19 years,” Sakamoto said of Metroid Dread in a developer diary released after the Nintendo Direct. “The series has chronicles the uncanny relationship between Metroids [parasitic life-forms that can we weaponized] and the heroine Samus, but this game will mark and end to that story arc.

The arc of the moral universe may bend toward justice, but it needs a little boost here and there. In the case of Black LGBTQ media, a few watershed moments shot through the culture more like a geyser than a sprinkling of incremental change: When “Orange Is The New Black” introduced the force that is Laverne Cox, when “Moonlight” won Best Picture, and when “Pose” premiered on FX.
Heading into its third and final season next month, the New York City ballroom scene drama — set in the late 1980s to early ‘90s — broke records from the jump. Its 2018 premiere marked the most transgender performers as series regulars in scripted television history, and they were all of Black or Latinx descent.

A new year means a new start. But in its list of new year releases for January 2021, Hulu is sending a message of…eh, we’ll get the year started in February. Not to be overly rude to the usually sturdy streaming service, but there’s not much going on for Hulu in 2021’s first month.

Hulu is kicking off the new year in style next month, with January set to deliver a ton of fresh titles to the Disney-owned streaming service. There’s a bunch of original content landing throughout the first few weeks of 2021, but probably the highlight is the incredible number of classic movies that are going up on the site on New Year’s Day. Whether you’re in the mood for iconic comedies, dramas, animated efforts or sci-fi flicks, there’s something for you on the way.
There are well over 100 films being added to Hulu’s library on January 1st, so let’s just pick out a few notable titles. The full Austin Powers trilogy is among them, and if you can’t get enough of Mike Myers, the first Shrek likewise becomes available. For dramas, there’s Robert Downey Jr. biopic Chaplin, Johnny Depp vehicle Donnie Brasco and Jim Carrey’s The Truman Show.

Match #1: Richard Holliday vs. Tjp (w/ Bu Ku Dao) – Opera Cup Tournament Match (Opening Round) The following is courtesy of mlw.com:
“The Carribean Champion” hands his title over to the offcial whom he prompts to hoist it up in a moment of glamour (this is a total non-title match for those keeping track). Holliday holds court further by making an event of him holstering his Air Pods. The bell rings and we’re underway. The two men circle one another before a very brief lock-up and a reset. The second lock-up has Tjp getting sent to the canvas due to the strength of Holliday.
