The game play is similar to "Sewer Shark"

Loadstar: The Legend of Tully Bodine is a game published and developed by Rocket Science Games for the Sega CD in 1994 and MS-DOS PC computers in 1995. Lately I've been exploring the world of full motion video gaming on some of the classic CD consoles from the 90's. So if you like Full Motion Video games like i do then you might enjoy this game.

The plot of the game is to have Tully Bodine, who has agreed to escort contraband camels for big cash. However, he has to avoid the police in the process. The game play mainly consists of the player trying to steer clear of accidents and the police, and shoot down enemies and creatures, the gameplay is similar to "Sewer Shark. The goal is to get the camels to their destination. It is basic on-rails stuff where each level has a slight variation, but mostly it remains the same.

This is one of the more interesting and tolerable FMV games on the Sega CD, Loadstar has acting that actually isn't bad and gameplay that's actually functional, but the game is significantly downgraded from its PC counterpart. The PC version has better visuals.

I have played both versions, the Sega CD and the PC version and basically the game play is the same except that the Sega-CD version of this game is missing the final level of the PC Dos version, other then that it's the same.

The only problem i found was that the three main levels, are fairly long and repetitive but nonetheless the game's production values make it above average, and it is "fast, fun, and addictive".

The game also stars two respectable acting talents, Ned Beatty and Barry Primus as the two main characters, they carry their parts quite well, so they were always great to watch, even after having to watch them several times over when I died so much. The retail box billed the game as "the first episode in the epic story of Tully Bodine." The second episode, entitled "Loadstar II: Showdown on Phobos," was cancelled and never made.

Conclusion - If you've played and enjoyed Sewer Shark on 3DO or Sega CD, then why don't you try Rocket Science Games' first PC title, "Loadstar: The Legend of Tully Bodine, who knows you might like it. I know i did.

I rate it 7/10
