Taboos & absurdity
Jay-1823 May 2004
Originally made as one of the Dutch progressive tv network VPRO's youth programmes, T&T was aimed at kids between ages 7 and 14, broadcast on Wednesdays and later Sundays. Most Theo & Thea broadcasts revolved around the two main characters - Theo and Thea, obviously - treating some of life's issues and even taboos, in their own naive, wacky and humorous way, from a kids' point of view. Prostitution, death, euthanasia, depression, lesbianism and nudism were just a few of the topics. Every episode ended with Theo & Thea asking the camera/audience "so, did you find out what this episode was about?" A truly iconic liberal, 1980s tv show, answering some of kids' questions about life.
