Beauty Is In The Parlor Of The Beholder
boblipton2 May 2019
It's spring, and all the men of Our Gang have love on their minds. When they overhear the female cohort speaking of their physical imperfections, they are downhearted at first. The they sneak into William Gillespie's beauty parlor, where they try out the latest concoctions and devices, if not, alas, to their hearts' content, in this funny short.

In this one they are aided by Florence Lee. The rascals may have had their problems with adults, but old people were frequently their allies; they too, knew the scorn of the world. Miss Lee had been born in the South in 1864. Her best known role was as the Blind Girl's Grandmother in Chaplin's CITY LIGHTS, but she was a veteran actor and screenwriter, with a career in the movies that stretched from 1911 through her death in 1933.

The Love Bug was another very funny Our Gang short
tavm26 September 2014
This Hal Roach comedy short, The Love Bug, is the thirty-seventh in the "Our Gang/Little Rascals" series. In this one, Farina, Joe, and Mickey are in love. All seems perfectly fine with them...until they hear the girls saying stuff they weren't meant to hear. So they all resolve to fix what they think is wrong with them according to what they heard their girlfriends say. Gene is the page at the beauty parlor and he lets them in while his boss is away. The boss had just fired his entire staff so he must have been looking for some new employees! I'll stop there and just say this was quite a hilarious short when taking place in the salon especially when Jackie fools with some controls! That's all I'll mention so on that note, I highly recommend The Love Bug.
