Bizarre, funny and memorable
originalveghead14 February 2006
It's wonderful to see that others remember this superb short film. To my knowledge this has only aired on (British) TV once and that was many years ago. I was lucky enough to tape it and kept it ever since, which means I can and do revel in it on a regular basis. Occasionally I meet people who saw it on that sole airing and have as much affection for it as I. Vas Blackwood and Eddie Osei are brothers on a magical night out. Vas Blackwood's character is sceptical that there is any magic around and cynical about everything else. I can't describe any more about this film without ruining its wonder; it's a film and needs to be seen. All I can really do is urge whoever owns the rights to get it released on DVD, and correct the previous reviewer: she wasn't dressed as a pack of cards, she was dressed as a Walkman that supplied the music for Vas Blackwood's "some enchanted evening" solo. The closing title music is especially good too, consisting of some beautiful African hornage.

An engaging, offbeat comedy
Chanzo11 November 1999
A very funny and very watchable comedy, as two brothers in London pursue their divergent approaches to romance. After seeing the film only once, and that ten years ago, somewhat surreal scenes are still remembered today: the guy on his way to a fancy dress party, dressed as a rabbit, crestfallen as his angry girlfriend attacks his car; the younger brother dating the French girl dressed as a pack of cards, who performs a number from 'South Pacific'; the older brother trying to explain to the police why he is out on the streets in his underwear. So many films make quite dull set pieces out of such material, but here it's deftly played and carried off to very good effect, and the whole is a notably witty and human comedy.

Tight Trousers

I remember this quite well mainly because Metin & I shared a terraced house in Newport MANY years ago. I have an idea a white rabbit was involved?? This was based on a real event when early one morning when I found a live white rabbit in the bath. Put there by Metin & Pete Gracia after a night out. I would love to see it again somehow!

A reasonable first film

I can't say that I found this 'comedy' amusing at all though that's not to say the cast and crew were without talent. The director Metin Huseyin has gone on to direct a string of good-quality projects and the lead actor, Vas Blackwood was excellent in Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels. I suppose i just find the thought of a young black man dressed as Margaret Thatcher on his way to a party not the funniest thing I've ever seen in my whole life. Fairly decent production values unsurprisingly enough (since the film is from the best film school in Europe, the National Film and Television School in Beaconsfield) at least alongside Prague Film School which is also excellent.
