This collection of blackout gags, disguised as a joke news reel had been moderately popular a decade and a half earlier -- there had been some nice ones from Leon Schlesinger's outfit had produced several, like Clampett's NUTTY NEWS; and the Fleischers had done a few.
This one-shot is pretty much in the standard mode, offering half a dozen short bits in the style of the form that was already beginning to disappear under the pressure of television news. Not only was a large percentage of the audience not going to the movie theater, for those who continued in the habit, why should they get their news once a week when they could get it fresh nightly? This seems to be the latest cartoon in which I have noticed a Black cannibal with a bone in his hair. I'm not sure that's something to be looking out for, but there it is.
