Music videos from the 30s
mart-457 July 2006
This is a very nice short musical, which is in the public domain and can be downloaded for free from the Prelinger Archives (www.archive.org). There's nothing much happening, but as an insight into the thirties, this looks very nice: some catchy tunes, some pretty young ladies, posh hairdos and clothes. It's done on a shoestring budget, but nevertheless, as a sample of old time "music videos", this can attract your attention for some 15 minutes. It features three musical numbers, which are campy and fun to watch. Unfortunately the artists are no longer remembered, so it's a good thing that they were caught on film at the prime of their youth. I'm not absolutely sure I am commenting on a right film, since the Gags and Gals I have lasts for only about 10 minutes, and actually it seems to be made around 1939-42, and hardly as early as 1936.
