The Exploding Hearts’ one and only studio album Guitar Romantic is getting the reissue treatment in honor of its 20th anniversary. Ahead of its release on May 26th via Third Man Records, a remix of “I’m a Pretender” by the band’s late keyboardist “King” Louie Bankston available to stream now.
The Portland band’s promising future was sadly cut much too short: In July 2003, barely three months after they released Guitar Romantic, the band was involved in a highway accident that tragically killed members Adam Cox, Matt Fitzgerald, and Jeremy Gage, rendering The Exploding Hearts obsolete. (Bankston died in February 2022.)
Still, Guitar Romantic went on to live a life of its own. The expanded reissue boasts the album’s original 10-song tracklist and Bankston’s “I’m a Pretender” remix he made shortly before his death, as well as new mixes of “So Bored” and “Busy Signals,” the...

Way back in 1976, when Paul Simon won Best Album of the Year for “Still Crazy After All These Years,” he said, “I'd like to thank Stevie Wonder for not releasing an album this year.” Way back last week, when directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller (“The Lego Movie”) picked up their New York Film Critics Circle award for Best Animated Feature, they joked, “We’d like to thank Pixar for not releasing a movie this year.” Next year at the Oscars, the winner of Best Documentary may well gaze soulfully at her statuette, look at the audience and say, “I’d like to thank Laura Poitras for not releasing a documentary this year.” If last night’s Cinema Eye Honors were any indication, Poitras is poised to win it all (despite the Ceh having been established precisely because the Academy Doc branch was giving every indication eight years ago that...

Really, Robin Thicke? This is how you're gonna get your soon-to-be-ex-wife Paula Patton back? The seemingly very revealing tracklisting for Paula is out (alongside its particularly mournful cover art) and at first glance, it seems like you can garner a lot of what may have happened between the couple with a simple read-through. Our thoughts: 1. “You’re My Fantasy”We get it. She's your one and only ... sexually. This is perhaps to negate all the sex talk in "Blurred Lines"? The rumors about Thicke's supposed cheating? Don't worry, Paula, you're still his fantasy. 2. “Get Her Back”Here's your thesis statement. 3. “Still Madly Crazy”"Still Crazy After All These Years," much? Paula, Robin is still into you. Madly! Crazy, actually. He's borderline. 4. “Lock the Door”Maybe a reference to securing the location before some serious lovemaking, or maybe a not-so-subtle nod to what Thicke maybe should have done before he acted unfaithfully.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2
Hans Zimmer and The Magnificent Six
Columbia, Madison Gate
“My name is Richard Parker. I have no idea what’s going on.” The cryptic video message from Peter’s dad, a storyline first teased in The Amazing Spider-Man, continues in the sequel to Sony’s reboot of its cash cow franchise. Of course, Papa Parker isn’t confused over the connections between his family and the machinations of OsCorp, nor does he hint at why The Amazing Spider-Man 2 might link Peter’s powers with the fate of his enemies. Neither does Marc Webb, for that matter. The universe of Webb’s second superhero flick in 4 years doesn’t expand so much as it has more stuff thrown at it. More villains, more plot threads, and more music.
And when it comes to The Amazing Spider-Man 2‘s score, “more” is key. After James Horner’s unremarkable work in the 2012 reboot,...

The CW’s Arrow stayed on target this Wednesday night, matching its premiere rating of 1.3 and besting NBC’s 8 o’clock comedy block (which averaged a 1.2).
And though the action-drama dipped 15 percent in total audience (to 3.5 million viewers), it actually rose week-to-week in both the Men 18-34 and Men 18-49 demos.
The news was not as good for two other Wednesday newbies: ABC’s Nashville dropped 24 and 29 percent from its series premiere to deliver 6.8 million total viewers and a 2.0 rating (thus falling behind CSI‘s 2.4). NBC’s Chicago Fire, with under 6 million total viewers and a 1.5, was down 11 and 21 percent in its second week.

Still Crazy after all these years? Well, Neil Young's certainly recording, performing and with plenty more to say, from the sound of things.
The passionately opinionated singer-songwriter with 34 albums under his belt - take note, One Direction - who released an album of classic American folk songs over the summer, has taken his own change of his direction, again, with new album Psychedelic Pill.
This is a 'Psychedelic Pill', just as we were told
With his Crazy Horse pack - guitarist Poncho Sampedro, bassist Billy Talbot and drummer Ralph Molina - Young has recorded the album at a studio on his own ranch (Broken Arrow to the uninitiated) - on analogue tape - remember that! - before being transferred to digital.
HuffPost UK is happy to host the track Twisted Road from the new album, due for release on 29 October. Watch Neil Young & Crazy Horse in action above. According to the blurb.

Why is it so hard to capture the energy of rock'n'roll on film? That's what Powder writer Kevin Sampson asked himself as he watched the Grams take to the stage
A crowd of some 50,000 edged forward with mild irritation as the Grams took to the stage. The lad next to me nudged his pal, their faces set in that certain way that has become ritual at music festivals over the years.

It was quite some journey that had taken the Grams to this top-end-of-the-bill slot at the V Festival. Paolo Nutini had just finished, the Enemy were on next, with Oasis due to play what turned out to be their last-ever show later that night. So what were a band that doesn't actually exist doing up there on stage?

Paolo Nutini had just finished, the Enemy were on next, with Oasis due to play what turned out to be their last-ever show later that night. So what were a band that doesn't actually exist doing up there on stage?

At the 1975 Grammys, Paul Simon, accepting the Album of the Year award for Still Crazy After All These Years, famously thanked Stevie Wonder for “not releasing an album this year.” Wonder won the previous year for Fulfillingness’ First Finale, and would win the following year for Songs in the Key of Life. All five of this year’s nominees, as strong as they may be (I’ve never heard a Lady Antebellum song in my life), should probably thank their respective gods that Kanye West’s My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy isn’t eligible until the 2011 awards. I’m not Jimmy the Greek (to paraphrase Robert Plant, last year’s Aoty co-winner, who called out, “Does anyone remember Jimmy the Greek?”), but if I had to handicap the category based my lifetime of watching the event (I actually saw the show where Jethro Tull beat Metallica for Best Hard Rock...

To Kill A Mockingbird At 50 might just be the TV choice of the week, as we round up the next week's telly. Plus, as usual, there's a lot of films to get through...!
A new comedy show launched last Friday, and its second show airs tonight, July 2nd at 11:05pm on Channel 4. I'm far from Patrick Kielty's biggest fan, but any outlet for comedians of the calibre of the planned guests is a welcome one. Politics, news, and sporting losses are always easier to take when dished out by funny people and Rich Hall, Jack Whitehall, Andi Osho and Kevin Bridges do just that in an appropriate bar setting in Stand Up For The Week.
Family Guy continues its Star Wars specials on Sunday, July 4th, with Something, Something, Something, Dark Side. We think it's as good a pairing as Robot Chicken, Legos, or thumbs can manage.

Grown Ups
Directed by: Dennis Dugan
Cast: Adam Sandler, Kevin James, Chris Rock, David Spade, Rob Schneider, Salma Hayek
Running Time: 1 hr 40 mins
Rating: PG-13
Release Date: June 25, 2010
Plot: Five friends from childhood (Sandler, James, Rock, Spade, Schneider) are reunited for a wacky weekend of boyish fun with their families, when their old basketball coach passes away.
Who’S It For?: Those who enjoy the comedy from any five of these clowns are probably already programmed for the exact level of humor that this movie could offer. As for the title demographic, it’s more likely their kids will laugh more than the actual grown ups will.
Expectations: I was unsure stepping into this one how it would turn out. I was aware though, that I had laughed a couple of times during the trailer, which I feel is a decent average for a comedy preview.
Scorecard (0-10)

Nostalgia is a powerful thing and HeyUGuys felt it was high time we got caught up with one of the most familiar and much-loved actors of the 80s and 90s, Keith Coogan.
Fondly remembered for his awesome performances as heavy metal-loving Kenny, “the dishes are done, man” and love-struck Brad, “Thor’s a homo” in cult classics Adventures in Babysitting and Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitter’s Dead, Coogan reflects on his experiences in Hollywood and brings us up to speed on his current projects.
HeyUGuys: What have you been up to lately?
I have been working on the “Monologue a Day Project”, also shooting the web series “Crafty”, and doing some writing for shorts and features I’d like to produce and direct.
HeyUGuys: How did you get into acting?
I was watching Mr. Roger’s Neighborhood, Sesame Street, Electric Company, Romper Room, and Villa Alegre! when I said to my self,...

Over the last year or so, he has become one of the most closely scrutinized celebrities in the entire world. Every time Robert Pattinson sneezes, it seems like 12 supermarket tabloids run a cover story. So, how is it that the "Twilight" saga superstar could be surprising his fans with a brand-new film that comes out next week?
"The Haunted Airman" premieres on DVD on Tuesday, a release date that has taken even RPattz's most loyal fans (who've scrambled to see such little-known flicks as "How to Be" and "Little Ashes") by surprise. It has had little to no publicity on any of Rob's fan sites, and there is little written about the film online.

Back in October, Joaquin Phoenix said that he is quitting acting in order to focus on his rap career. It was widely believed to be a hoax, but it's now almost a year later, and he still has zero projects lined up in Hollywood. And if you're wondering whether he will ever get back to acting, based on his recent behavior, I would say that it's not likely. Several witnesses recently spotted Phoenix walk into a Los Angeles store to pick out some new clothes. "He was looking though the racks and finally grabbed a black velvet cape, black trousers and mesh top, ducked into a dressing room and began belting out rap songs," an onlooker said. "He mumbled madly while the girl counted out his change and offered him a bag for his own clothes. He rushed out of the store wearing his velvet cape and dumped his old...

Sharon Osbourne found herself in some legal trouble recently after she physically attacked a woman on television - but that doesn't seem to have helped her learn any lessons about keeping her temper in check. While Osbourne did refrain from throwing punches, she did not refrain from going off on a reporter who made the mistake of asking her about her family's drug addictions. Apparently, the only people that are allowed to blabber on about the Osbournes' drug addictions are the Osbournes themselves. During a press conference call, in which Sharon Osbourne was promoting her family's new show "Osbournes: Reloaded," she was asked if she thou ...
