The content of this page was created directly by users and has not been screened or verified by IMDb staff.
Since the beliefs that parents want to instill in their children can vary greatly, we ask that instead of adding your personal opinions about what is right or wrong in a film, that you instead use this feature to help parents make informed viewing decisions by describing the facts of relevant scenes in the title for each one of the different categories: Sex and Nudity, Violence and Gore, Profanity, Alcohol/Drugs/Smoking, and Frightening/Intense Scenes.

Sex & Nudity

One kissing and one dirty dancing scene in a nightclub. It's implied a man is naked, but we only see his bare torso.

One of the young freedom fighters tells Neo he can "hook him up" with a woman in a red dress, a computer program he created.

Violence & Gore

Lots and lots and lots of killings with high-tech machine guns, resulting in numerous bodies.

there are slight video game-esqe blood-spray gunshot wounds on the chests and on the backs of a few people. A couple of people are shot in the face, with some blood spraying from their foreheads.

There are a few violent & "medical" procedures in which some sort of bolts, used to connect humans to the matrix, are taken off of neo's body with no blood.

One man gets zapped by a laser gun and we see his charred arm.

There are numerous fistfights, all very Jackie Chan like with lots of karate chops and things to that affect there is occasionally blood, but nothing over the top.

A few persons get their heads and bodies slamed against walls.

The agents make Neo's facial skin is tighten so much that he can't open his mouth. A big slithering centipede-like creature is dropped on a man's bare chest and digs into his belly button (it is seen moving underneath his skin) but no blood is shown; shortly thereafter, the creature is sucked out of his navel into a tube some blood is seen).

Trinity throws a knife into a man's forehead, but we don't see any blood.

One man enters another man's body and the body explodes and disintegrates, this is shown in a way that the people look like some strange computer code silhouette.

Numerous bloody lips and blackened eyes.

A helicopter crashes into the side of a building, but no one is killed, not much worse than Incredibles violence.

One agent gets run over by a speeding train with no blood.

Profanity

The middle-finger

Several uses of the word shit no more times than your average PG-13 movie though.

One use of "fuck"

A few uses of "damn", "goddamn", and "ass".

A man wakes up from being hooked up to the Matrix. Many wires and tubes are attached to him, and he is covered in slime.

Some may find it troubling that many police officers are shot and killed by main characters in this movie.

Some human characters are shown turning into digital-like code and disappearing.

The "bug" scene and the extraction of it might be disturbing to some.

(if you would like the oppinion of a guy who has seen real R-rated movies this movie is suitable for 10 and up, and is nothing more than a slightly bloody PG-13 fantasy-action movie.)
