When Renee Poche received word that she'd been cast on Love Is Blind, the Texas veterinarian was excited about the opportunity to find a partner -- and maybe a modicum of fame -- on Netflix's most popular dating show.
But as she explains in a new interview with Variety, Poche soon found herself in a hellish situation involving abuse, isolation, and some very messy legal drama.
According to legal documents filed by Poche, the nightmare began when production staff seized her phone, passport, and driver’s license and proceeded to lock her in a hotel room.
Poche says her safety was further compromised when she was pressured into an abusive relationship with Carter Wall, a fellow contestant who made his way through the show's vetting process despite being unemployed, unhoused, and addicted to multiple substances.
Poche's story might be more horrifying than most, but sadly, her situation is not...

Gerry Turner traded “I dos” with his TV soulmate Theresa Nist, as The Golden Bachelor‘s Golden Wedding aired live on ABC as a two-hour event. Some runner-ups cheered them on, like professional officiant Susan Noles, a previous vier for Turner’s heart who presided over exchanging vows during the event. Some drowned their sorrows and celebrated love, like runner-up Leslie Fhima and Kathy Swarts, the latter of whom hosted the show from the golden carpet with several shady lines throughout the evening. Others from the Bachelor Nation, like The Bachelor‘s latest couple, Brayden Bowers and Christina Mandrell, use the birds in the air to make some significant choices on air. But everything else meant nothing once the groom and bride started walking down the aisle. Check out the top 5 most unforgettable moments of The Golden Wedding below. The Bachelor has often been dismissed as guilty-pleasure reality TV fluff, and honestly, that reputation is well-earned. So when The Golden Bachelor was first announced, we thought it would be a joke, with senior citizens wearing bikinis and getting into dumb catfights. The pair had just discussed with franchise host Jesse Palmer that they were about to move in together in Nashville after Mandrell reached out to Bowers via Instagram following his return from filming Bachelor in Paradise. But Bowers had something else to get off his chest.

In the ever-evolving world of American television, hundreds of shows are produced every year with the aim to captivate domestic viewers. However, with the global expansion of the entertainment sector, an intriguing pattern has surfaced: some American TV series are becoming immensely popular overseas, sometimes even outperforming their U.S. demand. A show that might receive a lukewarm reception in the U.S. could become a sensation in regions like Europe, Asia or South America.
The rise of global streaming services and improved internet accessibility means international audiences now have unprecedented access to American content, just as Americans can more readily explore international shows. Based on Parrot Analytics demand data, we’ve identified several U.S. TV productions that have resonated more profoundly outside the states. It’s important to consider that this data takes into account consumer research, streaming, downloads and social media, among other consumer engagement, and it...

Normally on “The View,” it’s Whoopi Goldberg who’s displeased about Hot Topics regarding reality TV shows or stars, or anything in that realm. But, as she’s out on Fridays, Ana Navarro stepped up to fill that position this week, joking that she’d rather “be thrown on the other side” of the border wall than discuss “The Bachelor.”
Indeed, as one of their Hot Topics for the day, the women of “The View” discussed this week’s rose ceremony on “The Golden Bachelor.” During said ceremony — which, for those unfamiliar with the dating show, is when the Bachelor decides who he’s sending home — star Gerry Turner openly began crying as he said goodbye to some of the ladies.
The question at hand was whether the ABC hosts felt uncomfortable seeing a grown man cry, or whether they appreciated the vulnerability. But, Navarro admitted she wanted no...

Last week, “The Golden Bachelor” premiered, launching a new twist on an old franchise that has everyone talking.
The show premiered to strong ratings, with 7.7 million viewers watching on ABC, in delayed viewing and streaming on Hulu, delivering the strongest debut performance from a “Bachelor” series in three years.
The spinoff has been long in the making, and wouldn’t have been greenlit had ABC not found its perfect leading man — which it did in Gerry Turner, a 72-year-old grandfather and widower from Indiana, who will be dating numerous women at the same time on national TV for seven more episodes.
Turner’s journey to find love again will air Thursday nights as a marquee show of the strike-affected broadcast season. “The Golden Bachelor” marks a new era not only for the franchise, but also a new day in reality dating competitions, which historically have focused mostly on 20-and-30-something...

ABC’s The Golden Bachelor is breathing new life into Bachelor Nation, and we’re here for it. Gerry Turner is already the perfect addition to the world of The Bachelor. He hopes to find love following the death of his late wife, Toni Turner. We don’t want to see Gerry upset in the show. But he admitted that he cries a lot this season, and there’s a specific reason.
‘The Golden Bachelor’ star Gerry Turner explains why he’s crying in the series
The Golden Bachelor star Gerry Turner doesn’t hold back his tears. We loved seeing Gerry open up early on in the premiere. His emotions offered an authenticity to the show we haven’t seen in a while. That said, it hurts to watch Gerry cry, especially knowing everything he went through in the past.
Gerry further explained his emotions while speaking to GQ.

ABC’s Bachelor in Paradise Season 9 fans were shocked to see Hannah Brown in the initial trailer (writers at Showbiz Cheat Sheet included). Hannah had a tough go at being The Bachelorette, as her engagement with Jed Wyatt didn’t work out. So, is she back on the beach for love? Here’s what to know about whether Hannah Brown’s single in 2023 and why she’s appearing on the show.
Is Hannah Brown single in 2023?
Bachelor in Paradise Season 9 features former Bachelorette star Rachel Recchia on the beach looking for love, but early trailers indicated Hannah Brown also takes to the beach. As an avid Bachelor Nation viewer, I loved watching Hannah’s season — though it didn’t pan out well for her. While Hannah chose Jed Wyatt, Jed had questionable reasons for appearing on the show in the first place. Unsurprisingly, Hannah and Jed cut off their engagement.

After a solid showing for its initial broadcast, The Golden Bachelor continued gathering momentum in the subsequent days — enough to hit a three-year high for the Bachelor franchise in total viewers.
The Sept. 28 premiere rose to 7.7 million viewers after three days of cross-platform viewing, a gain of 3.34 million viewers (and almost 77 percent) over its on-air tally of 4.36 million. The episode also more than tripled its adults 18-49 rating, rising from 0.62 for the initial broadcast to 1.9 after three days.
The total viewer count was the best three-day total for any installment of the Bachelor franchise since a season 16 episode of The Bachelorette in November 2020. In the 18-49 demographic, it’s the best showing for the franchise since the “After the Final Rose” follow-up to season 26 of The Bachelor in March 2022.

“Did you see Gabby?” asks Colton Underwood. “I knew I wasn’t the only one!”
Sitting on a deep couch sipping coffee and kombucha in the Los Angeles home he shares with his husband of four months and their dogs, Underwood is talking about Gabby Windey, a former star of “The Bachelorette.” On the day of this conversation in August, Windey had just come out on social media, revealing that she is dating a woman.
It was two years ago that Underwood, a former pro football player, made history as the first star of “The Bachelor” to come out as gay. His secret was first met with praise, sparking conversations about the need to modernize heteronormative standards in reality TV and in sports. But then, Underwood’s coming-out was scrutinized and met with intense controversy, as the media and fans picked apart his past.

Some of the first shows to go dark at the start of the writers strike were among the first to make their returns Monday.
Network late night shows resumed Monday night, five months to the day after they closed up shop when the Writers Guild of America went on strike. With a tentative agreement in hand, the guild called an end to the strike last week, which allowed ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live, CBS’ Late Show With Stephen Colbert and NBC’s Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and Late Night With Seth Meyers to start up again. (HBO’s Real Time With Bill Maher and Last Week Tonight With John Oliver resumed over the weekend.)
All four hosts opened their shows with expressions of gratitude for the WGA’s new contract. In a pre-taped cold open, Colbert pretended to be on a rowboat at sea when a dolphin informed him the strike had ended with,...

It’s been nearly five months since Jimmy Kimmel hosted his late-night show Jimmy Kimmel Live! owing to the writers’ strike. In the meantime, Kimmel co-hosted the all-star podcast Strike Force Five alongside Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Fallon, John Oliver, and Seth Meyers to raise funds for their out-of-work writers, and recently suffered a bout of Covid, causing the cancellation of the pod’s live performance in his native Las Vegas.
“In case you’ve forgotten, my name is Jimmy,” he announced during his opening monologue. “We’ve been off the air for five months.

Late night was back in full force on Monday night, and the hosts of “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert,” “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” “Jimmy Kimmel Live” and “Late Night With Seth Meyers” were all expected to have something to say about it in their opening monologues.
“It feels good to be back,” Colbert said at the start of his Oct. 2 monologue — his first since May 1, the last evening before the WGA strike commenced the following day. “It feels good to be with all of you again here in the Ed Sullivan Theatre. Because after the first few months of the strike, [Colbert’s wife] Evie refused to keep chanting my name. But now the writers’ strike is over, with a new contract that includes protections from A.I., cost of living increases, better pay for streaming. Gerry Turner, a retired restauranteur from Indiana, was dancing his way into a slew of dates on Thursday night’s opening episode of The Golden Bachelor.
The latest extension of the ABC dating franchise opened with 4.36 million viewers and a 0.62 rating in the 18-49 demographic, per Nielsen Live+Same Day national ratings.
Hosted by Jesse Palmer, the series comes from Warner Bros Unscripted Television and is exec produced by Andrew Frank, Bennett Graebner, Claire Freeland and Jason Ehrlich.
The number marked the biggest audience in the franchise since The Bachelor: After The Final Rose in March 2022 and delivered the strongest premiere for any series in the franchise since The Bachelor season premiere in 2021.
ABC said it also marked the most-watched debut for any unscripted series on any network in five months since the network’s own Jeopardy! Masters in May. The network highlighted that these numbers are expected to grow on delayed viewing with Hulu.

The premiere of The Golden Bachelor on ABC delivered a decent sized audience on Thursday — one larger than the most recent edition of its parent series, in fact. Thursday Night Football, meanwhile, continued its strong early-season results for Amazon’s Prime Video.
The Golden Bachelor, in which 72-year-old widower Gerry Turner looks for love among a group of age-appropriate women, drew 4.36 million viewers for its series premiere Thursday. That’s 47 percent higher than the premiere of the 27th edition of The Bachelor in January (same-day Nielsen ratings do not include streaming), and the biggest same-day audience for any iteration of the Bachelor franchise since the After the Final Rose episode in March 2022.
What’s more, despite featuring an older cast, The Golden Bachelor drew nearly as many younger viewers as The Bachelor did eight months ago: Thursday’s show averaged a 0.62 rating among adults 18-49, almost equaling the 0.65 for the season 27 Bachelor premiere.

For the residents of The Village at Sherman Oaks, a boutique senior living community 15 miles north of Los Angeles, they thought Thursday night would be a fun, group viewing of “The Golden Bachelor” in the screening room.
Around 25 residents lined up to get a front row seat in the theater, which was decorated with gold streamers and balloons and filled with snacks, from sparkling cider and popcorn to Werther’s and Ferrero Rocher chocolates. In fact, “The Golden Bachelor” was screened at 200 retirement homes across the country on Thursday night, all of which were set up with similar decor and treats.
The excitement was palpable. Meryl, a 91-year-old resident, has watched many seasons of “The Bachelor” and feels it is “time” for the spinoff. “He’s very good looking,” she said of Gerry Turner. “I’m exactly 20 years older than he is. If I were 20 years younger, I would have gone on the show.

While most contestants on “The Bachelor” franchise dread the all-night filming that comes with Night 1 introductions at the “Bachelor” mansion, “The Golden Bachelor” Gerry Turner was energized enough to keep the party going, even after 10 hours.
“The biggest surprise was that from 9 p.m. until 7:30 a.m. the next morning, I had energy.
