Sex & Nudity

  • One of the retail spaces in downtown Brantford in 1995 during the timeline after Alan is released from the game is shown to be a porn shop per the sign, but only for a few seconds while Alan runs through the town.

  • During the timeline of the game when Alan is released 26 later, the town of Brantford is shown be defaced with graffiti and people looting out of businesses.
  • After the grown-up Sarah Whittle recognizes the man talking to her about the board game played 26 years ago is in fact Alan, she faints and falls backwards - which Peter comments that Alan "killed" her. After they bring her to the mansion, she is still alive afterwards.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • About midway through the movie, Alan summons a hunter who chases after him and repeatedly tries to shoot him. At one point, he tries to shoot Alan in the head, but misses.
  • There is a scene which involves many spiders crawling all over the attic. When the kids use the board game, the animals come out and some of their appearances are quite freaky.
  • When the game starts near the beginning of the movie, young Alan is slowly sucked into the game (using CGI, of course). The appearance of him screaming and slithering into the game is quite frightening, and scary music plays at the same time. Right after this, young Sarah screams and runs out of the house in terror as dozens of bats begin chirping loudly and emerge from the fireplace.
  • Alan drives a police car through a grocery store, destroying it in the process. Some people are almost run over and presumably killed, but manage to escape from the oncoming vehicle. Eventually, an entire shelf of paint cans falls on Van Pelt (this is played for comedic effect).

Spoilers

The Parents Guide items below may give away important plot points.

Sex & Nudity

  • Alan and Sarah begin their relationship after they are transported back to 1969 after finishing the game where it began then, and when they throw the game into the river. They are 12 and 13 (almost 14) respectively from this period of time, but the latter doesn't become pregnant until the Christmas party 26 years later in the restored timeline.

Violence & Gore

  • A monkey sneaks into Aunt Nora's car and distracts her while she's driving, causing her to go down into a ditch, presumably totaling her car. However, she makes it out of her car unharmed.
  • Van Pelt fires a bullet at Alan and Sarah (the latter whom steps in to save Alan), but the bullet stops before it strikes either of the two and retracts back to the hunter's rifle at the start of the effect of returning everything released from the game.
  • Carl Bentley's police car is swallowed by a giant flower from the game before Aunt Nora has a chance to catch a ride back to the Parrish mansion due to the loss of her car from the prior event.
  • A man in the hardware store in the toy section is almost run over and presumably killed by Alan driving the police car.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Near the end loads of spiders invade the attic. Not only are they big but Alan and Sarah are stuck in quicksand making them easy victims.
  • Alan is nearly eaten by a Crocodile
  • The Movie is very scary since it includes bats, Mosquitoes, Monkeys, a lion, Deadly plants, a hunter, a Stampede, Crocodile, Quicksand, Giant Spiders and a earthquake.
  • In the final scene, a couple girls on the beach hear the sound of drums coming from the same board game that's half-buried in the sand. The camera cuts off before any indication that they find it and start playing it.
  • The mansion splits apart into two and a crevice on the land is formed during the earthquake. It is later back to its original state after the game is finished and the effects and time have been undone.
  • Judy is killed near the end by a poisonous flower, but is alive again in Christmas 1995 after time has been reset from the game being finished.
