If you’re part of the MCU fandom, no matter which “side” you’re on, chances are you noticed that most shows and live-action movies in one way or another focus on female superheroes. It’s part of the new progressive and inclusive strategy that aims to open up the exciting world of superheroes to more than just one demographic.
The success of that strategy remains dubious for now, as plenty of backlash is generated overall. The most recent example of that is ‘The Marvels,’ the lowest-grossing MCU movie so far.
But before ‘The Marvels’ there was ‘She-Hulk’ live-action TV show that introduced Bruce Banner’s cousin to the MCU. Strangely, the show was largely praised by the critics but totally panned by fans, which led even its main star Tatiana Maslany to comment on how the chances of the show getting a sequel were slim.

Elvis Presley acted in 31 films in his career, portraying many different characters and singing many different songs for the soundtracks. The characters in these films varied greatly — in his debut film, Love Me Tender, he played the younger brother of a Confederate soldier and in Fun in Acapulco, he played a lifeguard with a fear of heights. Clearly, these characters are different from each other and Elvis’ real self. According to Elvis’ longtime bodyguard, many of Elvis’ characters shared a common trait that Elvis himself did not have.
Elvis differed from his movie characters in a surprising way
A number of Elvis’ movies take place beachside. His characters like to surf and swim, something his friends said he wasn’t all that comfortable doing in real life. According to his longtime bodyguard and friend, Red West, Elvis hardly even used the swimming pool at Graceland.

“Saltburn,” “Oppenheimer” and “Poor Things” were among the winners at the 28th Annual Art Director’s Guild Awards which took place in Hollywood on Saturday evening.
Hosted by Max Greenfield, the Adg Awards celebrated outstanding production design in theatrical motion pictures, television, commercials, animated features and music videos.
“Poor Things” production designers Shona Heath and James Price drew visual references ranging from the paintings of French futurist Albert Robida to Francis Ford Coppola’s “Dracula” to build Yorgos Lanthimos’ extraordinary sets.
In “Oppenheimer,” Ruth De Jong built Los Alamos from the ground up. But her most challenging task came when she had to build the Oval Office for the film’s third act. Working with supervising art director, Samantha Englander, the two had floated the idea of finding a pre-existing build of the Oval Office. They looked no further than HBO’s beloved political satire “Veep.” Not only was “Veep...

You know the saying: "It's all fun and games until someone gets hurt." It's something parents used to tell us when we were kids and roughhoused too hard, but in the context of the upcoming horror thriller "All Fun and Games," the adage sounds more like a promise than a warning. The film follows a group of teens whose night of fun turns very high stakes when a demon gets involved, forcing them to play life-or-death versions of the kids' games that many of us love. Fan-favorite actors like Natalia Dyer and Asa Butterfield are among the cast, and the Russo brothers' production company is on board.
In a press release, Vertical Partner Peter Jarowey called the movie "a gripping debut film based on a high concept idea that caught, and held, our attention immediately." There's no trailer or "All Fun and Games" yet, but the movie does have a...

Garth Brooks isn’t backing down from any backlash to his announcement that his new Nashville bar will be carrying Bud Light despite an ongoing boycott of the brand by many conservatives. During his weekly Facebook livestream, Inside Studio G, the country superstar doubled down on his message of inclusiveness.

Brooks continued, “Everybody’s got their opinions. But inclusiveness is always going to be me. I think diversity is the answer to the problems that are here and the problems that are coming. So I love diversity. All-inclusive, so all are welcome. I understand that that might not be other people’s opinions, but that’s okay,...

Garth Brooks and Blake Shelton take the literal approach to the video for their duet “Dive Bar,” adding a dash of undersea whimsy to the rowdy country-rock number. The song, from Brooks’ upcoming album Fun, was originally released in June and the two singers performed it live at Brooks’ July 19th. stadium show in Boise, Idaho.
Underwater bubbling noises precede any trace of music in the “Dive Bar” clip, and suddenly a group of musicians floats into view in full scuba gear, as if swimming to their respective instruments. Brooks...

Kesha has released the lead single from her recently announced new project High Road. The raucous party song is titled “Raising Hell,” and features the vocals and New Orleans bounce-influenced beat of Big Freedia.
Kesha layers her folksier roots over the track, creating a club-ready song that nonetheless harks back to her guitar-based production on 2017’s Rainbow.
“Raising Hell” also arrives with a Luke Gilford-directed video, portraying Kesha as a televangelist leading a party-loving congregation. The clip takes a dark turn about midway through, after which Kesha takes her life into her own hands,...

Teenage breakout Billie Eilish has been the star of our Grammy odds ever since we opened our Album of the Year predictions in the spring. Now she’s the front-runner to win all four general field categories according to the combined predictions of our users. The only artist who has ever done that before in the same year was Christopher Cross in 1981. But since Eilish is such big news, it could be easy to overlook that Lizzo is likely to be nominated in the same four categories. If that happens, it would be the first time in Grammy history that two artists have achieved the nominations grand slam at the same time.
Eilish is on top of our odds for Album of the Year, Record and Song of the Year (“Bad Guy”) and Best New Artist. But hip-hop star Lizzo isn’t far behind. She ranks fourth for Album (“Cuz...

When Lana Del Rey dated the release of her latest album “Norman Fucking Rockwell!” for Friday, August 30, one day before the 2020 Grammy Awards eligibility cutoff, the idea that she might receive her first ever Album of the Year nomination for it still seemed like wishful thinking. After all, the initial singles from the project – “Mariners Apartment Complex” and “Venice Bitch” – were released a full year ago in September 2018 and only found recognition stateside as mid-tier performers on the Billboard digital charts.
The best performing song was “Doin’ Time,” a cover of the 1997 Sublime track, which peaked at number-four on the Bubbling Under Hot 100 chart on June 1, 2019 and was given a video treatment only one day before the album dropped. But that video in only one weekend amassed 8.4 million views on YouTube. Compare that to the views of “Venice Bitch,” released a year ago, which stands at 9.1 million. By that small stat alone,...

The Grammys love solo women in the race for Best New Artist, but R&B women have gotten short shrift so far in the 21st century. No R&B female artist has won the category since Alicia Keys in 2002 — that was 17 years ago. But that drought could end this year thanks to H.E.R., who exceeded our expectations with five total nominations and now could be one of the biggest winners of the year.
H.E.R. was on the bubble in our Grammy nomination predictions for Best New Artist; we ranked her ninth, which would have put her just out of contention. But not only did she get that nomination, she also came out of nowhere with a bid for Album of the Year for her self-titled compilation. And she has three other nominations in genre categories: Best R&B Performance (“Best Part”), Best R&B Song (“Focus”) and Best R&B Album (“H.

It's the unsolved mystery that’s continued to make headlines for over 35 years: What really happened to Natalie Wood? The death of the dark-eyed Hollywood beauty stunned fans around the globe, and nagging questions remain about how Natalie met her end in a watery grave on Thanksgiving weekend in 1981. Now, for the first time, the real story behind the film icon’s life and times in Hollywood is being told in Fatal Voyage: The Mysterious Death of Natalie Wood. The fascinating 12-part podcast series will launch on July 20 – the day that the doomed star would have celebrated her 80th birthday. In a blistering new disclosure in episode one, Ralph Hernandez, a homicide detective for the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, reveals bruises found on Natalie were consistent with her being the "victim of assault" — not, as the original 1981 report concluded, caused by her struggling to climb back aboard to yacht after falling over the side.

Four years after the release of her most recent album “I Never Learn,” Swedish songstress Lykke Li dropped two new songs, “Deep End” and “Hard Rain.” The songs are the first tracks to emerge from her long-percolating fourth album “So Sad So Sexy”. The album is due on June 8 on RCA Records — Li’s first release with the label.
“Hard Rain,” which is being promoted as the single, was produced by 2016 Grammy producer of the year Jeff Bhasker, Malay and T-Minus. “Hard Rain” was produced by Vampire Weekend’s Rostam Batmanglij.
The songs mark a stylistic departure for the singer, incorporating elements of the Swedish-pop sound of her previous albums with a more hip-hop/alt-r&B-leaning production.
A rather confusing line in the press release announcing the songs reads “Prior to recording this album, Lykke was busy nurturing liv, her love-child with Andrew Wyatt, Björn Yttling, Pontus Winnberg and Jeff Bhasker,...

Ahead of the release of The Single Moms Club, a film written, directed, produced by and starring Tyler Perry, we thought it was worthwhile looking back on all the Tyler Perry Productions (Tpp) that came before it. In total, Perry has produced 16 films (including Smc) from the ongoing Madea franchise to stand-alones, such as Temptation and Why Did I Get Married? All of the films have been met with varying degrees of praise and success. But who has actually sat down and watched all of them? Inspired by that question, I decided to review all of Perry’s film in order to grade and rank each film.

"Those Guys Have All the Fun," the history of Espn co-written by James Andrew Miller and Tom Shales, is on its way to becoming a movie.
Deadline reports that 20th Century Fox has picked up film rights to the book, a warts-and-all chronicle of the cable network's founding, rise and current behemoth status in sports and pop culture. The project is a long way from the casting stage -- the studio hasn't even hired a screenwriter yet -- but we thought we'd help get things started with a few suggestions of our own.
We get that the movie will likely focus on the off-camera drama at Espn, and we'll leave the casting of those roles to the professionals. But we have a few thoughts on who can play some of Espn's on-air talent.
Chris Berman: One of two original Espn anchors still with the network, Berman is a larger-than-life figure there.
