This show, that was lead by Kate Mulgrew was an awesome show. Unfortunately it never really found an audience on ABC. As a matter of fact I never knew it existed until Lifetime started running it in the late 80's/early 90's. There's a multitude of reasons this show was great but mostly the writing was edgy, many moments of humor, and Gail Strickland portrayed possibly the most awesome lesbian in prime time. My favorite scene from the show is takes place between Laura Johnson's Dr. Eve Calvert who has locked her keys in her car and Kate Mulgrew's Dr. JoAnn Halloran who has just had a not so great appointment with a friend of Eve's who is a prostitute. Joann is expressing concern over the fact that Eve's friend is wanting to have an abortion after having several in a short time. JoAnn grabs the coat hanger from Eve and while trying to open the door says "She talked about it like she was ordering fast food, I'll have fries, a shake, an abortion-hold the pickles." I hope this comes out on DVD soon, so that others can see how truly great this show was.
