Sheelagh becomes anxious when she is unable to contact Lance hours before his marriage ceremony. Steve tries to find out if anyone knows where Lance went when he left his stag do, but anxiety turns to fear when the CCTV which he pulls from the pub shows Lance being kidnapped and bundled into the back of a van. Unaware that his so-called 'friends' are behind the vicious attack, determined to 'cure' him of his homosexuality, Roger is blind to the fact Lance is in the next room when he is plugging his friend for information. Meanwhile, Terry discovers his brother Ben's new address, and tries to convince Ben's wife Lucy of his suspicions that Ben has been abusing his nephews.

Roger and Steve arrest a drink driver caught at the wheel of his car, only to discover that he is one of Jack's former prisoners who absconded from police custody two years previously. Whilst in custody, the suspect is taken ill with a possible virus and sent to St. Hugh's. Yvonne fails to take the advice of the relief and manages to cause a riot when a minor protest outside the hospital escalates. As Steve is drafted in to help calm the rioters, Roger is unexpectedly overcome by the suspect's son, who arrives armed in an attempt to break his father out of police custody. Honey arrives in the nick of time to prevent an escape, but finds herself being held at gunpoint by the boy's brother.

Neil and Jack arrive at Sgt. Hugh's to speak to suspect Roland O'Brien, only to walk right into the middle of a hostage situation - finding themselves being tied up in the boiler room by O'Brien's deranged son. Adam arrives to take charge of the situation, and assigns Jo to be the negotiator in the absence of the hostage negotiation team. Jo attempts to use O'Brien's ex-girlfriend, who is now carrying his baby, in an attempt to secure Roger's safety. Meanwhile, Steve sees red and rescues Honey from the clutches of O'Brien's other son, wrestling him to the floor. When Roger attempts to obtain medical help for Roland, he gets into a tussle with his son, and the gun fires, injuring the boy.

Smithy is assigned to puppy walk two new PSCOs assigned to the station - Colin Fairfax and Gabriel's arch-nemesis, Laura Bryant. The trio investigate when a group of local youths vandalize lifts in a local tower block, and then attack the property of a local resident. However, an illegal search conducted by Laura proves to be an issue in securing a conviction. Meanwhile, Jim is assigned as SIO on the case of Karen Burnett, who has disappeared without trace on her way home from work. Honey is assigned as Family Liaison Officer, and speaks to the victim's husband, Scott, who is concerned for her welfare. Sam is outraged when Abi announces that she is marrying abductor Hugh.

Sam and Abi hideaway in Peter Baxter's empty flat in an attempt to stay out of Hugh's clutches. However, back at the station, Jack's lack of support for Sam grows stronger when Hugh claims that Sam has abducted her own daughter. When Phil realizes that Sam's suspicions have been true all along, he confronts Hugh but finds himself the recipient of a formal complaint. Sam desperately tries to make Abi realize she has been brainwashed, but Hugh continues to try and win her over. Meanwhile, Terry and Jim interview one of Karen Burnett's friends, and in a search of waste ground near to his place of work, she is found dead having been the victim of a violent assault.

However, when Suzie organizes a raid on the home of known pimp Julian Hargreaves, she fails to uncover any proof of his involvement. Meanwhile, Ramani interviews Abi over her accusations against Hugh and a search of a previously undiscovered flat belonging to Hugh reveals vital evidence to prove his involvement, and suspect Greg Campbell is charged with the murder of Karen Burnett.

Phil and Ken catch Gary in the spa after Louisa does a runner with the laundered money. Andrea is in danger. June rejects Jim's advances. Jo catches Gary out regarding the scam.

Andrea tells Smithy she will have the evidence by tomorrow. Andra begs Neil to give her one more day on the job. Bruce lands Andrea in it with Meadows and Okaro.

Gabriel stands over a trapped Andrea as part of the station burns. Okaro tries to coordinate the evacuation. Smithy lies trapped under a beam. June , Tony and Leela have do deal with the prisoners. Gabriel pulls Smithy free but leaves Andrea screaming for help. Reg waits for Marilyn at the train station not knowing she was caught in the blast. Ramini helps a panicked Margaret Barnes down the Fire stairs. Gabriel starts to panic. Two of the prisoners escape. The team find out Ken was in the back of the van when it blew up. Reg rushes to the hospital. Jim catches the prisoners but over steps the mark when one of them mocks Ken's death. June struggles in the aftermath. Tony tells Jim off. Neil in breaks-down when Gina confirms Andrea was found dead in the building. Okaro briefs the relief. Gabriel stands emotionless.

Gary's ego is in overdrive when leading the operation and talks down to the PCs. Scott losses it in front of Honey. Gary's humiliated when the operation fails. Lance finds a way to get through to the kids on the estate by using cricket.

Kennedy stirs Sam up about the mistake and plans to sue for harassment. Ramini tells Margaret off again about interfering in her life. Gina opens up to Smithy. Ramini's ex Brian turns up stressed saying someone called him claiming Ramini has been killed. Roger goes undercover.

Lance's suspicions that rival Adi Mateen is responsible for the shooting finds him entering a murky world of rival dealing. Laura manages to identify a young girl spotted running away from the scene, and the prime suspect is soon identified as dealer Carlton Gayle. Meanwhile, Sam and Terry are on the trail of Alan Kennedy when he claims to have kidnapped one of his former victims. However, Sam soon realizes that Kennedy has set a trap for her. Ramani deals with a woman who has been savagely beaten by her husband, but is upset when the woman's witness statement disappears.

Manson is assaulted when chasing an intruder on his property. Neil then finds a bug in his alarm system. Philippa is concerned and wants to report it to the police. Mickey tells Jack they are monitoring Manson for suspected interference with a money laundering case. Manson is seen with a case witness called Julie. Phil gets shot at tailing kidnappers who throw Julie out of the van in front of Phil's car. Jack is under pressure from the National Crime Squad who suspect Manson is leaking information. Neil tries to get some inside support from Suzie. The NCS raid Neil's home and find evidence to take take him and Philippa into Barton Street for questioning. Neil goes to meet an informant to find out who the leak is but it's a trap. Jack and Phil track Neil down. They find him with a dead body and bloodied hands just as the NCS turn up.

Manson is taken in for questioning and pleads his innocence stating a set up. Neil tells Jack that the leak lies with someone in the NCS. Suzie tries to get information out of Mickey but he's not forthcoming. Jack does his own digging and goes to see McGowan. Neil goes over the head of NCS by making a claim of corruption to the Director of Professional Standards. Neil's transport is ambushed by the McGowan's but Jack's team manages to stop it. The team are worried that Mickey could be the leak. Mickey is upset when Jack confronts him then plays some tapes which confirm who the corrupt officer is. Mickey needs to now put his emotions aside to catch them.

Smithy is annoyed with Gina for not telling Okaro about her cancer diagnosis. Margaret is hysterical when she losses her job and blames Ramini. Sam and Terry deal with a case of internet fraud. Ramini tries to get Margaret's job back. PC Dan Casper try's to help a depressed man called Justin. Terry and Sam get trapped in a room full of deadly snakes. It's panic stations for Ramini when Justin is confirmed suicidal and goes missing from the hospital. After a telling off from Okaro the last thing Ramini needs is Margaret Barnes confronting her on the stairs but then Margaret falls.

Honey admits to Yvonne she's been concerned since she found a locker key belonging to Scott. When Yvonne looks in the locker she finds a bloody glove but doesn't tell Honey. Lance finds out the operation is compromised and tries to warn Manson.

DC Zain Nadir reports in for a debrief on Operation Mercury with Okaro and Meadows. Yvonne's situation becomes serious when advised Lee Thomas has died. Zain is angry that his cover was blown by Lance and feels frustrated to be asked to continue his work via CID. Honey meets with Gina and asks to be reinstated while Yvonne is suspended pending the inquest.. Zain gets introduced to the team. Tony feels bad for Yvonne and frustrated when a routine arrest has some citizens complaining about police brutality. Honey visits Scott in prison telling her to forget about him. Zain hits the ground running with some early arrests but needs Terry's help to find a secret warehouse. Manson is not sold on DC Nadir's plan to get into the warehouse. A man claims PC Kapoor assaulted him when being arrested and wants compensation. Things are strained between Gina and Adam. Gina has to deliver bad news to Honey so asks Yvonne to check in her. Zain manages to capture a key person Leon Walsh the operation. Zain gets a death threat and Tony is severely beaten.

Lance gets cornered by Armstrong. June has a tense meeting with Okaro. Armstrong holds Zain and Lance hostage. Dan gets an a threatening letter to expose his affair with a married woman. June Ackland tells Adam Okaro that the relief are on strike unless he can support their concerns.
