Mumbai, April 5: David Dhawan's "Chashme Buddoor" remake released Friday alongside the digitally restored version of the original, but the filmmaker is unfazed by the competition. He believes the simultaneous release would create curiosity among the audiences.
"It's a good thing. Enjoy it in a good spirit, it's a new thing. It's like a director's special and has been released that way, not a big release so it's Ok. At least it will create curiosity among the public. Publicity helps in the long run," the 52-year-old said here Thursday at the premiere of his film.
It is said that for the first time, the restored version of an original film has released with its remake.

Possibly the first time in the history of Indian Cinema, a digitally restored version of the cult classic “Chashme Buddoor” released in 1981 will hit the screens on April 5th, the same day as its modern-day remake opens in cinemas.
More than three decades after it was first released, Sai Paranjpe’s classic comedy “Chashme Buddoor” starring Farooque Shaikh, Rakesh Bedi, Ravi Baswani and Deepti Naval, is being re-released under the PVR Directors Rare Banner. While the 2013 David Dhawan directed remake starring Ali Zafar, Tapsee Pannu, Sidharth and Divyendu has the elements and soul of its original, in an earlier interview, Ali Zafar said the latter has been tailored to suit today’s audiences.
Shiladitya Bora, head of Director’s Rare, the alternative programming wing of the PVR multiplex chain says, ”Earlier we had decided to release it one week ahead and then decided to do it on the same day...

New Delhi, April 1: In 100 years of Indian cinema, this seems to be a first - a digitally restored version of the original 1981 film "Chashme Buddoor" will hit the screens Friday, along with its remake, David Dhawan-directed "Chashme Baddoor".
The old version, which starred Farooque Shaikh, Rakesh Bedi, Ravi Baswani and Deepti Naval, was directed by Sai Paranjpye, and is being brought back by PVR Director's Rare. Even after over three decades of its release, it is still the moviegoers' favourite classic comedy.
But the buzz is also quite strong for its new version, which features Ali Zafar, Siddharth, Taapsee Pannu and Divyendu.

New Delhi, Feb 20: Moving away from the boy-meets-girl, falls-in-love formula, filmmakers are increasingly exploring the world of male bonding -- the forthcoming "Kai Po Che!", "Grand Masti" and "Chashme Buddoor" are only the recent cases in point.
From "Sholay" and "Dil Chahta Hai" to "3 Idiots" and "Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara", male bonding, or 'bromance' as it has come to be known, has appealed to people of all age groups.
Filmmaker Subhash Kapoor, who has juxtaposed comic stars Arshad Warsi and Boman Irani in "Jolly L.L.B.", says it's the effect of more young blood in the industry.
