Spoof Western movie co-produced by Italy/Spain and mostly shot in Madrid surroundings
ma-cortes9 September 2022
An early comical Spaghetti/Paella Western filmed in Spain. One of the early examples of the so-called Spaghetti/Paella Western sub-genre , this Comedy Western starring two famous Italian comedians playing two couples of brothers in opposing roles. Most comedy situations in this film based on the fact that the four leads are look alikes which ; however , being boring and tiring , at times . This is a pretty amusing entry on Walter Chiari and Raimondo Vianello series imitating the Italian couple Franco and Ciccio , containing slapstick , slapdash , simple humor and lots of entertainment and fun ; both of whom played various films parodying all kinds of genres . It deals with two couple of brothers , all of them overacting by means of extreme mimic gesticulation . Concerning two pairs of twins survive an Indian raid on a caravan. While one of the couples will be raised by an army captain and become two successful journalists and publishers , the others will be raised by a bandit called Makenzie (Alfonso Rojas) in a wheelchair who has a criminal organization called Killer Corporation , as his sons are two botcher , inept hired killers . The two journalist brothers living in Placid City are in love with two beautiful girls, Fanny (Diana Lorys) and Betty (Marta May) . Meanwhile , the Saloon owner (Miguel del Castillo) wants to murder the two reporters and hires Makenzie to eliminate them , the latter assigns his two idiot sons to the criminal mission . But things go wrong , that's why the two couples of twins find at Silver city while happening confusion of personalities , messes , mayhem , silly doppelganger and constantly fighting among themselves.

Average Pasta/Chorizo Western produced by Spain/Italy with usual ingredients as shootouts , fights but with no blood , neither violence , but hilarious confrontation and lots of humor with tongue in cheek . The film is a Walter Chiari-Raimondo Vianello recital , in the wake of Franco Franchi-Ciccio Ingrassia , as they make jokes , acrobatics , stooges, tongue twister and put faces and grimaces . They give diversion and entertainment enough , although they do not provide a humor as excessive as Franco and Ciccio . Lots of gags and sketches , some of them funny but in the movie lacks a real freshness , including grotesque situations and above all , it especially contains catching touches of humor and irony . Sitting in a strange middle ground between the completely absurd and the stylishly enjoyable . There are some nice jokes in the film and the cast , playing eccentric characters , make a cosy fit Parody movie with a myriad of silly , non-sense and unimaginative gags , though it has its good moments here and there .This is a disconcerting and amusing farce with the master comedy actors and it displays a lot ofdisconcerting confusion , antics , frolics , fights , punches , uproar choreography and hilarious set pieces . Picture is a Walter Chiari-Raimondo Vianello vehicle , and they are authentic comedians and real farceurs . If you like their crazy interpretation , you will most definitely enjoy this one . It is a Spanish/Italian co-production , that's why here appears several Spanish players , many of them regular in Chorizo/Pasta Western , such as : Alfonso Rojas , Miguel del Castillo , Tito Garcia , Guillermo Méndez , Umberto Raho , among others. And two very beautiful Eurotrash starlets : Diana Lorys and Marta May.

This diverting motion picture was regularly directed by Steno, Stefano Vanzina , (father of Carlo Vanzina) , though it has some unbelievably unfunny , dull and uninspired moments . Being shot in Manzanares Del Real , and Colmenar Viejo , Madrid , Spain . Steno was a prolific writer and director , as he wrote and directed in the 60s Toto vehicles : Toto vs the four, Two colonels ; Walter Chiari and Raimondo Vianello shows : Heroes of the West , Twins from Texas . In the 70s and 80s directed Bud Spencer movies about Flatfoot or Rizzo, also called Piedone, such as : Flatfoot in Hong Kong, Flatfoot in Egypt and Banana Joe , among others. And in the 80s directed TV series , the Professore Jack Clementi, again with Bud Spencer. Rating : 4.5/10 , it can be interesting only for somebody interested in the humorous roots of Spaghetti/Paella Western genre. A very mediocre ironical Western , only for hardcore Spaghetti aficionados and completists.
