The Last Tree on Earth is a short, silent, black and white sci-fi movie. Planet earth has been exhausted and almost everyone has relocated to the moon. Our hero (Simon Day, BBC's The Fast Show) is a bored ATM operator, dispensing cash to the few remaining inhabitants. Topically, he lives in isolation and invisible to the outside world. He falls for a mystery girl (Natalie Walter, RSC/BBC) and dreams of a life shared with her. The story is about hope and is a cross between Metropolis, Brazil and Chaplin's Modern Times.
