An impressive cast that's wasted in a juvenile fantasy that goes off in more directions than a Car Sat Nav .
The difference between this silly script by Jason Fuchs and a Car Sat Nav is usually the Sat Nav gets us to a destination.
The story I think is supposed to be an amusing parody on Spy movies we meet Elly Howard played by Bryce Dallas Howard a successful spy crime author who for some unknown reason enters the fantasy world she has created with her cat Alfie.
Her fictional world of espionage and conspiracy soon introduces us to her fantasy characters as Ellie begins to unravel mentally as most who manage get through this 2 hour 20 minute including myself also will by the time we reach the noisy ridiculous conclusion which sort of suggests a sequel ,please no no no ! Spare us .
I'm not surprised Argylle is a box office bomb for me it was a total waste of time.
I'm reminded of a much funnier movie title made over 60 years ago It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World .
I mentioned the impressive ensemble cast that includes Sam Rockwell, Bryan Cranston, Catherine Howard , Henry Cavill, Ariana De Bose and Samuel L Jackson .
My one question I'd ask any of them is did they read the script?
Comedy crime thrillers can work remember The Pink Panther, Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb , Casino Royale the parody version of 1967 I suggest Jason Fuchs take a look at these.
Most movies even bad ones I get something out of but sorry Argylle is not one of them.
