Review of One Day

One Day (2024)
2/10
had a lot of potential but casting is disappointing

Although Leo Woodall is superb in this, the characters lack the chemistry that is so evident in the film version from the first seconds. Ambika unfortunately does not fit the role of Emma, portraying more of a comedic character. Even though Leo's great acting, his character Dedter in the film as well as the book has more of a rebellious, charismatic side to him from the get go that I couldn't see in the series. I thoroughly enjoyed the cinematography in the film however felt the series version to lack the same depth the film had. Although I love the story itself it was difficult to watch without loving the main character Emma and without rooting for the relationship as much as I had rooted for the characters in the film and the book. These characters didn't make sense and felt like Emma was almost mocking Dexter throughout the majority of the film.
