Sure, I had never heard about this 2023 horror comedy titled "DD Returns" prior to sitting down and watching it here in 2024. So I didn't know what I was in for, but I have to admit that I wasn't exactly harboring much of any grand expectations to the movie, but I still opted to give it a fair chance.
I managed to endure a staggering 22 minutes out of the 124 minutes that the movie ran for, and then I just gave up out of sheer and utter boredom and a general lack in the atrocity that substitutes a storyline. Writer and director S. Prem Anand was just all over the place, but at the same time managing to be nowhere at all. And that made "DD Returns" a horrible viewing experience.
Needless to say that with my limited exposure to the Indian cinema, then I wasn't familiar with a single actor or actress on the cast list. And in the 22 minutes that I suffered through, I didn't see anything outstanding or memorable on the screen from the actors and actresses.
I couldn't tell the characters apart, as they had no distinct personalities or were given any particular traits to make them distinguishable from one another. And when they broke out into a spontaneous song and dance routine, then I just called it quits.
This was definitely not my cup of tea, and it is not a movie that I will ever return to watch a second time. Nor is it a movie that I would recommend fans of the horror comedy genre to waste their time, money or effort on.
