They replaced Pete who is the main character in the book with Richie. Mitch is alive in the book but died in the Film. How we are first introduced to Kelly is vastly different from the book. We do not see the Octoberboy driving. Dan commits suicide in the book due to his grief he doesn't do that in the film And the ending is so bad it drastically is different from the book. In the Book the Octoberboy makes it past midnight and the whole town goes ablaze. In my honest opinion it can be a fun Halloween movie to watch only if you don't read the book. If you read the book you will be vastly disappointed in this adaption.
