You hardly find out about anything
20 September 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Regardless of the fact that the sound quality has indeed not been preserved well, in reality, I hardly found out about what was happening in the movie, a sign that it's not a film that engages the viewer or creates anticipation. The problem with this movie is that it lacks anticipation; it doesn't build the atmosphere of anticipation required to pay attention to what's happening in the movie at all times, and of course, that means you hardly find out about anything. Since the pace is slow, that doesn't work in its favor either.

On the other hand, another jarring thing is that instead of telling the story through visuals, direction, and the script, they tell you things that could be conveyed through the visual storytelling that any normal movie has, and that you could take advantage of through images, with a character who narrates the story, and of course, that means missed opportunities.

In the end, it's a movie with uninteresting dialogues, a way of telling the story that lacks interest, and even a part of the story is uninteresting as well. You can't expect much from this kind of movie, so it can't be said that it's bad; it's simply a mediocre movie from the forties, and it just so happens that all the mediocre ones from that era had the same issue.

The only thing that might catch your attention is the beauty of the animals, the movie's cinematography, costumes, makeup, sets, and to some extent, the music as well. But it's still a mediocre and outdated movie from that era; it's not going to entertain today's generations.

Finally, Mowgli practically takes out Sheer Khan right at the beginning, and what follows is something that has absolutely no interest, which is some men who believe that Mowgli is a sorcerer.
