Other reviewers have compared this with Dopesick which unfortunately I haven't seen. This was ok-ish. At least it held my attention to watch the whole series, but all the time I was thinking it could have been so much better.
Most annoying was the device of using up a huge amount of time on tiny repetitive flashbacks. Occasionally they were helpful but mostly seemed to be a device to try and artificially inject tension into the script.
There was some dramatic tension, but also a lot of rather grossly unrealistic scenes. The core dramatic threads were quite thin and unconvincing.
Having written that I'm almost tempted to conclude on a 5 rating but given the worthy message of the show I'll be generous.
Netflix will need to seriously clean up their act to keep me subscribing.
