I can't say enough.good things about this animated film. Although the general description of a feature length animated film with no dialogue, about a man marooned on an island and his interactions with a giant red turtle at first seem odd, nevertheless this is definitely worth watching. After several tries to see the entire movie on cable, I was finally able to see it from beginning to end in one viewing. Then everything made sense.
What particularly is.so beautiful is the sparse animation which focuses you on the relevant action and emotions. The animators have captured the fluidity and grace of movement of the humans and animals depicted. Obviously they studied how things move and how to show that with a minimum of pen strokes. If it had been live action, I don't think there would be so powerful an impact from so little motion. They must have posted a banner in the studio that said "Less Is More".
