Trying not to nitpick, however...
29 June 2023
My girlfriend and I picked this movie at random as we do every weekend and I have to say it wasn't bad. Most modern horror movies seem to fall into one of two categories: low budget trash or gore-fest. This was a welcomed departure from the norm. I appreciated the attempts at symbolism despite the movie seeming to think that they where too deep to be caught and needed to be explained. They weren't. I actually liked that the movie got right into the plot instead of waterboarding the audience with backstory regarding the main characters decision to take drastic measures to achieve her goals. I would rather fill in the holes myself in exchange for a reasonable runtime. I really liked the cinematography and the trick with the color, I won't ruin it, the movie will do that for you all on its own. The ending is open to interpretation without seeming lazy. Finally, the acting was really good from almost everyone. Even the supporting cast seemed extremely invested in their roles and added depth to the atmosphere the movie creates. I have my little nitpicks but that's all they are. Overall, an enjoyable, sometimes uncomfortable flick thar gave me anxiety when it tried and subverted my expectations more then once. Wouldn't watch again but I am glad I watched it once. Good date movie.
