Review of Blood

Blood (IV) (2022)
5/10
Meh! Slow and illogical, could have been so much more!

Warning: Spoilers
Only just a 5. The idea is sound, as is the acting etc. But it just doesn't make sense.

If the kid was craving blood when he was in hospital, why on earth would the mother, a nurse, try and immediately hide it, and set about trying to feed his 'addiction' to it? Surely any normal person would would say "Hey, look, he drank blood and he's getting better, let's figure out what's going on and cure him....."

So, assuming she ignores the logical thing to do and takes him home, just like in the film... What's the best way to get blood? Yup ok, she can steal some from the hospital, but once that's a no no because they've found out, surely the next logical step would be go to a butcher or slaughter house and get pigs blood. No doubt you could buy it by the bucket load there, and if the kid really would only end up drinking warm blood, well go and buy a pig or three and slaughter them as needed!! Maybe I'm over simplifying it, because clearly the most logical step was to kidnap someone and periodically drain them (rolls eyes!)

Ignoring all the illogical story throughout, then what you're left with is a film which doesn't really do much for the first hour or so. At 1hr45 it seemed extremely long. Had they worked more of the story along the lines of 'why' the dog bite caused his vampire'ism and just kept him in hospital feeding his addiction while the mum investigated exactly what was going on with the tree, then I think it could have been a gripping story and much more worthwhile film.

Shame, it had promise, but lost its way in the first 15 minutes.
