The Tailor (2023)
7/10
I had low expectations...

Warning: Spoilers
The description made the series seem very flat and boring. However, I gave it a shot. Now after finishing it, I have to say, that it really was unexpectetly good!

I know, the plot is not that original and does not make sense sometimes, but not every series hast to be a complete masterpiece. Thats why I would never rate this a 10/10, but anything below a 5 seems rather unfair.

I really liked the dynamic between the protagonist and the antagonist.

(I will now talk about the plot, so there will be Spoilers)

The fact, that Dimitri and Peyami are friends through the whole series makes it so much more interesting! Like, in the end you might think, that their friendship is completely lost, but when Peyami is shot, Dimitri instantly realizes what he has been doing and tries to help his friend.

I also like the fact, that Dimitri is not a typical antagonist. First, there is of course the fact, that he and Peyami are best friends (no "friends to enemies" trope, they really stay friends) and he often reveals some humanity. Of course he stays an asshole, but sometimes he reveals his sorrow to Peyami or just randomly adopts a dog and talks to him. That prevents him from being a boring and one-dimensional character.

Moreover, the inner conflict Peyami has with his father is amazing. You can really understand why he has issues with their relationship, for all his life he has been told that his father was crazy and he was taught to feel ashamed for him.

However, the main plot, the romance, did not really catch me. In comparison to All the other relationships, the one between Peyami and Esvet was kinda boring.
