Not to my tastes, I'm afraid!

I admit to not being the world's biggest fan of Spike Milligan ( his appearances on 'Till Death Us Do Part' and 'Curry & Chips' excepted ) and this show was not one I found easy to get into at all. The 'Q' shows, written by Milligan in collaboration with Neil Shand was a collaboration of bizzare, illogical and sometimes tasteless sketches. That itself was not the issue, it simply was that I found the style of comedy particularly unamusing.

The 'Monty Python' team admit to drawing inspiration from the 'Q' shows. Even Rik Mayall admitted that he intended 'The Young Ones' as a homage to Spike's show. Not that Spike was impressed, who later cruelly described Rik and 'putrid' and 'vile'. ''He thinks nose picking and farting is funny. He is the a***hole of British comedy!'' were his exact words. True, Rik's style of comedy could be crude and offensive but Spike's style - often including degrading and racist material - was not much better. Rather hypocritical methinks!

Recently, some people ( whose names I will not mention ) have been picking holes in my reviews because they don't agree with what I say. I am tired of having to point out that these reviews are based on my opinions which I am more than entitled to express ( despite what the woke brigade say ). I appreciate that people will not always agree with my views but what I do not appreciate is the childish trolling that accompanies it. If you don't like or agree with my reviews, don't read them, simple!
