Wrecker (2022)
4/10
So bad it almost turns good. Almost.

As I write this, there are only two reviews here - rating with a 1 and a 10. I hope this will provide the satisfying balance that Goldilocks was seeking.

Some hulking dude named Bryan Brooks decided to write and direct a showcase for his physique, albeit not for his thespian, uh, gifts. When shirtless, he makes guys like The Rock look wimpy. The story has shades of Batman (especially the grief-driven vigilante shtick) and elements from tons of other cheapo action flicks. Big secret evil conspiracy. Drugs that turn addicts into monsters. Punishing the scumbags the law can't stop. Think Dexter with meth in his method. Oh. And instead of sporting a Batmanesque utility belt, the big fella shleps a huge toolbox containing the tools of his construction gig that serve as his weapons of choice.

The acting is truly awful, but the script is worse. Brooks penned an unbelievably long backstory monolog for his character that starts turning this sale-bin action video into a spoof of itself. From then through the climactic mayhem, viewing this through your humor filter will probably maximize whatever enjoyment may be salvaged.

The bounty of babes in the mix remain clad - even the strippers.

But the fights and gory bits leave nothing on the table. If that's what you want, Brooks delivers. For those who stick it out, there's a sequel teaser during the credits.
