Here's the thing about a Duplass brother's film : they come up with a concept, an idea, usually one that's thought provoking or is intended on holding a mirror up to society and the viewer - but these screenplays are very thin and tend to rely heavily on the talent of the respective cast to fill in all of the gaps and spaces and "lacking moments" - and don't get me wrong, I LOVE Aparna and Anna Konkle (they are both madly funny although in different ways - and huge talents) and, of course with Jillian Bell it goes d without saying - buy in my opinion, in many of the more recent Duplass productions and definitely in 'The Drop' this is especially true - it's just lacking and to label it a 'cringe comedy'
