Jolly Good Christmas (2022 TV Movie)
2/10
Painful to watch

Warning: Spoilers
Will Kemp is one of my favorite actors on the scene today: even when he played the negative character Henry Stuart Lord Darnley in season 4 of Reign, it takes a great actor to make a character unlikable, so I knew he was a great actor. Part of Will's charm is his amazing voice, and of course his dancing ability: none of which are on display here (although there is a scene in which the leads dance together, it's nothing fancy).

Here is the appeal of this movie: the two lead's chemistry, and the on location scenery of London. Callum Blue is also fun to see.

Why was Will Kemp made out to be an American? His voice was just so neutered without his natural accent. I'm not saying he couldn't speak like an American, but it was just too bizzare. The plot was also boring- with no investment whatsoever as to what happened to these characters.

The one thing I caught is the one scene the two are in a department store, and they see Will's girlfriend walk in. They must run away from a security guard as a necklace Will's character was hiding from his girlfriend looked as if he was stealing it. Reshma's character then calls out, "Hey Look The King!" so they could make a run for it. I am pretty sure that had to be ADR'd over because the movie was shot before the Queen died.

All in all, if you want to have a Happy Christmas, skip this one!
