Surprisingly entertaining...
14 October 2022
As I sat down to watch the 2022 Netflix family movie "The Curse of Bridge Hollow", then I wasn't really haboring much of any high expectations for the movie. Why? Well, it being a Halloween-based family movie with Marlon Wayans in a leading role, just didn't really come off as being all that impressive to me.

But still, since I hadn't already seen "The Curse of Bridge Hollow", then I opted to sit down and watch what writers Todd Berger, Robert Rugan and John R. Morey had to offer. And I have to say that I was definitely entertained by the storyline in the movie, and it turned out to be quite an enjoyable and impressive movie actually.

Forget all about this being just another run-of-the-mill cheesy Halloween movie, because director Jeff Wadlow deliveres a wholesome family movie with "The Curse of Bridge Hollow". And it definitely has potential to be a true Halloween classic.

The acting performances in the movie were fair enough, and even Marlon Wayans were good here. I will actually say that he is well-suited for movies of this kind, not action movies and such kind.

Now, something that impressed me in "The Curse of Bridge Hollow" was the special effects. Wow. Just wow. Talk about having great special effects and CGI in a Halloween-based family movie, it was just spectacular. And it served the movie phenomenally well, as it brought so much atmosphere to the movie and definitely helped to cement the spooky Halloween feeling.

If you enjoy the Halloween season and watch movies with a Halloween-based theme together with the family, then you most certainly have to check out "The Curse of Bridge Hollow".

My rating of "The Curse of Bridge Hollow" lands on a seven out of ten stars.
