Ah, The Unhappy Rich
13 October 2022
In 16th Century Venice, prostitute Catherine McCormack comes to town. Because she can also hold an intelligent conversation, she captivates the upper class, particularly Rufus Sewell. The handsome young two are in mutual yearning for each other, despite their being constantly together when she isn't taking care of business, and he doesn't have to attend to his wife. Then the Inquisition comes to town and decides Miss McCormack must be a witch.

It's sumptuous looking, since you can't smell the canals, and the cast is filled out with beautiful, talented actresses like Naomi Watts, Jacqueline Bisset, and so forth, but watching the improbably wealthy be miserable is not my idea of good or edifying time.
