But unfortunately, The Last Time I Saw Paris is not such a lovely film. With the exception of a miscast Van Johnson, the cast is solid and interesting. As for Johnson, seems too old for Taylor's character. Secondly, there's very little chemistry between the two of them. This is a big shame since their love story is supposed to be the engine of this film, with the results being rather flat. As such, some prudent editing by at least 10-15 minutes could have helped it out a bit. Being shot more on location in Paris could have helped as well. While there are some interesting bits and pieces of The Last Time I Saw Paris, in general, it is disappointing given its potential.
