Review of Twins

Twins (1988)
7/10
The Oddest Couple

In the remarkable career of Arnold Schwarzenegger, "Twins" is a notable venture into comedy, pairing him with Danny DeVito as twin brothers separated at birth. This oddest of couples is the basis for much of the humor in the film.

Schwarzenegger plays brother Julius, a scientifically created perfect specimen, raised on an island in the South Pacific, where he studied and trained in isolation. DeVito is brother Vincent, an amoral womanizer who thinks only of himself. When Julius, the educated naïf, comes to the U. S. in search of his brother, it creates a fish-out-of-water scenario.

Vincent has no use for Julius until he realizes he might benefit from his talents. They spend time together while chasing after separate objectives. They also entertain Linda (Chloe Webb) and Marnie (Kelly Preston), who are delightful as the love interests.

This film is light-hearted fun, but I would probably not watch it a second time.
