Nothing More Than Super Buddies As A Series
31 March 2022
One year ago, an alien named Zeta crashed onto Earth, and is taking into custody, where the poor thing into custody. Cut to present day, and Zeta plots an escape with Luna, Otis, Champ, and Haggis, four stray puppies brought in by the government to help the research on her go more smoothly but ends up with her giving the four pups different superpowers. The pups escape, but Zeta is not so lucky, and the pups, alongside human children who take them in and keep their secret, must rescue her and help her get home.

Another series made by Robert Vince, the man who brought us Air Bud, Super PupZ feels like a series that could have been a spiritual successor to Super Buddies (if Super Buddies and the other Buddies movies were not under DIsney ownership). One of the things I have praise for is the use of real dogs in this instead of trying to use CGI (which sadly, still looks like PlayStation 2 quality, especially with Zeta, who looks like a cartoon cat, and a rat Haggis meets while escaping). Also, the voice actors do a good job voicing these heroic pups. However, this seems to be more for kids, as the show does not do anything to keep older folks hooked (although the third episode has a scene where an Animal Control officer is watching Air Bud, which makes me wonder how Robert got Disney to okay allowing them to use clips from that film), and the cute animals will end up turning some adults away (the only adults staying be the ones who are kids at heart or are parents with kids). Basically, one to watch with the kids.
