Cutter's Way (1981)
4/10
Waste of time

The movie starts out good, and makes you want to watch more. Then you start to get to know the three main characters. They are all rather unlikeable, particularly Cutter. He was so thoroughly unlikeable that I started to really hope somebody would smash his face in, but because he was crippled, no one did. The Jeff Bridges character, while less abrasive than Cutter, is a one dimensional moron who shuffles through a good part of the movie with his pants undone and his mouth open. Cutters wife is an alcoholic who suffers much from her abusive alcoholic husband. She says very little in the movie and her character, while deserving of sympathy, is utterly uninteresting. The problem with the movie is that none of the lead characters are believable or interesting or likeable. Half way through watching, I felt like turning it off, but kept watching hoping it would get better. It didn't. This was not a thriller, as many seem to claim, but really just boring and rather depressing.
